Diplomacy wasn't fixed in patch 2.

Boring!

It makes diplomacy impossible to actually use. Once a war starts it never end.

Not true for me....as carthage people with one province often surrendered and offered becoming a client. Too bad file is corrupt though and the game breaks down at the same spot.

I think it must be a bug specific then, only affecting some people.

Drangiana just invaded Arabia magna, despite them being weak as shit, but managed to take 2 settlements before I could move my armies down from asia minor to crush them. I guess it might be realistic for their opportunism, except now I am going to kill them totally.

Stuff like that would be great if there are true Empires standing against you.

What the game really lacks...like all Total war games so far....is challange mid and late game once you have managed to have an economy up running, a few full stacked armies and generals and tech to dominate everyone around you.....you can then take your time to spread your influence and it becomes more of a chore and not a challenge.

I think they could and should implement a real multiplayer with more than just 2 players.

to keep people from getting bored you could grant all players access to parts of the armies during fights for example the players being able to just watch the battle or participate and then choose sides. Some 2 v 2 or even 3 v 3 battles would be fun. Also you would instantly get rid of the AI problem once and for all.

I havnt gone back to my Macedon campaign yet but there peregum faction is huge, arguably bigger than my empire at the moment. It is about mid game though I am attacking in asia minor right now I have no idea how large of a force he really has.  I have tier 2 units with artillery.

I imagine it does - but it seems to be working for me. Some nations literally came crawling on their knees begging for peace ("all my treasury and become a client in exchange? Sure!"), others stubbornly refuse to give in besides being down to dregs against two full legions knocking at their doors. That seems fine to me, but yeah, it would really suck if the former never happened!

I do also agree with Fandir - after a certain point you begin to shift into steamrolling mode and become virtually unstoppable, like in all TW games so far. In the beginning of my current Rome campaign I was in serious trouble because there were more trouble spots than I was able to deal with simultaneously, but now that everything is running smoothly it's easy going.

Yeah, it gets really boring once you reached the apex.  Just mopping up and being a governor doesn't have the same feel as the initial struggle.

I think thats why Ive restarted so many times.  I used to play the first one on short campaign and see how fast I could beat it.  Egypt and Britannia used to be my main competitors on reaching my objective first.  This one lacks the short campaign option.  After you take 4-6 provinces and have legions with full stacks walking over everyone then I am done.  Rather be Alexander the conqueror than Augustus the statesmen.

I too am at that point where I am not being challenged on TW.

Part of the issue is that we have all been crushing this game for 10+ years, meaning we know what we are doing.  Only when the game gets crazy and breaks itself do we get to a point where we are truly challenged!

I am thinking I will be moving to GTAV soon, before the PS4 arrives.  I really need to get a little painting in right now though.

I never played Empire or Napoleon.  Was that different enough to make it more challenging, or does the TW franchise only lend itself to primarily hand to hand fighting time periods?

Napoleon was ace though. The problem with Rome..armies recover too fast. You seldon lose units in land battles and even if you take immense losses in 2-3 turns you are back to full units.
