Ah, thats right.  Yeah, that would be a head ache to make!

The Inner Circle knights are similar, but they look great.  I only needed 10.  I spent about $150 for the 5000 points of marines I now have (plus a few trades of fair value).

I honestly haven't even read anything in the ravenwing section.  SM bikes are awful looking.  DA ones look the best at least!

I love SM bikes! Square everything is Marine style.

The plasma talon is only Assault 1 I think, but still really good. Plasma pistols should fit in the bike bolter slots surely? A bit of work, but big savings.

That would work, the only thing missing would be the hammer thing.

Clearly it isn't racist Darknight,

I dunno, man - we've got white Marines, you're crimson, I'm dark . . . . this is just a hotbed of political correctness waiting to happen.

Cool models, BTW, Philly. The white is fantastic, but white always is :)

In terms of rules, for just over ten points more than a ravenwing biker, you gain an attack, a corvus hammer, skilled rider and the plasma talon/grenade launcher.  Well worth the upgrade.

They are 15 points more!  They are way better in c, since they have the pistol and hammer, plus 2 attacks on their profile for a total of 4 on the charge versus 2 for regulars, but those talons will kill them like crazy if ou use them!

Quick question:  would yellow be a fair color to use as my third block shade?  As in, white for the armor, blue for the cloth and accents, yellow for anything overplayed onto the cloth or as the inside color on capes.

Not a fan personally since it's so hard to make yellow clean and it might ruin your look. But I'm a crap painter. If you can do it I don't see why not. I'd do red myself.

Yellow could work, but in relatively limited application.  Maybe only on specific figures like a commander, or on a specific unit.  It can be a fairly dominating color if used in quantity.

As for red, could be the same, yet it's already being used on the seals with the parchment, and I don't know that it would look good in quantity either, with the look that has already been obtained.

I think yellow would work in small amounts
I don't care about the rules.

Purple could work, its closer to the blue, and won't stand out as much as a yellow or a red.

Since we were talking about colors for painting PhillyT's space marines, I'd save that for the back table.  :icon_wink:

I would have thought yellow is too close to white for it to look good.  Red is probably the best colour suggested, or green could be.  Or black maybe?

Plasma talons are rapid fire.  If you have a Ravenwing command squad follow the black knights, with the feel no pain banner, you can somewhat reduce the casualties if you want, but since its twinlinked, you should be more or less be fine from frying your own guys!

Also those corvus hammers add a bonus to your guys strength and give rending.  Making them a vastly better combat option than bog standard ravenwing bikers.  It may well be fifteen points, but its thirteen points for just the hammer and the bonus attack.  So you are getting the much better gun and skilled rider for two points.

Without doubt the best unit in the codex. Glad to be wrong about rapid fire, makes them even better.

Ravenwing command squads are poo though! Capped at 3 models unless an FAQ changed it, too easy to kill. Wouldn't risk a banner on them.

I don't really think they are the best in the codex, though you would be hard pressed to decide which is better, they or Deathwing Terminators.

Deathwing are just too expensive for what they do. Black knights have great mobility and can threaten hordes, heavy infantry and light-medium vehicles exceptionally well.

Deathwing are even cheaper than them though and more durable.

Nah, 42pts for a Knight, 44 for a terminator - 49 with TH/SS. The Knight is packing twin linked plasma and a 12" move. Skilled rider is massive too, so 4+ cover when moving and 3+ flat out, t5 they're quite durable, but certainly not terminators in that regard.

Better firepower all around, better anti Horde cc and better able to get into - and out of - cc, they're a clear winner to me! Especially since I favour bikes in my playstyle.

I prefer the deep strike automatic arrival of terminators and the various set ups to the black knights.

Fair enough. I just think the Terminators will be pretty vulnerable after a Deep Strike without a huge investment - an all or nothing playstyle.

Terminators are so tough now though that they are far better than they used to be.

Probably the heart of my issue is that bikes are so stupid in terms of concept to me!

Blackknights are super nasty though, without a doubt!
