hmmm, life on a lvl2 is a bit dodgy as it really requires throne to be most effective and you can't guarantee getting regrowth. i think i'd be more tempted to take light or beasts as the lower level spells are a bit more useful. +1 S and T is good on all empire dudes, and light has nice protection spells to help keep your guys alive.
i'd also be tempted to drop the barded horse + vhs on the lvl2 as he really shouldnt be fighting anyways. put him behind your halberds and keep him out of harms way.
those points can get you more g.swords (which are way too small btw) i'd drop the xbows for more g.swords

I'll drop the VHS, give him the dragonhelm instead and make him bright. A 2+ ward save on flaming attacks is pretty good for 10 points especially as it makes his armour 1 better. The horse is just a cheap way of getting armour. I'll give the left over point to the GS for a musician.

I agree with csjarrat, that block of greatswords will need to be quitea  bit bigger.   List looks good otherwise.

Yes, a unit of 15 or 20 would go a lot farther than a unit of 10. 
18 may be the best size.

I agrre on boosting the GS. In my 1000pt list I run 14 (7x2) GS with muso or 6 knights with muso...

As for the OP I would probably drop the knights. They are just too expensive at 1000 points and have marginal value. You need to add some more infantry that can be steadfast.

In short, read the rules and follow common courtesy...the OP stated after my post he didn't mind. Did I post flaming you or calling you out in an unreasonable manner? No need for personal attacks on something so trivial. Though I'm use to having 15 year old kids puffing up their chests on the internets and attacking others. As an older military man all I can do is let it roll...knowing some day that kid will cross the line in real life and get his dick stomped in the dirt.

Ok, moving on....

Red Bull - Not sure if this has been mentioned, but you're over 25% in your heroes section (even with droping VHS for theDragonhelm).  You need to trim it down to 250pts to meet the new 8th ed Force Org restrictions.

I'd also seriously consider adding a cheap combat detachment to your main unit - 15 swordsmen tend to do fantastically, as they'll live long enough to negate the enemies ranks AND steadfast possibilities, and it's only 90pts.  I'd suggest dropping the knights, you could use the extra points for more greatswords.

Like I said, I changed my mind. This list is quite elite heavy, but should be fun. The point of the captain is just to kill arty (that's why i have the bronze shield) and then flank charge as the other two large units come belting up the middle. Everything else is very self explanatory. So, here it is...

I think your out a bit on the cost of a few things:
1) Bronze shield is 20 points, unless you mean the charmed shield, which is 5 points
2) Crossbow standard bearer is 10 points not 16
3) Ice Guard?  - surely greatswords!
4) Command on the Greatswords is 30 not 50pts
