Ostermark Army - A new beginning
« on: November 14, 2008, 06:12:03 AM »
hey guys!

As you probably already know, i sold all of my 40k and started Warhammer Fantasy at the beginning of the week. Here is my first ever Warhammer model, he is a seargent in one of my halberder units (still in box) i plan on having alot of halberders...he was only really a test figure but when i saw how he turned out i thought why not promote him to seargent? hope you enjoy and please all feedback is welcome. :icon_wink:

Very impressive! You've managed to keep the fine detail from being obscured and I always have been partial to the red and bone/white colour scheme. The face is especially well done  :smile2:

Well that's nicely painted. The red could use some devlan mud wash, tho.

Nice job, I especially like the highlighting on the hat.  That's an indicator that you know what you're doing.

The bone/light tan color is such a great choice to go with red, instead of pure white.  The colors looks extremely nice together.  Quick question though, since oddly no one has asked yet.  At what point did Ostermark have a red and white color scheme?  I've not read anything of provinces changing their uniform colors, except for the Carroburg greatsword regiment, due to the blood on their white Reikland uniforms.  Any fluff behind it, or do you just like the red and white of Talabheim and the fluff of Ostermark?

Edit:

I just read your introduction post, so I assumed right, in that you like the color scheme, and the fluff of Ostermark.

Welcome to the site, btw.

GREAT paintwork!!! Also the base is very well done. You want a normal greenland look onto the amry or the more marshy thing?

Hey fellas

first off i would like to thankyou all for your comments.

Volt: yes i really like the red and bone colour scheme but i really liked the ostermark fluff, so i decided to go with the two combined. I think i might make the red a bit darker though so they are not mistaken for talabhiem, more of a burgundy and bone colour scheme. let me know what you think, and thankyou its great to be a member of this brilliant community.

Your Mother and Reiksguard4: thankyou very much guys, i cant wait to show you some moreof my work once ive finished them.

Soulcaresser: nah ive actually dicthed the winter theme, i had real trouble with using the snow so i decided on a marshy rural sort of base with a bit of grass and some long grass, thanks for your comment.

Thankyou all very much, more models are on the way.

Hi all,

I am currently painting the back row of my handgunners, they arrived in the mail from Ebay as Averland Crossbowmen, I am having abit of trouble deciding what colour to paint the ribbons? at first i painted them just bone colour with script on them but bleached bone on bleached bone didnt really work to well, so i painted them black with grey highlights.

I thought Burgundy, Bone and Black would fit wll with an Ostermark Army, ill post some picks up within the next couple of hours, let me know what you think.

You might try using various colors such as yellow, green, and blue to differentiate between units, like done with the 6th edition Nuln Studio army (as shown in the 6th edition Empire book), and apply it to feathers also.  Personally, I would probably go with a grey or possibly the opposite color that the ribbon is over (so if the ribbon is on a leg where the uniform is white, the ribbon is red, and vice versa).  Just a few ideas, but since I am using the 6th edition figures, Im not sure if my ideas would look good on the 7th edition ones.

I'm looking forward to that update by the way. :-)
