Hi there!

So, after being inspired by the awesome Chumley's Plog, I've decided to take my Empire minis from storage and start marching them to the paint station (Well first to the closet near the painting station and then bla bla bla...)

The army won't be from specific state (hence the "Grand Army puff title), I'm going for a mix as I have a lot of models and hope to field anything from Nuln to Middenland, all boasting the latest fashion from the Empires famous regiments.

Since pictures are worth a tad more then words:

Some of the might of the Grand Army.

Right now I'm aiming the assemble all of the units and get them primed. It's too bloody hot here (average 40ºC until late August) and I can't paint 2 minutes without sweating a gallon, so,I'll wait till the temperature drops down a notch (or several!)

Looking forward to this project.

Update with finished Units:

Company of Honour

If it's fielded as 2 units the Griph act as the 2nd units Banner

Carroburg Greatswords

Reiksguard

Manann's Blades

Grundels Defenders

Nuln Ironsides

That's an intimidating workload!

I look forward to seeing them get more and more painted.  8-)

It is indeed!

I've found a way that helps me keep motivated and the painting going. Last year from September to March this year I managed to paint around 7000pts worth of Epic Tyranids. One stand, max 2 at a time per day. No batch painting. That way I kept motivated and could see the army really growing each day.

I hope to do the same this time around. One mini at a time each day or every other day, depending on the size.

That's an impressive collection of unpainted models. If you manage to keep yourself motivated all the way through that lot, you'll be doing very well indeed.

I can't come at the idea of painting models one at a time. I find batch painting essential if I want to make any real progress, even if it is more of a grind getting there.

I like your Hammers(Swords) of Ulric. I have a few plastic guys like that myself. I like the few shields you put in there too.

Hi there!

And here you were thinking this was another failed Plog! None of That!

Well, The heat is gone, so, time to pick up the brush and have at it!

This was done yesterday. 1h30min of work and a half decent result.

Comments welcome!

Time to go to the paint station again!

Cheers.

Hi there!

Thanks! The Skin tone has nothing to it, simple elfskintone, followed by sepia wash and highlight with pale flesh  (Vallejo Colors)

Well, it's that time of the day again!

Today I tried to exceed the headcount and see how long it took. Today the goal was 2 minis in 1h30. Managed to do it in 2h. Here is the current status:

Apologies for the crapy pic, I'll get proper ones in the weekend.

Cheers!

Hi!

Managed to reach quota today, just barely.

Last Row complete!

Gathered the nerve to paint while listening to Metallica's St Anger for the first time... Have the album since it came out, but never got around to listen to the whole thing. My suspicions were confirmed... IT SUCKS! Big Time!

Cheers!

Nice vivid colours, awesome!

Advice:

Photos - get a light box set up and take shots using macro mode against a white BG

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-Portable-including-Coloured-Backgrounds/dp/B00140RTJU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1381314041&sr=8-2&keywords=photo+light+box

=-----------------

DL this for free

http://www.gimp.org/

then open ya pics, click colour , levels, auto, and it corrects the image lighting levels , works wonders

Basing

Use sand, and some tufts !

Job on!
