now I know why you don't get much done!

I would get discouraged on so much stuff in front of me that still needs to be done.

That has also often been a cause of me sitting doing nothing for hours too.

Well zero - I saw your posts and pic about moving house - sad loss of the gaming space, but thought I might just remind you of opportunities if you have a garden where you are going ..................  page 2 has the pics if you need more inspiration.  :biggriin:

July is looking to be a good month  - Kickstarters imminent

Pugnacious Halflings
Tag / WK Roosters
Frostgrave Gnickstarter

Anyone would have thought I planned it for birthday presents .................. spread the expense earlier in the year.  :engel:

I also got an order through quite quickly from Black Cat Bases - so they seem to be back up and running.

and I am just 6 models short of completing the set of Kev Adams Mercenary Ogres and Orcs, and those 6 are now available via Foundry as after swapping information and pictures they seem to have found moulds.
The only problem is the Foundry pricing - just waiting for a Sale  :closed-eyes:

Actually it is not the only problem - and I hate to admit this, I have run out of round bases - yes I did type 'round':engel:

After only having ever used them on my limited 40K incursions, I decided to use them for Frostgrave figures, and then Legends of the High Seas/Old West and I am going to have to buy some.
Now there is a news story .............................

That's what I thought .................  :engel:

Thanks, but checking Ebay quickly, I can get 100 for under £5 which is probably less than the postage for yours.

There's a 500 deal as well - might go for that .............. now I am converted to the round bases .................  :biggriin:

Might have used it as an opportunity to send you other bits and bobs that I may not need anymore as I am trying to downsize...

But those are excellent deals.

I have a question about grass tufts - I understand they generally come with a sticky base.

How good is the stickiness and what surfaces does it work?

I imagine it works fairly well on standard individual miniature bases, but is that after they have been primed, painted, and possibly textured in some way like with sand?

My question is driven by some scenery I am making with plants on 60mm circular bases in 4Ground wood bases - I have used polyfilla ( do you north americans call it spackle? ) to 'build up' the ground around the trunks of the plants, and I think a few tufts would enhance the pieces.

Does the sticky pad work on that sort of hard material.

Has anyone added extra glue on dodgy surfaces and made it work?

Tufts are awesome, a basing game changer. Embrace the tuft! I find them to be tacky rather than sticky, if that makes sense. Like repositionable glue? I use a spot of superglue just to be sure but it's probably not needed.

Thank you for the reminder. Although the house is small, the yard is fairly large, as is the two-car detached garage. I've been considering several options, though I'm not certain how well they will pan out.

Arise :icon_exclaim:

Used Karak's Photobucket  trick to reclaim my pics temporarily, because I will find a new host at some stage.

Now I am retired I have theoretically loads more time for hobby stuff .......... though the good lady may dispute this.  :biggriin:

I also need to dispel this malicious rumour that I do not paint minis ..........................  :engel:

Some Blazing Suns which are done in 'sunlike' colours.

Some of my Kislev - Streltsi with gun rests, and some crossbows behind ( which I picked up from Ebay).

The Middenland corner with Knights Panther, and then Averlanders behind.

Of course there are more  :engel:

Wow, look at that, there's how one needs to start their retirement!

He hasn't been retired long, and look at his painting production rate already!

Great collection!

Second pic, the HW + Halberd Kislevites must have offended the archer unit to their fore, as one of the archers has turned around to aim at them. Animosity in the ranks! :-D

Finally I have purged  ::heretic:: picpail  ::heretic::

(I refuse to use their proper name  :biggriin: )

All 66 photos in this thread, up to now, have now been replaced with the help of Imgur, and I can start adding new ones.
It's some 2.5 years since I last updated this thread, basically because I didn't have a photo hosting site.

However I was taking the odd photo in the intervening months and now I have the ability to post them, so I can keep this a bit more active.

I am sure you are dying to know:

How the SHEN is doing?
What is on the painting table?
What minis have I put together recently?

(Recently?? well when you are my age two and a half years is 'recent'  :closed-eyes: )

Right - some new pics.

Firstly the pesky Oathmark Goblins

Not fully finished when I took this, but now they have the shields, and the bases have been done with filler (spackle).

Then there is this Coachhouse I have been working on for ages. The building itself was done, apart from the roof, quite a while back.
However I decided it would be better if there was a courtyard for the archway to lead to, and so out came the Hirst Arts bricks, and a pair of scissors snipped out some flagstones.

I have undercoated the courtyard now, and it is on the paint table.  :closed-eyes:

Some years ago I had a 'donation' to the Midaski collection that included two Fortified Manor boxes and a Chapel box.

As well as the main buildings - the Tower and the Chapel - there are an awful lot of bits and ways of constructing it.

I decided to make up one attempt at an actual Fortified Manor, but used the second set of walls and gate to sort of mirror the front at the back.
I also decided to make the chapel more of a house/cottage as living quarters for the Manor inhabitants.

Front view

Back View

I had to improvise some steps at the back to have a realistic access from the cottage and tower to the back courtyard.

Now that left me potentially with a separate tower and two 'chapels' as extra stand-alone buildings.
The Tower works well alone, and I made an actual Chapel, and then made the other up as a sort of Townhouse.

I used Renedra Stone Bases for each building which I think makes it look good, and then at the same time, there are two little 'huts' which are shown on top of the Tower on the GW literature as I assume somewhere dry for the guards.
Personally I thought that looked stupid and interfered with placing minis on the Tower platform, so I turned them both into Sentry Posts, complete with Braziers to keep them warm  :biggriin: and added 'paving'.
They should work well near a bridge or gate I think.

Oh and finally I made sure that both Towers had holes drilled to take telescopes and weaponry.  :engel:
