Hey there guys,

After playing 40k for countless years I decided to try fantasy out and have chosen to play Empire (Nordland Colours).

Currently I have been playing games at the 1200 level as I learn the rules (with some success) and now my friends and I are off to our first tournament, realising I don't have any idea on how to build a competitive list I'd love to get advice from the experts.

1: I like the idea of a predominately infantry heavy list.
2: Can a warrior priest be the general (ld 8 ties with wizard lord) if so how should I build him, or upgrade to arch lector etc?
3: Is a LD8 general going to be good enough?
4: Are the halberd blocks too big? Would 38 and 39 be better. If so where would those points saved be best spent?

Here is what I have come up with:

LORDS - 225

Wizard lord (shadow or light) - w/dispel scroll and level 4 - 225

HEROES - 241

Captain - BSB, full plate, enchanted shield and luckstone - 103pt

Warrior Priest - Heavy armor and shield - 69

Warrior Priest - Heavy armor and shield - 69

CORE - 782

49x Halberds - FC (warrior priest in here) - 429
10x Archer detachment - (wizard lord in here)
5x Archer detachment

48x Halberds - FC (warrior priest and captain in here) - 353
5x Archer detachment

SPECIAL - 608

3x Demigryph knights - Muso - 184

3x Demigryph knights - Muso - 184

1 Great Cannon - 120

1 Great Cannon - 120

RARE - 130

Celestial Hurricanum - 130

TOTAL - 1986/2000

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this, it is much appreciated  :-D
