Topic: Sig banners and awards

Hey people,

In the recent asur campaign, we introduced medals and awards to add to the fun. I was thinking it might be a nice idea to make new medals for this campaign.

The basic idea is that, when you achieve a certain feat, you get to post a small award in your signature. These feats include getting a certain number of victories (overall or against specific enemies), extraordinary fluff contribution, or simply being a commander. There's a lot more than that but none come to mind right now.

If people feel like this is a cool idea, then I'll get on with making the medals.

For starters I've included a big banner to show everyone you're participating in the campaign;

Played in the Asur.org campaign and I think those banners were a great idea.

Would it be possible to get a smaller version of the participant's banner? I absolutely like the look, but I think it might occupy quite a lot of signature space.

I like the idea a lot.  I thought those banners were cool, and I'm still using your avatar from the War of Ostermark Succession.   I think it is a bit to big though, but if you could make it a little smaller I'd proudly display it. 

And the sooner the better, I'm itching to use it.

Jep I go with the smaller community...but otherwise fine. I am so terribly sorry I can't participate in the Untergard fight because the next shop doing it is 150 km away.

Agreed with the smaller and maybe something to signify where you are from (ie what area you are defending)

I was with Nehekhara for the campaign but we didn't have medals (I was the equal top Nehekharan general though), so I would love some for this campaign - good idea!

Hm. Since a lot of people do seem interested, maybe we could introduce something different along the same lines? For example;

- A formalized list of accomplishments, not as flashy but still fun. We device certain titles which people can earn for themselves.

- A topic containting a map of some region or another. According to scores we achieve in the campaign, we could earn land for our regional commanders. See it as the Emperor awarding his most succesful commanders for special accomplishments.

- An award-like avatar. Sky's the limit, really. Maybe a quarter-design banner, each field displaying a category of feats. For example, the top-left field indicates rank (overall commander, regional commander, advisor, grunt), the top right displays a symbol which signifies a number of victories, bottom left for fluff achievements and bottom right for the region you're in. We can have background colour and such indicating the origin of the player's army (for example, Ostland).

Ideas, comments, suggestions?

Probably the easiest would be the first option.  We could put stuff in our signature that way and it wouldn't make it too flashy. Something along the lines of commander name, position held, region.

We could have 'medals' for numbers of battles won/played?  Recipient of Sigmar's Cross?  Something like that.

There's four positions, maybe subdivide the number of victories in three categories, three categories for fluff and nine for region. That's 4x3x3x9= 324 possibilities. Gulp. Including the background for province, that would be 324x15= 4860 possibilities, IF people don't decide to go and have their army come from the Moot, Kislev, the Border Princes or any other such place) and I'm sure people will do so.

Ok, so we drop the province thing and fight as an united Empire. If people want to add things with paint later, good luck.

Idea! I just make the basis of a picture and the nineteen (4+3+3+9) "awards", and people can use paint to compose the thing. I'll even write up the instructions to use paint.

God, I love decentralisation.

Give it a shot!  We can still potentially come up with awards for the campaign.  I think the Imperial Guard did that in Medusa V.  I know we're not space invaders, but out of all of the WFB armies the Empire seems most likely to have 'medals of honor.'  Any thoughts?

Is there any way of stealing the coding from the round table as they have a system don't they?

Maybe if you PM Grutch, he may let us use small pics in our sigs... like the Ogre Stronghold does with their lil gnobblars they're awarded.

There may be copyright issues with the images but is shouldn't take too much photoshop to add them below your avatar.

I wasn't talking about images, just the name's.  One's like Martin's Shield or something, so in our signatures we could put recipient of Martin's Shield, Nemesis Crown Badge, Banner of Blood, etc.
