Anyway 1st pics are what it looked like until last night. New pics are what it looks like today!

Looks awesome.
-
Yes sexy indeed with the new wings. :::cheers:::
-
Awesome, really nice looking dragon. The wings looked cool from the beginning but the new ones is really great. Keep up the god work! :eusa_clap:
-
Thanks guys.
I'm thinking a red wash will clean the wings slightly and I need to clean the gery/blue spines as well (this model seems to always have a to-do list) Also the pics really hammer in the point that the reins SUCK!
Not sure what colour to do them, I'm worried that I have too much red already on the wings/rider so maybe blue?
also the tail horn looks horrible but it's a bad little conversion so going to leave it and realize for next time not to do something like this (going to get a 2nd dragon for my 4000pt list - or maybe use the dragon model for make a manticore...)
-
Looks awesome, the blending on the new version looks a lot better.
The brighter colors make more of an impact too. Great job!
-
Thanks swan.
Not too bad for a drybrush collection is it!
-
I think that I may have to copy those wings, really good job! drybrushed? steveb
-
yea.
It was:
model colour flat red
game colour red & blue in 3:2 (makes a burgundy/purple wash)
deneb stone wash
flat red dry brush
flat red 3:1 light orange dry brush
flat red 1:1 light orange dry brush
bright orange dry brush
bright orange 2:1 light orange dry brush
light orange dry brush
yellow dry brush
yellow dry brush
carmine red wash (done after images taken).

Of course Ben, that is not just drybrushing sloppily, that is drybrushing with style.
-
It proves drybrushing can be just as effective a technique as any other. Looks the shizzle :biggriin:

thanks man, the body and the scales are also drybrushed actually in a far more obvious manner.
I don't think you get the full range of colour because I spread the yellow out too much but I'm still very proud of the work and all your responses, next is to work on my Black Guard (may try and revive my delf blog or start a new one).

One of the two guys who really "taught" me how to paint hated drybrushing and out of hand disliked anymodel the technique was used on. The other excelled at drybrushing and could get blends and colour highlights that were sheer awesome.
Can't tell you how much it means for people to like it considering my last batches of models were painted 3am beforea tourney and I was so out of my mind (my other hobby...) that I couldn't even see straight. This is the 1st thing I've painted proper in months now.

:eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: what can i say that has not already been said :::cheers:::
-
Nice wings Ben! I iked the wings before, but that is really something else!
-
Hey, that looks really great!
-
thanks again guys.
-
Why did you photograph it sitting on your computer... Otherwise nice
-
I can only echo Warlord. The wings were very good, but the new painting is fabulous :eusa_clap:
-
Ben, I woukldnt touch it with any wash, it looks perfect as it is.

How could I also show off my computer if I didn't photoshoot with it? :engel:

I figured that was why, you wanted to show off your "new computer". Nice Dragon, like the new wings.
-
Nice work :) I might steal the techniques for the wings :)
-
Hi Nicholas,
I was actually quite found of the first version of the reins, too bad you didn't keep them. The current version just look ... in progress.
Your wings are pure gold ( I would say melting gold)

I was kiddin dude hence the smiley, fact is I paint in front of my computer and wasn'tabout to muck around moving and so on so just took the photos and immediately updated it. I've had the computer for a month now, would have mentioned it AGES ago had I wanted too (infact I did)
Porkix - the reigns aren't good at all, I asked for a colour suggestion above but no one gave me one, what would you suggest.
-
Wow! What an impressive sight! :::cheers:::
I imagine it is a pain to trasport though...
-
Wow, very well done! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
Thanks for posting the recipe, too.
And that computer keyboard looks funky! In a good way.
-
sorry for being late about this but blue would have been a nice color on the reins
amazing work overall with great wings.
-
Nicholas,
You might reuse the colour of the draping you have done under the seat. This might balance more the mini. But the surface is bigger as well so you might have to apply more layer so it looks more smooth.
Just my pick.

I imagine it is a pain to trasport though...
to date the spear has broken off EVERY time I transport it even though it is pinned
the tail horn has broken off 5 times I really should pin it
1 wing snapped off and I had to pin it in place so 1 wing is always there...
the entire model was destroyed last week (both wings, spear, head horns, tail spike, 1 hand) when my mate threw a big heavy cushion on top of it. I was holding it at the time and it cut my hand to ribbons I have 3 nice scars now running from my index finger knuckle to my wrist in a diagonal line.
I fixed it just before I took the photos.
-
Sounds to me like the Dragon is cursed. You should probably get rid of it before the curse spreads to anything else in your collection and everything you have starts breaking... :engel: I'm sure that there are lots of people around here who would be willing to risk the curse to help you out!
-
yea?
I just don't think I could live with myself if I ever found out my cursed dragon affect another gamer. Best one person stays cursed then spreading the horror
