Is 3 units of Flagellants in 3K too much? I am running a list with several Warrior Priests & the Arch Lector/War Altar. Kind of a religious crusade. No Steam tank, Hellblaster, Hellstorms, Greatswords.

If you're going for a religious theme then 3 units of flagellants seems right on target to me. Plus, they're hilarious fun.
-
Well I figured its kind of balanced out by no other "Rares"(Steamtank, Hellblaster, Hellstorm) and no Greatswords. So they are my "elite" fighters. (LOL.) Several Warrior Priests, the Arch Lector, some Militia, maybe even some hounds/war dogs for the theme. A few blocks of State troops, along with 2 cannons & 2 mortars.

Go with 3 units of 30 then

My dream is to one day have that many in my army. So expensive to do however !$!

Rock on bro, it will be awesome, trust me. Bring the waralter and maybe a light wizard to buff those pimps up.

I've always wanted to field 90 Flagellants in an army just to see the look on the enemie's face. Sadly my wallet and painting energy are not up to the task. I'd go for it if you have the means to do so.
-
why would it not be ok? They're not that overpowered.

Wasnt sure. I just wanted a few opinions. I dont wanna be cheesey! :-D
Thanks!

I think it's thematic and can look very nice on the table. It is not as rock hard as you might think though. I watched a game where 3 units of thirty flagellants were wiped off the table top by equal numbers of skeleton warriors in just a few short rounds of combat. Granted this was last edition and the skeletons got the charge. I'm sure flagellants can form a decent center, I just wanted to give you a heads up.

No surprise. Im not expecting any miracles. They'll be good vs. some and horrible vs. others.
-
Absolutely. The important thing is how cool the army will look. Flagellants, a couple warrior priests, some templar knights, a tricked out war altar, perhaps some sisters of sigmar as greatswords, or a big angry horde of free company. You could make some REALLY cool unit fillers too! It sounds like a really fun, and creative project. Also, flagellants can be really easy to paint thanks to devlan mud washes.

It would be nice with a unit of greatswords to, as represented by templars of Sigmar on foot.
-
Im planning atleast 2 30 man units in my army. Gonna be sweet.

Flagellants + Lore of Light Buffs (Time warp or Speed of light are both particularly good), or Lore of Shadow Debuffs on their target = pure bloodily win!
The more the merrier!
I run a unit of 20 with a prophet in most lists. They are fun, exciting and unpredicatble in every game I've played so far in 8th. Easily my favorite unit so far in 8th.
For example I Played a game the other night versus Beastmen, 4000 Points. On my second turn, the Flagellants charge a unit of 3 Pumbagores, sac 3 to the end is nigh! and proceed to obliterate all 3 Pumbagors before they even get to strike and then overrun into a Cygor. Sac 2 more to the end is nigh! and the Cygor evaporates in a spray of red mist. (2 Flagellants died to simultaneous return attacks)
One passed restraint test and a reform later the 13 that are left are charging into the rear of a large unit of minotaurs (9 with a Gore Bull) which is engaged in a bloody grind fest with my Halberd Horde and the Arch Lector also charges into their Flank to support as well.
Another 2 are sacrificed to the the end is nigh! and when all is said and done the Gore Bull stands alone (The Lector failed to kill him in the challenge, did 3 wounds though)
Anyhow those Flagellants racked up more than 750 points worth of kills............. and although the Prophet of Doom stood alone at the end of the game, they did not give up their 210 points!
I just don't get the people who say they suck.......
