The Warvault is Back!
« on: July 26, 2006, 10:30:55 AM »
We're pleased to hear that, after a long period of downtime and troubles, The Warvault is back online! Congratulations are in order to Angron, for gritting his teeth and pushing on where most would have given up. Go on and pay this place a visit, and don't forget to vote for your favorite Warhammer Fantasy website - nudge nudge, wink wink!

Why don't we have a banner like those other sites, and how do I vote for us?
EDIT: see Africa for more examples ...

Our banner should be restored soon, I didn't have a copy on my hard drive when I re-registered (Warvault's own database has been completely wiped).

You can vote for us by clicking on the link in the post above, which bears the endearingly straightforward title "Vote For Us!" ;)

I'm not completely sure how you vote for a site directly on the Warvault. I'll ask.

OK, you create a "vote out" by clicking the re-instated W-E.com mini-banner on the Warvault site. Easy as pie. It logs your IP and drops a cookie so you can't cheat the system by clicking on it a lot (and I don't want to hear about any of you trying either :-P).

Nice banner!

What's the difference between "Votes Out" and "Votes In"? Might say so on the page somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look.

Votes In are those gathered by you guys clicking the "Vote For Us" link. Votes Out are gathered by people clicking on our banner on the Warvault (and being taken to our site as a result). I'm not entirely sure how sites are ranked, but it looks to be by Votes Out.

Hmmm?

So if we all logged on via the Warvault link, we'd get loads of Votes out and stay top of the pile forever.

I believe what Midaski is trying to say that if the above is true, votes cast from the further above "Vote for Us" link are wasted, while if we cast our votes from the main site by clicking on the banner, we would rank higher. That is, if the purpose of the list is to rank the web site with the most votes. I have still to understand the point of the "Votes In/Votes Out" thingy.

Right now it looks like they're rated by votes in....

It is probably some combo of the votes in/out as well as the 1-10 ratings.

Yep, it's back alrighty!! And a damn fine thing, too. Is there anything better (other than the 3 b's) than finding a site where you can just go "mmm, Khorne thingies, let's click this..." or "where's my Empire? Ah-ha! click here"
I am a simple kind of bloke (or as my wife says, very simple) and I like it a lot when the hard work is taken out of the interwebthingy...
get on and vote for W-E, people. Otherwise we may well be ranked behind something smelly and unpleasant, like bretonnians..ewwww!!

cheers

Perhaps because we have so many more votes?

I'd also like to note that you're allowed to vote once every 24 hours, so if people find the time, it would be nice to stay up around the top.   :-D

I noticed that Da Warpath is no longer on Warvault...

Does anyone know what happened?
