Silver Wolf's Talabecland army blog
« on: April 04, 2011, 09:30:35 PM »
Well here's the start of my Altdorf Talabecland army:

on the picture
Captain on foot (6th edition command sprue + greatsword head)
Captain on barded warhorse (not yet finished, contains bits from 7 different boxes; my biggest conversion so far)
20 swordsmen, full command (standard bearer not yet finished) (Thanks to Obi who sent me legs for the champion)
12 plastic greatswords (new plastic box + 2 conversions)
other miniatures
Reiksguard command, I use them as my greatsword command models (and I owe these to Marek, who gave them to me for free)
5 metal greatswords (6th edition models)
7 knights panther

Click on "view image" in order to see it in a bigger resolution...

Just a few basic colors on greatswords and that's all.

I'll post more (hopefully better) pictures tomorrow... The general looks kind of awkward on the second picture.

That BSB looks rather nice in my opinion and also those nice little kitbashes overall.
The reason for my uniform being a slightly different color to yours is never explained.

Thanks for the comments guys !

I've used ordinary sand on the base... Unfortunately it's too small and it's covered with grass. But you're right, maybe I should use a different kind of sand.  :::cheers:::

Great job on the converted captain! Painting looks really good too, I would probably paint the base trim brown, but that's just a matter of taste.

Thinking about moving to Talabecland...

Panther Knights:
- about 50% done, I guess.

Blazing Sun (inner circle knights)

Greatswords:
- bagpiper musician in the making :D
- I'm not that satisfied with the banner as it looks too simple. I have a new idea and I'm probably going to change it.

Warrior priest:
- still a lot of work left on this guy

Wizards:
- Gold, Bright, Celestial
- Bright wizard still needs a collar. Maybe even new shoulderpads.

Nice conversions!

I like the arms on the knights (holding reins), the Blazing Sun headswaps, and the wizards - good use of Blood Angels (?) bits!

Thanks a lot!

Yes,  BA Sanguinary Guard heads.
It reminded me of Balthasar Gelt and I felt that it would be appropriate for the gold wizard.
And the other one is on Blazing sun knight champion because I saw something similar in the Uniforms and Heraldry book.

Yes, knightly order legs make them somehow closer to full plate armor, don't they?

So after a year or two, I finally found some time to start painting the models I've so zealously hoarded.   :eusa_wall:

And for practice, here's an almost finished dwarf cannon. The cannon itself and a few leather details still need to be finished.
I've even tried setting up a light box, but my new camera seems to be utter crap. It just eats up all the contrast and colour levels, and the pictures seem to be too red.
Any suggestions how to fix that?

By doing this I'm probably qualifying as a necromancer and an enemy within (rasing a thread that's been dead for three years), but I'll have to risk that.

So, I'm proud to say that after may years I've successfully moved to Talabecland!
And I'm slowly batch painting my army.

The first guy I want to show here is an ordinary GW Empire Captain.
I loved the style of this miniature so much that I had to buy as soon as it was released.

I got this second guy as a surprise when I was buying a bunch of used random miniatures. He was in a pretty bad shape, so I decided to fix him.

They both still need some finishing touches. I was thinking of trying out wet blending on those capes.
But anyways, that's my army scheme and I think I'm happy with my choice this time.
