Title: HOORAH! Eurobash 2017 - The 10th Anniversary Edition

This is advance warning of the dates for next year's Eurobash so you can all start planning now. Soth has confirmed the dates that work best for him, An, and the club.



The 2017 Bash will be held on:

Saturday April 29th, Sunday April 30th and Monday May 1st

The Monday is "May Day" and a Public Holiday in Belgium, as well as most of Europe.

So Travelling Friday April 28th and probably going home Tuesday May 2nd

Usual Venue - HQ Club at St Niklaas, Belgium.



We plan to book a number of twin rooms BEFORE Christmas, for the full 4-night stay (Friday to Monday inclusive).
Those rooms will be allocated to people as they confirm they will definitely be coming. Once those rooms are filled it will be pot luck if there are still vacancies at the IBIS or we will look at the 'New Flanders' hotel as back-up.


  IBIS Hotel pricing confirmed for 2017 as same as last year:

65 euro, single room, includes breakfast
78 euro, TWIN room, includes breakfast for two.
 




Last year we each paid 60 euros total for the 4 evening meals. The only other costs were maybe a lunchtime snack and of course the odd (?) beer ........................




I will edit and amend this post as any new info comes along, and feel free to post your intentions and likely attendance below.

As it is the 10th year running we are hoping that it will be a bit special with the return of some people who haven't been for a while, and maybe some new faces who keep talking up attending only to fade away in the end ............................

I'm actually quite bummed out I can't come. Especially since it's the 10th edition.

Can't you call it the 10 1/2th edition and do the 10th edition next year?

It is really more of a boys night out weekend...


That said, Novogord brings his girl as well, but since she is a regular visitor of the club AND plays MtG, she can let him play his games while playing that herself. And of course there is my An, who just slaves away to feed all the troops....

I am also considering bringing my gf, so maybe we can arrange a gf table with a bunch of shoe magazines?  (JUST KIDDING)  :ph34r:. My gf has the willingness to try games, and really wants to join me on this trip (last year I join her family trip), but if you dont play games there is not much else to do. Dinner/breakfast is always fun for everyone, but you have to play.

Anyone else traveling from the south? Maybe we could join up and travel together (Freiburg, Germany)

I will commit to one bed for me, and later this week I will confirm if another one is needed.

Atm if anyone wants or is willing to share a ride to St Niklaas, we could share the costs. Hopefully someone that lives in a easy to reach city by train/busses. Only me, if gf does decide to come then driving is not only easier/cheaper but will allow her freedom to do non-bash activities.

@Mathi - I'd be more worried about "youngest son" - who I think is 7  :icon_question:

AoS -> yes
40K -> will be played, still looking to do a introduction game. Might join the ranks of 40k with a new 8th edition if it's a bit more aos rules wise as the current bloat of rules is holding me off (that and a new load on minis to paint)
Frostgrave -> yes I will be playing this with some of my Empire models I guess
Munchkin (english edition with 2 extra packs) will be in the trunk on it's way to Belgium again, so yes :)
Mordheim -> if there is anyone then I would like to play with my Lizardmen warband.

You can bring Gorechosen, would like to try it out!
I could bring Silver Tower also if anyone is interested (not painted models yet)

I'll be there! I have a housewarming to give the 29th (bad planning on the part of my girlfriend wife)but will come starting from the 30th. If it is still possible to get a room for the night from the 30th to the 1st that'd be awesome.

serious: There are few things that we could not control, so we thought it was better to cancel early (messaged soth) instead of being canceling at last minute.

Nice to know my rommie still on the trip. We shared a room the two times I been at the Bash. I suppose he didnt get mad, it just soth trying to keep us apart.

Well WE doesn't have a budget - minimal advertising doesn't even cover the cost of running the site as far as I know.

The Limited Edition T-Shirts from Eurobash 1 were a generous gesture from our host ................... and a much sort after LE that some of us still bring out from the Bank vault to wear each year.   :engel:

I would not expect W-E or anyone to finance the anniversary memorabilia, but each person pays his own. Who would be interested in something like shirts, dice or turn-counters for 5-20 euros?

First we need to know whos interested in something, then we can decide on the something and those that are interested could decide if they want to buy it or not.

I would be interested in either hats or shirts with a logo, so we could take a picture together.

If a good amount of us are interested we could start thinking about a logo.

Edit: what about a POST event photo-album? I dont know if there is a "cheap" option, but a friend does photo album of her digital pictures and then gets them printed. With a little design, they look quiet nice.

Gw have just released a game called shadow wars which is basically the same rules and development stuff. Also some amazing new terrain and rules for every army they do rather than gangs.

The old rules were available as a pdf which I have saved.

However the gangs were mainly human or humanoid - from what I can see they have rewritten the rules to allow all the existing 40K armies to participate.

I used lots of the Necromunda bits for pimping out my kitbashed IG veterans - there were backpacks and shotguns and all sorts of weapons etc.
Ah the good old days when GW sold 'bits' ......................



I have just bought the new Warlord Games game "Test of Honour".
You can download a pdf of the basic rules on their site, and it looks ok - small scale skirmish game on a 3'x3' board.

Was going to knock up some plastic Samurai and Ashigaru this weekend, but the weather was so great I finally got a load of spray undercoating done - it's been so windy of late.
Lots of pirates and some Frostgrave stuff now nicely undercoated and sitting on my paint table ...............................

And that gives us this room occupation. It also means that despite my best efforts I have one room that only gets half used.


Do you all agree we should divide the extra cost over all the people sharing rooms ? Seems like the most fair thing to do. This would mean an extra expense of 2.5 € per night for everyone. Anyone who wants a chance at sleeping alone can let me know, we'll have a raffle to assign it. I put GreenGobbo in it for now, but if anyone objects, we'll find a solution.


On the other hand, this is the time for all you lurkers who really want to come over to step forward and claim that half room as your own.


Alternatively, if one of the people sharing decides they want a private room(and are willing to pay for the privilege) or An decides to kick me out for the duration of the Bash, that would solve it as well.

In the past I have had some occasions where I had to wait 2 or 3 months to get everything paid, and trust me, this is on top of the expenses I already make to cover a lot of the costs.

Well the rates are going to be pretty much the same if you buy cash euros before you go, or transfer via the bank.

You want a decent deal with your bank - I think Nationwide do an account set up that gives good rates - ask my son, hopefully he's going to use it to pay both of ours and I'll transfer the £s to him.

In order to not complicate things too much, all prices stay the same.
That will mean everyone for whom it is appropriate pays a bit too much solidarity fee, but since some people have paid already I don't want to have to recalculate. I worked it out to 1.5 rounds of beers, and will use use the money towards that end.


We also have a new guy joining us. Some people call him Johnny, and that is all I am prepared to tell you at the moment.

The rate has been all over the place this week:-        1.17 Tuesday, 1.145 yesterday

I've got myself a PO Money Travel Card - and I can buy euros online, so can check rates daily and hopefully buy on the up!   :engel:

yeh, i checked on tuesday night and could get 1.16 from debenhams, so I sent ellie to debenhams yesterday- she only got 1.142.
But it only cost about £1.20 more for the euros I wanted- Sometimes I get obssessed with the rate when actually it doesn't really matter much!

Would like to apologies for the genocide against Frostgrave characters during the Bash, but in our defense we had no idea how to play and we just wanted to roll 20's. We also lost in every other game we played, so we had to get our revenge.

It was my first bash we stayed two nights and hopefully we can keep this up next year!
