Greetings all, I've been frequenting these forums for a while and finally decided to register!
I've embarked on a long project that I have had in the back of my mind for over a year. I spoke little of it to anyone and just let it brood inside of me. At last, my ideas are beginning to take shape.
So I'm creating a themed Sigmarite Empire army that is from Talabheim. The army list will include only Warrior Priests as characters, and the troops will include no less than two large blocks of Flagellants, blocks of swordsmen, and units of White Wolf Knights and Great Swords to round out the heavy hitters. I won't take any handgunners, crossbowmen, cannons, or missile weapons of any type, only large blocks of Sigmarite warriors. Not a tournament-winning list, I'm well aware, however I believe it will be a lot of fun to play! Basing-wise [is that even a word?], I was inspired by a fantastic theme by Bane from The Glass Cabinet (http://warhammer.org.uk/PhP/viewtopic.php?t=28189&start=0&sid=2917f8735f872ea9abc35784261a7f78 (http://"http://warhammer.org.uk/PhP/viewtopic.php?t=28189&start=0&sid=2917f8735f872ea9abc35784261a7f78"))
and I will be doing something similar. The idea is that the Talabheim forces are retaking an old Sigmar monastery in the northern kingdom that has since gone to ruin due to invasions of the northern chaos hoards.
Without further ado, I present my first model which I created to represent either Luthor Huss, or a Warrior Priest mounted on a barded warhorse.

Good painjob.
How did you do the base?

Thank you all for the warm welcome and kind comments!

You got it, I cut the head off of the exact model you're pointing out with a hobby saw. In order to keep it intact, I had to saw through basically his upper chest, one of the thickest parts of the model [since it's a fat Warrior Priest...] With some greenstuffing around the edges, it turned out looking alright.
@DonKarst0n: The base is done by cutting up pieces of plasticard, I think I used 30mm thickness, I'll double-check, and then gluing them to the base in a cobblestone fashion. I used PVA glue, rather than superglue, so that I'd have time to rearrange tiles if I didn't like how they sat. Standard GW scorched grass in the cracks between stones, and some random autumn leaf litter that I got from a friend, unfortunately I have no idea where he got it....

Really good job. :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: How did you paint the base? I ask because I will painting something similar.

Nice work! The picture is a bit dark, but from what I can see his face is stunning! Though it looks like he can also stun you with his hammer... Don't like the hammer, but that's just personal taste, you painted it very good.
Bane's blog is also on this forum, by the way.
-
That does look amazing, but I really wish you'd used a different hammer.
-
WOW!!!
Fantastically done!
-
I love it!!! It is awesome.
-
Lovely conversion and paint job
-
That is a mighty Hammer!!....looks very cool

Looks like a certain priest is compensating for something...
Solid paintjob, and excellent skin.

that hammer really says "fuck off, and fuck off NOW!"

Or, "this thing is causing my horse to tip over backwards!" :icon_lol:

The cobblestone bases are just amazing. Hats of to you, and Bane as well, for inspiring you. :::cheers:::

One of the better converted mounted warrior priests that I have seen (even though it looks like there is little conversions on the model, hehe). Although I must say, I got alittle sad, when I read that you used the head from another warrior priest for your version, which means I have to shell out quite a hefty amount just for a metal head.
Anyways, I like your idea, what with the army having no missile troops. If you paint the rest of your force to the standard you have shown us with that Warrior Priest, I can imagine your completed army looking quite fantastic, and easily winning Best Painted awards, if you ever attend tournaments.

Thanks for all of the replies and kind comments!
As for how I painted the base, I drybrushed Charadon Granite, then Shadow Grey, Codex Grey, Fortress Grey, Dheneb Stone, then Skull White. I then gave it a Badaab Black wash, and redrybrushed Dheneb Stone and Skull White. That's a ridiculous amount of colors and I was just testing things out, so for future bases then main colors will probably just be Charadon Granite, Dheneb Stone, and Skull White.
@Volt: Yeah, it's a lot for just a head, I had intended to use the two arms from that Warrior Priest model but I accidentally ruined them with my saw when I was cutting... :-P But there is a plastic bald head from the Flagellants sprue that would work well for a Priest head, you'd just have to greenstuff the, erm "tiara" heh, on his head.

Hehe, this looks kinda like the model i was going to make... as i have Huss and a Generals Horse

:icon_eek: Damn that looks great, cant wait to see the rest of your army :icon_mrgreen:

Small Update:
I glued together 10 State Troops and put them on bases. I should have them painted up and finished within the next couple of days.

*edit*
In an unrelated matter, I sometimes paint up a hero-type model and put it for bid on eBay. I recently completed a Vampire Lord for the WFB VC army:

What a handsome vampire! I love that mini and you've done justice to the sculpt with your paintjob. :eusa_clap:
-
Very Kool, I absolutely love the bases on the State troops.
Outstanding work! :::cheers:::

Work on the State Troops is progressing slowly but surely. So far I've started the metals, finished the cloth armor [banner still needs work], skin, faces. Over the next couple days I'll do hair, belts, accessories, hats, helmets and all the other little details.
Sorry for the quality of the pictures. My camera seems to be on its last legs of life, there's always a couple bright, blurry spots in the middle of the pictures.

I truely admire you.
Painting ten minies at the same time is impossible for me (max 4).
Well they are very good and I am sure this regiment will look most impressive once finished.
