Title: tyranid vs tau
Post by: Dammanz on February 05, 2012, 08:23:00 PM
So I know I created the Tau vs Eldar thread earlier but it turns out there are 7 (!) other Eldar players at the club (there are more Eldar than Space Marine players) so I decided to be a special snowflake and not play Eldar. I'm decided on the 'Nids cause I play Zerg in Starcraft and love the swarm idea.

So again I'm asking for help against Tau with the 'nids and just general Tyranid tips and tricks.

Thanks!

also as an aside, but I was on the Nid forum and oh boy did that place look like shit. The black background with bright red lettering and poor organization. To save my eyes and sanity I dont even want to try and get help there.

For better or worse, I play Tau, so here's what I'd say.

Get into close combat and the game is yours. Seriously. Suits can sort of hold their own against basic troops, but everything else in the army will roll right up in CC.

Watch out for flechette dischargers on the vehicles. They cause auto hits against charging enemies, and I'd always take them against 'nids.

Railguns will really mess you up, but probably mainly from tanks, which have the submunition option. Broadsides are hella accurate, but against anything T6 or up, they won't auto-pop it, and they don't do multiple wounds, so monsters shouldn't be too afraid of them.

The bread and butter of really any Tau army are the Crisis suits, which will jump around and lay down some serious fire. Corner them and lock them in CC as fast as you can.
