Deko's Casket of Sorcery
« on: May 02, 2009, 05:20:50 AM »
So I was back in Helena this past week and had some time on my hands so I decided to go shopping.  And what should I happen upon but nothing other than this:

Aldred's Casket of Sorcery!

For the low price of 35 points, I couldn't resist picking it up.

Looks like the previous owner has been by a lot of different wizards...

Anybody want a fire spell?

Or how about the level 1 from each college?

I haven't had the chance to try it out myself, but I think it will turn out to have been a worthwhile purchase.

That is quite a find - too bad the spells seem to change up a bit (out side of the core lists that is).

Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad people think it's cool.  I'm somewhat proud of the project myself.
The box was something cheap I picked up at a local craft store because it looked cool and was very inexpensive.  I considered using it to carry my dice around, but then decided it would be cool to have a reference of spells at hand for whichever lore my wizard decides to take.
This past week I was watching my dad's trophy store.  By the end of the week, this meant I had some spare time as well as a 25 W laser engraver, and a variety of different colored plastics.  The results you can see for yourself.
It's meant more to be a reference for my wizard, but I figured I might as well call it the casket, because I could.  In truth, very few of the spells my casketus steals are from the core 8 colleges.  Too many DoC and WoC players.

Very cool! Now you should model exactly the same casket on a model.

Why waste 35 points on a Casket of Sorcery for hitting people, when you can spend 15 points on a Sword of Battle?

Just cross your fingers that GW doesn't change up the rules on the spells anytime soon.

Great work though, always fun to see small projects like this.   :-)

I still have my Magic set where you dealt out cards and used them to cast and dispel (Power, Dispel, TOTAL POWER!!!!!!!, Drain Magic)

35 points is a little expensive, but well worth the price, I think. ;)
In all seriousness, this project cost me very little.  the box was cheap and the plastic spell cards were free as a benefit of working where I do.
