When does it end
« on: August 27, 2005, 12:01:48 AM »
The original FAQ said that the campaign would last 4-6 rounds. With the changes and what not, I imagine this finish date would have been changed as well. So whats the new campign stop point.

Actually, that was 4-6 weeks :) That is still the plan, so the campaign will be drawn to a close in about 2 weeks.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Can't we just keep on going? I'm loving this campaign too much to stop now! Even when I can hardly play for it anymore, I still don't want it to end...
C'mon! Who ever said it had to stop at Ostermark? We can continue into Talabecland, Middenland, Kislev, the rest of the Empire, Bretonnia, Sylvania, the Border Princes, Tilea, Estalia, the land of the dead etc. unitl we have had everything up to the Ogre Kingdoms and Lustria. And even then we don't have to stop. We can build rockets and go exterminate the Tyranids or something...
Oh well... one less hobby, I'm afraid  .

Well no, but I see playing warhammer and playing the campaign as two diffeent things... with the campaign also being about planning with others, fluff articles, etc.
It's a completely different matter than destroying Chaos or something like that once more... It's a story in itself, and I'll miss it greatly when it's gone...

As much as a longer campaign would be fun for the players the poor admins have a bunch of work to do to keep it going for us.

Tallying the scores each round must be a Pita.

I for one appreciate it and understand the limited period.

All good things must end, guys. Plus, we're going to need a few months off so we can work on the next campaign ;)

Ofcourse, the original plan for this campaign was to see if this website could pull something like that off. It would therefor be logical that there will be at least one other campaign.  :-D
Graf Wilhelm Anderssen, Leading the Marburg Company (Stirland), joining Helstrom's 4th.
Awarded with the Nemesis Rune, Von Klaust's Laurels of Acclamation and the Scroll of Ludendorf.
NC: 5/2/1

Where was the problem in automating the results reporting ?

I may be wrong but it may be easy enough for me to write a CGI that does it and I can only imagine the saving of effort by the poor admins.

My email in my profile is valid if you want me to take a look at trying this.
What box serves as your web server ? Linux/Apache , Windows IIS ?

Well, the problem was quite simple - our programmer left us hanging :-D The next time around, our first priority will definitely be to build an adaptable, modular campaign engine. Not just one tailored to whatever we may cook up for the next campaign, but a core engine which we can easily modify to suit later projects as well. Rorrak, please do expect an email from me when we start to work on that, I'd very much like to have you on the team :)

You get 25% across the board and still not satisfied? Oh, the angry, thirsting gods won't be happy. I'm off to sacrifice a few chickens.

I suggest you pray that that will placate them ;)

Lol, I thought it was quite fitting. It is cheifly referring to my not posting last round, but most most of my friends will say it is a very accurate general term.

That would make things finishing around the weekend of Sept. 10th & 11th.
That would mean realistically we have 2 more normal rounds or 3 small ones.

Does the Campaign team have the 'rules' for winning? :?:
How will the victor be decided? :?:

Having suffered the cut and thrust of 6 rounds, and the ebb and flow of fortunes, the end is in sight.
However we do not know what the goals are?

I am wondering about such things as:

Control or most points at Bechafen.
Number of locations held - uncontested & contested.
Overall points scores.
Having much nicer blue uniforms.
Having the best 'cunning plans'.

Midaski, my respect grows for you daily. I wish I could be more like you, but I would probably be taken to trial and then given lethal injection, after being tortured :-D .

Jk, but honestly, I wish we could be allies, you guys are really doing well, and I have not seen one srap of "doctrinal" evidence that Middenland is much different from Talabecland. Oh well, it prolly has something to do with having a woman as our leader(you sexist dogs!!) .

Well, I think Strirland is really going to need some help, so we may have to attack you guys, oh well. It was nice while it lasted.

Posession of locations and overall effort/smarts will be important. Bechafen, of course, will be the main prize - you need the capital in order to install your crony! We're sort of shooting for an end by mid-september, which allows for about three more 5-day rounds. We'll be releasing more storyline and conditions in the build-up to the end game.

Just for the record - everyone does realize that it is mathematically impossible to capture Bechafen with Skirmishes?
