Wood Elf Rumour Thread
« on: March 14, 2014, 01:50:55 PM »

Salvaged from the 'Good feelings' thread, which has (rightly) been moved to General.

Thank you to antaonix for news of my beloved Wood Elves. They are widely believed to be the next Fantasy release, with reliable sources like 40K Radio claiming they will come in May. Antaonix's rumour seems logical to me, based on recent trends. Likely candidates for the Monster box include the plastic treeman that the ever dependable Hastings has been posting about for some time (maybe even years!).

I just got back some Wood Elves (Treeman {Lord of the Rings Ent}, Treekin {finecast}, Dryads and Drycha) that a good friend was nice enough to paint in a birch tree color scheme with autumn leaves. I can field about 3,500 points of the Asrai, and I might even pry my wallet open to buy a big new beastie if it's a dragon.

If nothing else, I hope they at least make these guys competitive again. Yes, I know there are guys winning tournaments with Wood Elves, but I don't do tournament lists. Hoping they make the book as balanced as the Dwarf book, and maybe even make Eternal Guard/Wardancers playable again.
So, what would you guys do if some dude came at you with a belt that way?
Make sure I've got the safeword memorised.

Well not much choice around anyway, only 4 more armies to go: WE, Bret, Skaven and Beastmen

Personally I think they have been working on Skaven now for over a year and will be the last book to come out, as it's the most difficult one to 8-tify if you just look at how big the FAQ is of them  :engel:

So this is a speculation thread and nothing to do with rumours :/
Incorrect, there are several rumours in this thread, including one new one I have not heard before, the Korean rumour in the OP might have slightly dubious provenance, but it deserves discussion nonetheless.

As far as I recall the treeman kit was finished a long time ago, they have just been sitting on it, and no one ever posted an anticipated release date.

As a Wood Elf general, I do hope this is true. My leafy boys and girls have been shelved for far too long. Of course, I've always heard that Bretonnia will be before the Asrai.

I'm also hoping that the WElfs get some stag-riding monstrous cavalry so that I can pirate the models for my Taal-worshiping, hunting themed Hochlanders! Assuming they don't look like the current Stag model. Only Sigmar knows what the sculptor must have been thinking on that one...
No, I'm sending it to people I reckon I can trust. Or, at least, people I think I can murder should it become neccesary.

OK, this may mean nothing, but currently on the GW website, the Wood Elves are the only army without a Battalion Box. (Dark Elves also don't have a "battalion box" but they do have other large group sets.)
So, what would you guys do if some dude came at you with a belt that way?

Wood Elves Elves Rules and Release

Quite some time ago, I was looking at picking up a Warhammer Fantasy army, and Wood Elves really were my army of choice. Of course it was then an outdated army, and a couple friends talked me out of it. Well, now the Wood Elves are back on the stand, as their next army book is in the sites of the rumor mill. So lets take a look at the lastest rumors for Wood Elves

Wood Elves according to the 40k radio is due for us around May of 2014. So while that is a few months away, there is plenty of time for new information to start flowing.

Please remember that these are rumors, and still a little ways off. I am assuming these are from playtest rules.

via Ajota from the Spanish Eye of Terror forums
Hi Guys, new to the forum but a long time Wood Elves player.

The rumour is that the Wood Elves release is May 2014 and I have found some potential rules and releases translated from a Spanish forum, not sure about the accuracy but here goes:

Army wide ASF ( elves only )
 - Hawkeye ( only elves , reroll one to hit, single shots)
 - Spirit of the Forest ( unstable magical attacks, hatred , 5 + ward save , harmony with the forest )
 - Elven Bow ( f4 , rapid fire , extra row )
 - Saearath ( cc weapon , +1 Strength , + 1 SEspecial , spears )
 - Explorers / Ambushers ( NDT : not what it is )

Forest Guard : Elvish Bow , Hawkeye
 Eternal Guard : f4 , Saearath , L8
 Light Knights : same
Driades : forms of combat .
Riders Halcon : Elven Bow , Hawk Eye , launches
Kournous Riders : Spirit of the forest, Saearath , L8 , F4 , A2 ( idk if directly go deer)
Arboreal : Spirit of the forest , as
Banshees : Spirit of the forest, Lamento ( breath attack ) , terror .
 Eagle Claws : same
Wardancer : same , except for some changes that do not know .
Forest : Forest Spirit , Bow Elvish .
 Men Tree: Like I
Millennial choleric : Hate Eternal , and nose to more

 And releases

Man Megacaja Tree (Giant) / Durtu / Millennium cashflow
 - Great Dragon Box Forest / Lord of the Forest / Sisters of Twilight
 - Safety in Deer Forest Kournous
 - Safety Kournous Riders (apparently nothing to do with the look of today, more fey and spiritual)
 - Safety Wardancer / Forest
 - Riders Box Falcon / Eagle Claws
 - Safety Eternal Guard / Forest Banshees
 - Blister Cantor of Trees
 - Blister Lord of Forests
 - Blister Skaw the Falconer

I can't wait to devastate my opponent with my millennium cashflow. Although triple-cashflow sounds like an auto-take.

- Elven Bow (S4 , Quick to Fire, extra rank)
- Saearath ( cc weapon , +1 Strength , + 1 ward save, spears )
- Scouts/Ambushers (NDT: I do not know what these consist of)

Glade Guard : Elven Bow , Hawkeye
Eternal Guard : S4 , Saearath , L8
Fast Cavalry : unchanged
Dryads : forms of combat (?)
Warhawk Riders : Elven Bow, Hawk Eye, Spears
Wild Riders of Kournous: Forest Spirit, Saearath  L8, S4, A2 ( I do not know if they immediately come with a stag)
Treekin : Forest Spirit , unchanged

Eagle’s Claws : unchanged
Wardancer : unchanged, except for some changes that I do not know .
Waywatcher: Forest Spirit , Elven Bow .

And releases

- Giant Treeman/Durtu/Raging Treeman Ancient

- Box Eternal Guard/ Forest Banshees
- Blister Treesinger
- Blister Lord of the Forest
- Blister Skaw the Falconer

Bretonnia’s behind an edition,
Bretonnia’s s behind an AB.
Bretonnia’s behind an edition,
Oh, bring back Bretonnia to me.

Bring back, bring back,
Oh, bring back Bretonnia to me, to me!
Bring back, bring back,
Oh, bring back Bretonnia to me.

Last night as I lay on my pillow,
Last night as I lay on my bed,
Last night as I lay on my pillow
I dreamed that Bretonnia was dead.

Bring back, bring back etc.
