I sold them off a while ago, since I'm a Marienburg player and thought that the Sigmar fanaticism really didn't fit with my army.

Ingmar Bergman - The Seventh Seal
Another good flaggie inspiration scene is from John Boorman's Excalibur -- towards the end when Lancelot's gone off his rocker and comes out looking just like one of those figures (long hair/beard, dirty robes and swinging a tree branch.)
-
oh yeah great example forgot about that movie...man there are some good flagellants units so fare KEEP it up!! :::cheers:::

Love the priest, from Avatar of War? I've been looking at him but just wasn't sure of the scale etc....looks smick :icon_biggrin:
-
Orcyboy, love the one with the name tag: 'Hi, my name's Mike, ask me about being a crazed prophet of doom.'
-
I like all generations of GW Flagellants
Here is my unit.

the deepset eyes work wonders on that unit, nice job !
I recon inside every man is a flagellant waiting to escape to the surface!
It only takes losing your job, your wife, and house in the same week, and you might pick up a flail and start ranting!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Yeah, all the Mike's I know are friggin crazy.
-
I never cared for the GW flagellant models, and then the new plastic ones came out and they were nice figures, but they all looked like bodybuilders who just stepped out of the gym. I imagined flagellants to look like desperate lunatics that have been living on roadkill and drinking their own urine for weeks at a time.
So I made mine look like pro cyclists :icon_biggrin:

While I wouldn't use anything like that, your excecution is flawless.
Well done!
-
That is genuinly the product of an insane mind. But quite brilliant  :icon_lol: :icon_lol:
-
Hey, Lion of Flanders nice to see you around again!
Out of all the Flagallant models out there the cyclists are a personal favorite.
(Your lion knights are some of the best empire cav ever modeled, a personal favorite of mine)
-
Just speed painting this Mordheim guy, the sculpt is soo good that you only need a white undercoat, then washes to pick up detail,

Great job as usual

So I made mine look like pro cyclists :icon_biggrin:
Reminds me of the Triplets of Bellville! :-D

You can spot Flagellants in Society,
I can think of a few:
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London,
Tom Cruise,
Kurt Cobain,
Slash,
there are so many

I most certainly nabbed the idea from that film.

Great work claus. From where did you get those bases you are using on them flaggies?
-
Those are the ones from Micro arts studio, but i have since switched over to using Tiny´s copplestone bases (from these forums), as he was willing to make me some chariots sized copplestone bases to match his own.
Kind regards

So far only given these guys a very simple paint job to make them somewhat usable on the table. Not satisfied with them, and compared to the fantastic figures shown earlier in this thread.. :icon_redface:
Anyways, since I don't know when I'll get the time and inspiration to finish them up I figured I'll just go ahead and post since I absolutely love these models! (Foundry plague priests)

Those were really creepy (in a good way). Nice idea to use them as Flaggies.
-
I love the flagellent models and they where the first unit I completed in my new empire army and I like the idea of crazed madmen dying so my swordsmen can mop up with a warrior priest fighting along with them.
I also love them cuz I can just cover mistakes with blood easy ;)

Female flagellants

They're great.
Morrite sisters, I take it (from the hourglass emblem)? I am working on some Morrite flagellants right now. I might embroider the same emblem upon them.
-
Actually, there's a bit of a roundabout story about them...
I wanted less fantastic flagellants, but wanted to keep the flails, so I searched for flail-wielding historical figures, and found some Hussites, but they didn't look very religious :engel: However, they did have female figures with hoods, which I thought made them look like nuns, which sort of fit the fluff.
I decided they would be an order of women who are widowed by war, and that they would be dressed in black and nicknamed 'The Black Widows'. I needed some distinction to offset the mass of black, and on googling found the red pattern black widow spiders have on their bellies. This of course resembles and hourglass or a chalice, which is in fact a symbol used by the Hussites.
True story.
But Morrite sisters work too. :-D
-
Good stuff. It's great to know other folk really look into stuff to sort history, background, colours and banners etc. My own research came up with this as a Morrite symbol (used in Tilea):
I had fun researching this for the 'Sforta' family (historically 'Sforza'):
Though sometimes I just print like the following image for the arch-lector of Morr in Remas (an historical papal banner):
It seemed very appropriate - keys being those to the afterlife and a triple crown fitted my version of church structure in Remas very well.

Michael Stockin is a Necromancer!
Said this before, will repeat this now: the painting of these Fleglers looks better than some 28mm models, and certainly better than most 15mm models. I also like the sculpts of the poses and heads more than the most recent plastic Flagellants.
They're a masterpiece of sculpting and painting considering the scale.

Thank you for showing me that there is hope for the human race as another person who has seen that film.
