Well... you know it will not stop me. The fact is that while core infantry gets a tad more expensive, the elite infantry will still be cheaper.
See this as a test of your prioritying skills! Honestly, how many are not buying stuff just cause it looks cool and because something inside you just wanna make it. I have done it, on many occasions, despite with my economy I should know better!
However, that voice that makes you do those stupid buys you really will not make use of afterwards is the voice of... addiction! Warhammer may not give you the kind of addiction that can be measures physically (unless you´re hell bent on inhaling spraypaint and glue fumes) but mind you, your economy, or the economy of your parents, takes the hit.
This is a hobby. For as much as we all like to do this, it is a hobby. GW needs to earn bucks, so they might have to raise prices. Well, what can we do but adapt, stop buying and such.
Warhammer is not some human right. But GW have the right to put what pricetag they want on their products. It was expensive before, and will be still. However, how about starting to plan your purchases? Don´t go impulse on all you see if you cannot afford it.
GW even suggest a step-by-step approach to collecting, enlarging your army in blocks. However, the power gamers and tournamenters always discourage this approach, as they discourage any kind of long term theming of an army, because it does not give you the ultimate army for each point level bla, bla...
They are correct. But then, is this game even meant to be played that way, primarily? No, no, and no... Forget that damn tournament winning idea nonsense to begin win! Collect what you find nice, and learn to play with that! In time, you will have a large enough army. But if your idea of Warhammer is to make a tournament winning army first and foremost, I think this hobby is not for you.
Enjoy the adventure, savour the journey! I am much happier today than when I constantly whined and felt pained about how my longtime collected army, when it was finally finished, was outdated compared to the top armies.
But then I stoped worrying and started to love the Empire for it´s own sake, not because of awesome badass War altars or Steamtanks.
Now, when I get home, I will lay down the law about what we can do to get more out of our money.
I´ll be back!
