So what are your favorite chapters to build and paint?
« on: January 02, 2020, 06:27:19 PM »
When I first got into 40k, it was briefly the Dark Angels, but quickly moved on to Ultramarines.

But in recent years its the Black Templars and Crimson Fists, even though I don't really like the Imperial Fists. I guess its mostly because I do not like yellow, so would never paint an army that color. Even still they look rather boring to me. I wish I did like them a lot more tho, as I like the story behind the three.

What are yours?

Salamanders, seems they are the only chapter that somewhat give a damn about civvies, plus green/black ofset by flames do look good and isn't hard to paint, so I'm glad my daugther likes them best :)

Combined with the cat picture, that reply is down right ominous.

I'm going to cheat and say Deathwatch. I love the style of black armor with silver arm, and the splash of colour from the chapter shoulder. Plus I like that I can mix in a ton of different chapters and come up with a great mix of background behind them.

I painted marines in orange and blue long ago...that was an interesting time.  I'd consider going back to it again if I found an orange paint that I liked.  And, for some reason, had a need to do a new Marine army.

My Chaos renegades are in a split black/white scheme.  I love how they look...but painting them is tedious and slow.  With all the trim on Chaos models, I effectively end up painting each model three times.  Not that much fun.  Worth it for the look...but not my favorite.

I'm going to have to side with Steg and say Sallies.  The green/black looks good, flames can be improvised all over the place, and the fluff is a nice change of pace from the rest of my 40k armies.  I mean, they're still psycho-indoctrinated killing machines.  But they're psycho-indoctrinated killing machines who care, and that's what counts.
Let them taste Reikland steel!
