The 4th Expeditionary Battalion of Altdorf
« on: April 09, 2024, 02:29:19 AM »
Figured you all would enjoy looking at my army! Everything has been collected & painted since October 2023, its been crazy hunting for old models, and painting them. I still have a ton to paint and will keep updating things as I go!

First up is my Wizard Lord Johan Hasst on his Imperial Griffon Roseplume!
I love how this one turned out, I themed the Griffon after a Cardinal and a Bobcat!

These guys were a blast to paint, and getting the chance to freehand some banners is always nice!

Next up Dietel von Kroppenberg Captain of the Empire!

Another blast of a model to paint. When i got him unfortunately his sword was broken so I had to play with that a bit. His Cloak may just be the best thing I have ever painted

My Favorite model in my army, the infamous War Wagon "Cannon's Bane" I really hope they bring this back for the oldworld. In the meantime I am running it as a steamtank cause its just too cool! Banner is still a WIP but eventually ill get it done and it will be flying proud from the back!

Beautifully done old school models.
Well done.
The paintjobs are really crisp and vibrant.

I really like Griffon colour scheme. Definitely unique.

Thank you! This Army has really been a huge passion project for me. I got into Warhammer 40k in Highschool, then discovered fantasy, I started researching what units I wanted to buy right as it got End Times'd. I stuck playing 40k and shelved any ideas of working on fantasy until TOW was actually getting steam!  found my old notes on the Army fluff I had written and started going to town collecting!

Here my Knights Panther! 5 are done and another 5 are getting there, i still have 16 blazing suns to paint, there just aren't enough hours in the day

Ha!  Cardinal and Bobcat ... love it!  And where did the wizard's head come from, excellent choice. :icon_cool: :eusa_clap:

Also, like that you have the shields all different on the unit of Knights Panther. :icon_biggrin: :::cheers:::

First, Thank you for the compliments! The head is actually the one that comes in the Imperial Griffon Kit!

Not a kit I have, and good to know.  Instead I have the older metal griffin kit from many years ago.

Its a lovely kit, comes with a mounted General and Karl Franz as well, and plenty of options and bits, I have him magnetized as well to swap for double headed griffon. I'm a big fan of the old metal griffons they have a lot of charm to them. I have the old Karl Franz on deathclaw (unfortunately haven't uploaded that one to imgur yet to post

Cool beans!!

I love me some Halberdiers.

I actually played a game yesterday WFB 3.5 (a mix of 3rd rules and 4th units) and used a War Wagon for the first time.

Less classic and a few broken lances, but here I've got my Demi Knights of the Knight's Panther

This is a gorgeous army, I love it! You mentioned that it's a passion project and it really shows!

I can really appreciate the effort to get hold of the models, too, although buying and repairing essentially trashed models is rewarding in it's own right...

Well done, keeping an eye on this one for inspiration :)

The artillery looks great!

Does the Great Cannon being called 'Susan' have any back story that you'd like to share? :D
