Marching column and pistoliers.

If you put your pistoliers in marching column you cannot charge move but you can declare a charge meaning the opponent will give a charge reaction.

Ok example. You fail your impetuous test. Pistoliers are in marching column you declare a charge but cannot charge move. Now what? Is it considered a failed charge in which case I assume you cannot move. Or is it not a failed charge because you cannot charge move and you can you move normally.

Ok I figured it out. You can move normally because you did not charge move.

You can choose to be in open order and then be in marching column.

Is it not a failed charge. I thought the point of being able to declare a charge in marching column was to stop people trying to get around impervious by being in marching column

Ok commandant I think you are correct. You just sit there and cannot move or shoot I think because it is a failed charge. I had to re read the FAQ.

It would have been nice if the FAQ stated that you cannot move in the remaining moves phase to be more clear.

True. I think you move whatever you would have moved in the failed charge. Is it the higher of the 2 dice?

No the FAQ states specifically that you do not move at all.
