WHFB 8th Edition - Cult of Ulric
« on: July 26, 2016, 04:24:58 PM »
I am a returning player from 6th edition, and used to play the Cult of Ulric. My friends and I are starting a WHFB group for fun (not tournament play), and plan to use 8th edition rules.

I see that there was a Cult of Ulric book for 8th edition printed, and it looks pretty amazing (especially when compared to the 6th edition version). What I don't see are very many posts of lists, and no posts on Cult of Ulric strategy and tactics.

Is no one playing or interested in playing the Cult of Ulric?

It has probably more to do with the fact that the Cult of Ulric book for the 8th edition was a fanmod and not official, while the 6th edition Army Of Middenheim (in the Storm of Chaos campaign book) was official.
It is not enough to have no ideas of your own; you must also be incapable of expressing them.

Haven't heard of the Cult of Ulric since the 6th edition. You can always present an armylist, explain the possible special rules and units, and the 8th ed specialists can start discussing from there.  :-)

I'd stick with 6th edition if I was you. 8th's a mess. Alternatively talk with your friends and convert the Ulric's army to 9th Age. A bit of work will be required, but it will pay off in the long run.

If there was one rule I would add to previous editions, it would be the step up rule. It would make 6th and 7th alot of fun actually because you actually get to hit back and roll some dice.
