Blazing sun knights
« on: March 29, 2018, 03:22:38 PM »
Hi everybody !
Currently, i am collecting a Stalian army and I want to know if anyone of you know where to find the blazing sun knights ( the upgrade pack or completed) or if someone of you is interested on sell them as i've been looking for in ebay and it's almost impossible to find them.

Thank you!

A rather obvious one, but have you tried the GW's website? They used to have this upgrade pack.

Then eBay is your only hope, or some kind of Facebook mini trade group.

These bits are so rare because hardly anyone bought them - if you like them, that's fine, but they were (at least in my opinion) poorly sculpted and overprized on top of that. Not the best combination if you want to sell something.

but that combo worked out for GW a lot of times  :icon_rolleyes:

I actually quite like the bits but, back in the days yes, they were to expensive for what you got. I think this is something where you should stop looking and then one day you will find them on a flea market for a pittance.

Yes, the prices of warhammer always have been very high, i still remember the 5 bloody knights for almost 60 £ ( and in fact they are still sold by that price). In fact most of the miniatures i have are from the second hand market. I think that I' am going to do that, i will wait until I find them cheaper ( maybe never    )

Your only hope is for someone selling their old set, or the rare possibility that they might come up when GW do a Made to Order for old "freeguild/Empire" stuff.  but they don't have a schedule for if, yet alone when it might happen.

I still think the original 4th edition set were nicer though.

I have some sort of knightly orders upgrade kit somewhere around, but can't recall what.  It could be for the Blazing Sun for what little I know, although I liked it when I bought it, so probably won't give it up.

If it is the Blazing Sun upgrade, then I'm going to have these as ... whatever they use to call those veteran knights ... Inner Circle, of some such.

I think Blazing suns was the only upgrade pack to work with the full plastic kit.  All the older knightly orders minis used the same plastic horses, but they were not really upgrade kits.

Shame that they're not making them anymore. These are classics. Not perfect, but still with a certain charm to them.

Well with the "exploding" Olde World, is there really much of a market for them? Probably not.

Among the collectors, most probably.

I have a set and other than the standard they are unimpressive additions. For completeness I get it but the kit added little, though in the elder days of ebay I got mine for $5 I thought it worth it.

Bah, since when did GW make choices for the collectors?

Havn't you heard GP? For a couple of years that's all GW thought they had. Afterall, they were making models for collectors, not for some kind of game. That would be crazy talk!

Happily we seem to be heading into better days.

They knew exactly what they were doing, no matter what they said.  Example ... 8th edition was all about selling more figures by forcing players to buy more figures for larger units.

I bought everything Empire -- except that upgrade kit. I stuck with my old school KotBS lead figs (and new generic plastic knights painted in same scheme). I just thought the 'upgrade' pack was so underwhelming I refused to buy it.

Same, never bought it. I've been looking for appropriate third party shields with a sun motif though, can't seem to find any.

Yeah, never saw this kind of 3rd party shields, as well. Shame, as I once wanted to make a Myrmidia-only Empire force.

Yeah, no kidding. It took me about 5 years to gather two units of OOP metal Stormtroopers for 40K. When they were still in sale, I always chose other things to buy. Go me.
