Warhammer Armies Project - Anyone else following it?
« on: May 20, 2018, 12:53:08 PM »
My old Warhammer gaming buddy told me he was hoping to get back into Hammering. He directed me towards the Warhammer Armies Project by Mattias Eliasson and suggested I looked into it.

Man, awesome. Such dedication to the Old World. He has released his own 9th Ed which maintain some elements of 8th but also look back at 6th ed.
No stupid hordes but +1 to combat resolution when defending high ground is back

Armour is more diverse. You now have Light, medium, heavy and full plate.
Them Reiksguard knights on foot are very tanky now...

He is striving to have rules for all units that has been a part of any army, so Empire has dwarfs, haflings and ogres.

I am waiting for him to finish the Wood elves book. There is a Ravening horde list for them but I really want the book.

Anyone else looking into it?
Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!

It looks like a very potential system, and truthful to the things I loved in Warhammer. But I haven't tried it, so can't say if it plays well or is balanced.

I'm the same as Zygmund. I've seen it, and I've been keeping an eye on it, but havn't tried it. I like the look of what I've seen so far.

It certainly is an noteworthy endeavor. Personally, I think the 6th edition rules and army books are a better starting point for this kind of thing.

I looked it up, but haven't been following it.

Is it from the same guy that did the alternative army books for things like Cathay and Ind?  I'm wondering where those fluff filled books went.

Will take a look. I have not played in a while, having 1 game in the last 2 month, so I do not know if I will try it out. If he is having fun with the project and someone else also enjoys it, sounds great.
