Title: Official complain about the ending thread
Post by: Smiffeehimself on August 16, 2007, 09:48:33 AM
GW have certainly disapointed many, many players both on here and other sites, so this is the official complain about the ending thread!

All I'm gonna say now is: WTF @ Tomb Kings!?!?!?!

The problem was it didn't include all the armies and for the armies it included it was all to predictable, it's like what wissenlander told me Grimgor left the battle just like Mannfred von Carstein left the battle, "look at me, I've come to fight you, bye-bye". Karl and Thogey didn't have to unite it always ends like that for the empire. Aiding the dwarfs achieve their goal.  Terrible if you ask me.

:eusa_wall: Don't do this guys! Don't sour the end of the campaign by whining. So not everyone was happy with the result? Well phooy! Not everyone won!  :icon_rolleyes:

The campaign's success is dependent on how much you enjoyed it and whining like the Dwarfs are (and they did win!) won't do anything to help that. It's not about the official reports, the results, the crown, or the winner: it's about the experiences you had during the all-too-short six weeks. The Warhammer games, the fluff, the esprit de corp on the forums.

Don't complain about the ending, someone will think you are stunties!  :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Too late! GW ruined my life! I'm going to go live in a cardboard box in a ditch in the farthest reaches of Siberia, I am so disappointed!

Seriously, there are valid complaints to make about the ending. It could have been better. Yes, you may go on about the games, the background, the inter-forum discussion (and for me, that was damn fun), but surely all of that would only have been enhanced by a good ending?

I can understand why some may be upset, I was a little.  But as WBK says, it should be more about the fun you had then anything GW puts on us.  All we can do is make the best of it, and look forward to the next campaign....

Oh wait, what's that?....

Animosity 2: Sands of War...

Coming this fall!?

Oh my, how quickly that wish was fulfilled.

I cannot find anything about the final results on the nemesis crown web-site. What's up?

There's nothing that blatantly comes out and says what happens, unfortunately.

http://nemesis.us.games-workshop.com/campaign/default.aspx (http://nemesis.us.games-workshop.com/campaign/default.aspx)

Use that link as a reference point.  If you read the one dispatch, then you've read them all (literally) as there's just one blanket end story.  If you click on each faction it will tell how they did overall.

Meh. It was a bit weak, but I had a good time. Well done GW.

Ah well now lets do what I was trying to make everyone do before FVC butted in and let his anger get in the way. Let's get drunk. "EREBODY DANCE NOW"

I was annoyed that the fluff poorly represented how good or absolutely horrible the factions did in this campaign.

Order won by a good margin = crown destroyed and evil is like "well that set us back a little"

You would think GW would make it a little more decisive...unless you know GW

read about how terrible the Druchii were doing and every week it was "tied for last, tied for last, LAST"

dark elf Campaign conclusion = took lots and lot of slaves but Malketh is miffed over tor tana.

Picture this: 5 wych elves are about to pull a home invasion on this farmer. They all storm to his house and from the out side you hear a ruckus. 10 seconds later one of them runs out the back door and you see the farmer with a bloody pitchfork shout "YOU BETTER RUN!".

nice visualization! I wish GW would hire some people who have a little creativity and *gasp* originality!

Did you really expect any better after the Storm of Chaos?

After all, that one ended wonderfully.  Such masterful writing; such finesse, such clean endings and solid resolutions.  So believable.  Taste my sarcasm.

Poor Mannfred.  First he doesn't get to sack Middenheim because...because...because...GW didn't want him to.  He marched all the way to Middenheim just to say "hi."  Then, he...what...died somewhere between there and here?  Talk about screwed over...

Are you suggesting a better ending would have been the vampire sacking our fine city of Middenheim?

Second, having sympathy for a vampire?! Are you in cahoots with a vampire!?

In the name of the Sigmarite Holy Inquisitorial Tabernacle of Solland, I hereby condemn you to join the Imperial army as a Helblaster Volleygun operator.... *insert evil boss type laugh here*  (you know, Muha ha ha ha ha ha haaa .. kind of like bowser) You will operate the brand new machine deemed, 'It Might Work'. Should, after a full battle, you survive, you are deemed innocent and will be burnt at the stake for making a fool of the Inquisition  :icon_lol:

It's understandable that GW has to have the stories in a certain way, they do have to try to placate every different fangroup while still keeping certain things the way they want it and furthering their own agendas. What I am disappointed about, though, is how poorly written and inconsistent their fluff is. For instance:

Grimgor wanted the crown because he wanted everyone to fight him, and having the crown was going to make them do just that. Well, he's finally standing in front of said everyone, and he runs away.

The winds of magic fail. Despite the chaos moon waxing in the sky. This causes the skaven and chaos to flee right off the map. Just like that. While Skaven make fleeing a professional sport, the Khornates shouldn't even have blinked. Magic, what magic?

The Grey Seers feeling like they have no place in the world was just a poor explanation. Megalomaniacs suddenly developing a case of low self-esteem?

The gobbo puts on the crown that gives him the distilled hatred and malice of everyone who has ever worn it, turning him into an uber-gobbo with some super hatred of dwarves. Especially if it was a night goblin, IIRC they have that Hates Dwarves rule. For some unknown reason he seemed to have ended up with their distilled phobias instead, and screams like a girl upon seeing a dwarf. Did I miss the rule that dwarves cause Fear in goblins?

A screaming gobbo makes the black orcs flee in fear. Wow.

I don't mind the outcome of the campaign, but reading decent fluff for the finale would have been nice...

Me?  Cahoots?  Vampires?

Of course not!  No, there's no way that there's 3000 points of Sylvania sitting on my shelf at home.  And I'd never dream of converting one of our glorious Steam Tanks into a Black Coach.  And I'm certain I'd never have my army led by Mannfred personally.  And without a doubt, I'd never ever use the Imperial Cross as the symbol on the army's banners.  That would just be blasphemous, wouldn't it?  I mean, anyone who dared all that ought to burn, right?

Down with the cahoots and vampires!  Down with the cahoots and vampires!  *blends into crowd*

I think it was clearly implicated that the calm in the winds of magic was caused by the Slann mages.

The gobbo puts on the crown that gives him the distilled hatred and malice of everyone who has ever worn it, turning him into an uber-gobbo with some super hatred of dwarves. I agree, that is just weak, iirc, gobbos fear elves (at least thats in their rules). This is just bullocks.
