Hello all,
I have been posting on forums like Warseer, Wargamerau .. etc for quite some time now, and I just discovered this empire forum so I figured it was time that I share my army with the greater community.
First of all I will start by introducing one of my armies which I started and completed in 2009 and some of you who actively post on Warseer might have seen my "Gobotonnia" army which is a heavily converted Bretonnia army in goblin theme.
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195596 (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195596)
MY Gobotonnia army is base on a story of a young goblin wolfrider warboss named Whaga, who vowed to Gork and offered his soul to gain the power to unite the warring tribes and defeated the Bretonnians. In the aftermath of the battle, the goblins scavenged amongst the battlefield, took any shiny possessions they could get their hands on to be branded as their own. The goblins armed themselves with an assortment of swords, broken lances, shields, armours and helms etc captured in the battle, and carried as a mark of their self-evident superiority.
The goblins later became fanatically devoted to Whaga and proclaimed him to be their king and Gobotonnia was formed. Whaga was crowned as the King of Gobotonnia.
and now, in 2010.
the Whaga's Saga continues..
As the years passed and Gobotonnia continued to grow in power, the rough tribes blossomed into small strong holds, their numbers multiplied and many new settlements were founded. For a number of years Whaga led the Gobotonnian and conquered any opposition that dwelt nearby.
Hordes of goblins poured across the Grey Mountains, through the passes to ravage the lands of the Bretonnia as they flocked to Whaga’s banner. In desperation, the Bretonnian sent emissaries to the Empire to seek help. Fighting in common cause against the Goblins, the Empire and Bretonnia pledged to aid one another against the unstoppable greenskins.
The war between the human and the goblins continued for many years and despite the best efforts of the Gobotonnians, they were driven west into the inhospitable mountains. In desperation, the goblins grew more cunning and in one darling attack captured one of the empires greatest invention – the Steam Tank, as well as several empire’s finest master engineers. Although this victory was at great cost with more than half of the Gobotonnia knights virtually wiped out but Whaga was eager to learn the secrets of fireworks and black powders...
and here is the background for my Empire Army of Gobdorf!

I saw your Gobbotonia army on warseer and loved it, but I think this is going to be even better. The conversions, the painting and foremost the humoristic style of the army is just spectacular, love it. Looking forward to see more pictures.
-
Dito'd. This will be great! :biggriin:
And welcome to the forum. :smile2:

Dude i had to go through your Gobbotonia ( how ever you spelled it) all i can say is wow!!! that is some fantastically creative stuff :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Very impressive! Did you mostly just do head swaps with 5th/6th edition state troops to make these work?
-
Fantastic! Great conversion work.
Now you need some Inner circle squig knights and maybe a captain on a flying squig :icon_biggrin:
More pics please

They're almost civilised.

Look at the thread on warseer he linked. The first 29 pages are his Bret Gobbos (which are definitely worth a look as well), and from then on it's the Empire Gobbos. There are some pics of the stank conversion, although none of it fully painted yet.

thanks for the comments :smile2:

That is the coolest blasphemy I've ever seen.
Have 7 on my tab! :::cheers:::

Heresey~ But serisously its quite a cool army and you have done a great job of translating goblins into empire units.
-
Right now we could be saying: "burn the heretic".
But that would me there would be no more posts, so I call upon them to exempt you.
-
:eusa_clap: Very well done! A nice comical twist on the Empire! The Sigmarite gobbo-priest is REALLY funny! :::cheers::: very nice! Sigmar would have none of it. :biggriin:

squigs are my next fav GW invention after the goblins and I have dozens of these models, so I decided I must find a spot somewhere to include them in my army.

Just read your entire blog on warseer...you've given me a very very very difficult problem.
On one hand I want to share the link with everyone I know because your army(s) are just so incredibly awesome. On the other hand if I do share then I won't be able to shamelessly copy your idea....
-
Perfect idea to have the squigs in a flaggelant unit, squigs are awsome. Great work as always, keep em coming!
-
It's got squigs (they're funny), squig riders (they're funny too) and there's also a squig herder (the one with the pipes no less, he's very funny)!!

As a fellow Goblin to other armieser (I went with Gobbo Dwarfs) I have to say you've done a fantastic job. Especially the steam tank. Where'd you get that enginners head?
That head on the Arch Lector is the one I allways use for characters as well.
-
These look far too good.
Well done!
-
A Snotling cherub, just when you think you've seen it all.... :::cheers:::
-
:eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: wow
-
Well done! I once used goblin wolfriders as the foundation for Empire pistoliers when my budget prevented the purchase of the metal guys... I mixed the empire free company torso with the long coat with the legs of a wolf rider and sent them off as my 'Wolves of the Sea'. Worked well.
That aside, your inner circle knights are incredible! Did you greenstuff the wolf-blankets? Any chance we could get a clsoe-up, or two, of these pretty little guys?

yes, I greenstuffed the wolf-barding. You can see lots of pics of my gobotonnia knights in my warseer post from the link in post #1

Indeed, I am enjoying every second of it. Brilliant!
-
:Ohmy:FREAKIN AWESOME !!!!! :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:
-
I don't personally like the theme but looking at these latest pictures and I really can't help but admire it now, very well done.
-
That actually gives me a lot of ideas for my own Altdorf Steam Tank. It won't be Gobbed, but I like the overall paint scheme. I may use black though.
-
Great.
But how doe the 'pump' tank propel itself?
-
there are 2 goblins at the back, "pumping" the tank
-
Great.

Don't you know anything about Orcs, Goblins, or Orks? It goes because they Believe!
They make it go with their HOPES and DREAMS!! :biggriin:
-
The Pumptank is just awsome, and I really love that Arch Lector with the baby snotling cherub. Your work never stop to amaze me.
-
There is a massive bike in london a bit like that.
It seats 16 people in fourrows of four and you can rent it on stag nights as it has a bar built on the top.
-
This army is... amazing. I love it all, keep it coming!
-
Sorry to be a bit pessimistic.
But how do they generate their form of steam points for the pump tank?
-
I can just imagine 20 snotlings sneaking into the college of engineering and stealing one of the Empire's greatest weapon :icon_lol: Well done wonderful painting!
-
I imagine them all dressed in one big coat, with weird bulges and noises coming from inside, with the master engineer wondering why the junior engineer was an odd shade of green, always wore a hat, and had a big pointy nose.
-

More than likely it was a Sneaky Goblin git with a long fake beard posing as a dwarf, and the engineer always said that the dwarf must be sick from Imperial ale. (He spoke with a high voice, and was always a sickly shade of green.) Despite this, he showed the dwarf his plans. And there you have it.
-
Sigmar help us! ::heretic:: If our enimies are that clever we will have an archlector that worships nurgle in under a week! :biggriin:
-
Don't you know anything about Orcs, Goblins, or Orks? It goes because they Believe!
I love that aspect of 40K Orks their fluff. With Ork Slugga pistols failing to work and being declared not to work after examination by a weapon specialist of the Imperium. But when they give it to an Ork it actually shoots because the Ork believes it should work.
It's the power of the Waaagh!
Excellent Steam tank btw. That Gobbo Engineer looks fantastic!
