Hang on, was Golden Demon award easier back in the 90's?

Looking at the quality of this paint job, it doesn't seem particularly impressive on the close up shots , like the troops cloth is solid colours with no highlighting or much detail etc

Miniatures painting has come a long way! Try looking at pictures of the late 80s stuff!

Hang on ........  :engel:  what's the 90s got to do with it - the Zeppel wasn't around until the mid 2000s

That might have been Golden Daemon quality 20 years ago, it might have been enough to take to Games Day in 2000 and enter it, but not anywhere near winning quality.

Plus you have to take into account that 90% of ebay descriptions of painting quality are about two grades above the actual quality.

"Golden Demon Quality" is completely meaningless - there is no objective standard. Even when they started the stores vetting the entries, it was still graded on the curve.

Golden Demon winners & placed are excellent - but that isn't what that says.

Chum, I want an all pink outfit on one of them. I may not have much to offer in exchange, but maybe a firstborn child?

Citizens are nice minis to paint, it's strange that  GW doesn't produce more female characters.
One of the big wigs... once told them "If a household doesn't have an income of $70,000, we don't consider them a GW target customer."

There are some seriously crazy collectors out there !

Worse than me

One guy just won 2 townsfolk auctions, paying £55+ for one model, and £40 for the other,

sickness!

Nah, just some beartraps, pits with spikes, huge rolling boulders, snakes (why does it have to be snakes?!?) and such.. And I really think you're going to need them, as your collection might actually be more attractive to archeologists than to common thieves  :biggriin:

And guns are for killing, be it game or people, protection comes trough various means, none which need to be lethal. Just my opinion, feel free to think differently...
