It seems as if they tried to cram as many ideas into one game, while giving it very little focus. I'm just not as enthusiastic about playing a game with one of each good guy ships against one of each bad guy ships, especially when there are only 10 total. I'd prefer to be able to pick an Empire fleet, or a Dark Elf fleet, or a Fishmen fleet or whatever.

The ships definitely look better produced than Man-o-War, both in terms of sculpting and casting. All plastic is also nice. Some of them look like great concepts, but some of them seem to suffer from the overly busy look ("cram as much crap onto the model") that plagues some of the other figures they make. The game mat is a nice touch, too.

I'm curious how it actually plays.

Given the choice, though, between Space Hulk and this, I find Space Hulk more appealing.

The Heldenhammer is so stupid looking. And a steam-powered hammer on the front?

If I had the money to spend, for the same price I could get 3 fleets of Unchartered for this price, and have a better game to boot.

Although I wish they would sell that mat separately.

Battlefleet Gothic, with some slight modifications, would actually make a good Sea Battle ruleset.

Most space games seem make better naval games. They don't usually handle three dimensions very well.

Where have you been hiding?

Ignoring the degrading of this site, which is turning into a mini-Warseer, is not hiding.

Ouch, that is some harsh rhetoric.

I'm not really interested, but I think those ships look really nice. It's a board game, not a new wargame were you can build your own fleet, so I really don't know what some of the gnashing of teeth is about.

The ships are about twice the size of man o' war ships, it seems. Which is what I expected, since that's the size of uncharted seas ships.

Spacehulk: Sold out pretty fast in Denmark. Maybe the consumers in new england bought it through GW and not your stores?

Anyway. The game appeals to me. But the price is high! :O

But the price is high!

The price is definitely on the high side for a boardgame.

I quite want it though!

I'd get it but this limited edition nonesense will probably prevent me, unless I fancy forking out an extortionate amount on Ebay.

I keep thinking that there is no need for me to get this, since I already have Man o' War and I haven't even painted all the ships for that.

But it's nearly my birthday, so maybe I can convince someone to buy it for me!

Looks like some highly detailed ships, nice mat, overall layout seems good, each ship has its own specialty, but not sure I'll get it.  GW has a decent string of photos up on its website for the game.  Probably wait at least till I see and hear how it plays.

The limited release concept is marketing.  Then they'll put out something else and folks will buy it too because thats limited and they'll want to have the in thing being played now.  Its like when something gets put on sale, there's this psycology that tries to take over and say, "Oooh, I'm saving money", but really its getting you to spend money.

And yep, in New England, a person can find a copy of Space Hulk if they want one.  I won't be rushing to buy Dreadfleet, and would rather spend money on other things.  Besides, I enjoy MoW, and have plenty of fantasy and historical figures that need painting anyway.

The detail is truly astounding.

Too expensive for me for something I would never use though.

I jumped on the bandwagon!  Preorder'd!

I figure the minis look nice, the scenery and monsters are cool.  I can either play it, or I can use pieces to spice up my  uncharted seas stuff.  Or vice versa.  I think the scale will be somewhat similar, and hopefully interchangeable.

It would be fun to have, but I wish they had brought forth MoW instead. I do not want a bunch of brick brack pirates, I want to be able to collect a fleet, not just have a limited boardgame.

Still the stuff looks nice and all that, so had it cost half of what it does, I might have considered buying it later. Now however I will focus on getting more stuff for Sisters of Battle.
Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!

Yep, it would have been a good followup to Space Hulk if they had put out a new edition of MoW, and then started producing a line of ships to go with it.  Then they might even make more over a longer run, than producing Dreadfleet for a quick intake.

Yep, it would have been a good followup to Space Hulk if they had put out a new edition of MoW, and then started producing a line of ships to go with it.

That requires starting to support a new (old) game system in their range, which might well tank. I think producing a one-shot boardgame is easier and less risky.
