The split-up's mentioned in one of the early sources(can't remember the exact one) but the Ironjawz battletome makes it clear that Gorkamorka split up when they argue with eachother and rejoin when they are united in purpose. Pretty much the embodiment of the Waaagh.
I also believe Alarielle "died" in the realmgate war series so Dietrich might be reading through them. If so I don't want to spoil anything for him.
That last part is Peacemaker's head-canon and has no relevance on the actual setting. AoS has no 40k connections what-so-ever.

I just got my pile of books out. Yes, the splitting of Gorkamorka is in the Ironjawz Battletome. But if there is enough Waaagh energy from a gathering of Orruks, they recombine

Not sure how in the Olde World Gork and Mork morph back and forth between one and another, but that seems daft to me.

They turn into a two-headed god called Gorkamorka, not morph back and forth between eachother.

Ethereal visions of gorkamorka can end seen in Fury of Gork as the Stormcast look for him. Not knowing the background it took a bit to realize the 2 headed aspect of him.

Haha, speaking of aspects, did you read Shinros' latest lore posts about Josh's take on those?

Pretty eye-opening.
