???

Not exactly true my Honoured Dwarf Friend.  Most of our programmers have been imported from Russia, India, Brazil, Canada, and England!  There's obviously a shortage of good American programmers, which is a result of our failure in public education.  If something on the Activision page says otherwise, ignore it!

I think Bugman means that you'll have to move to America if you live abroad and want this job.

In other words, no working solely through the Internet.

I'd pay an extra 15 points or so to be able to take the engineer out back and shoot him.

all too true.  Why pay an American programmer, when an H2 visa applicant will do the job for half the wage?

Grutch's Games Portfolio:

Microsoft Baseball 3D
EA Sports Triple Play Baseball - PS2
Sega Sports NHL 2k2 - Dreamcast
Sega Sports HHL 2k3 - PS2/Xbox/GameCube

Shaun Palmer II (snowboarding) - Cancelled Project

Spiderman2 - Currently in Production

Films (special effects post production):

Virtuosity
The 5th Element
The Relic
Virtuosity
Hideaway

I'm putting together a portfolio since I hate the one I have at the moment.  It should be up on www.grutch.com this summer.

@Queek  - Our H2 Visa Programmers are just as well paid as our home grown ones.  There is a serious shortage of qualified programmers in the USA.

Grutch- I work in QA for a game company (Senior QA technician, actually.) We work on titles from all global territories, and I can tell you there's a serious shortage of competent programmers all over the world
Not naming names (NDA and all) but the ones that get me are the programmers who repeatedly send us the same two blocks of code- one where half the game is broken, and one where they broke the working half of the game fixing the non-working part. Endless repetition between these two builds often gives the illusion of actual work.

I wish I went to a school with a game programming course instead of being stuck with business apps.  :(  Need a Delphi or SQL programmer?  ;)

Gyro,

Nothing is stopping you from learning how to code for games on your free time.  If you want me to put you in touch with some programmers who can give you some advice, let me know.
