Topic: My views on Empire special

Basically following on from my post on Core unit sorts.

I'd dump the outriders.

Special:
Pistoliers
Cannons
Mortars

And units of State troops can be upgraded to special (like knights can become inner-circle).
They receive:
+1 WS
+1 S
Heavy armour choice
Can choose a magic banner worth up to 50 points

We're humans god damn it! Not super heroes!

It could follow on that pistoliers become core and they can be upgraded to "special" and become outriders... I guess...

Core pistoliers would have to not count towards minimum required units. As should other fast cav and skirkmishers. Besides that, I think they should still be special. But I do like your idea of upgrading state troops. Maybe give them the option to also take a GW or FP. But if they take FP they can't take a shield?
