IoB Griffon -> Great Eagle
« on: September 13, 2011, 09:38:22 PM »
Started a small High Elf army a few month ago to give my Empire something squishy to shoot at. Started with a couple of sets of the IoB elves but I didn't have much use for 2 Griffon generals. I decided I'd try to turn one into a Great Eagle and as it happened, it was quite easy.
Here's the result. Comments are welcome.  :icon_biggrin:

Also, if anybody has a good idea for the spare Mage, I'm open to suggestions.

Very neat converion!  :eusa_clap: It's a pity the legs seem so big in comparison to the body  :smile2:

Yeah, I was thinking of cutting the legs a bit shorter. The feet will still be pretty big but I reckon that'll be okay. Cheers for the comments.

I don't think the issue is the legs being too long, it's that the location of the legs is too far forward, since the model was designed to have a second set of legs in the back.

Good try, though, and from the top and front it doesn't look as noticeable.

Very nicely done.

I agree, but with a plastic kit, would it be very hard to cut the legs and move them back? granted, it would ruin your paintjob, but it shouldn't be hard to strip and repaint or paint over....just a toss up, do you want to leave it as is and not have to repaint, or do you move them back a bit and repaint?  decisions, decisions....

I think the big problem would be all the feathers. It's not a matter of smoothing out any cuts, holes, etc. There would be a lot of difficult feather sculpting to patch it up.

I only spent a few hours making it and less time painting it, I'll give it a try.

Wasn't too difficult to fix the legs, I took them off with a hacksaw and glued them back on a little further back. A bit of green stuff to cover the holes and I was done.
