I'm unsure what you are trying to say / get peoples opinions on in this thread, but I too would love to build a Cathayan army.
I remember 5 years ago, me and my friend who I bought a lot of Empire stuff from (old reiksguard, handgunners, swordsmen) said that GW were thinking of bring out a Cat themed army from Cathay that hated Skaven - simply because we had a skaven opponent whom we hated to play....
Anyway, in the Count's Tavern there is a link to someone who used a Bretonnian list to build his Cathay army - which looks fantastic by the way....
But I have always thought an Empire Army could do it better.....
Besides from using other miniatures, what GW models / conversion could be made to have a tournament legal Cathayan army?
What Cathayan units would there be? What would their equivalent be rules wise / Empire units wise?

Those figs would be better for Nippon - since they are samurai and all.
Nippon = Japan!

Yes, these are definately Nipponese, if anything.
