This is a list I am likely to be playing against in the near future. It looks incredibly lethal to me but I am unsure how to deal with it! Any advice is welcome.
Grandmaster 240
Halberd, pyscannon, 3 servo skulls
Inquisitor 63
power armour, hellrifle, daemon hammer, 3 servo skulls
10 grey knights 265
2 psycannons, psybolt, 5 halberds
10 grey knights 260
2 psycannon, psybolt, 4 halberds
5 terminators 245
3 halberds, 2 swords, psycannon, psybolt
4 paladins 230
2 halberds, 2 swords, 2 incinerators
1 henchman unit 142
2 deathcult, 2 crusaders, 2 servitors with heavy bolters, 1 multimelta, 4 warriors with carapace and hellguns
5 purgation marines 180
4 psycannons
5 purgation marines 180
4 psycannons
dreadknight 195
Gatling Psylencer, greatsword

Actually, that looks like a lot of inefficient choices really!
No transports? A dreadknight with the rubbish gun? Purgation squads? Terrible henchmen squad composition and bad inquisitor equipment?
What are you playing? If it's guard you could ruin their day with battlecannons and plasma.

Hi Rufus,
Its the list the guy is buying. Given how absurd the amount of psycannons in this list is, I am not going to tell him his henchman unit is a total bag of &$&$. Which it is! Me personally I like cheap inqusitor with a powerfist/weapon/daemonsword, 4 crusaders, 4 deathcults and 3 melta guys all riding in a chimera. :-D
Edit: The inquisitors equipment is based on his conversion of that Lord with the hammer and eagle model. Torqmeda?
The dreadknight im unsure on. The gatling gun is pretty okay to my mind, and the other GK player in our group uses a heavy psycannon to very poor effect on his, which I guess has influenced his build decision.
The GM may possibly not be armed exactly like that. No one in the right mind pays that many points for a hq, but this is the list I have been sent that he is planning on. Obviously it could change a bit, but the mass psycannons wont. Im 99% certain he wont field transports, he has around 4 armies and none of them have more than one or two transport tanks because they "cost too much money" to buy. But buying brand new armies dont supposedly :?
Its likely I will be playing with either my marine army when it eventually gets finished [ 5 1/2 vehicles left to go!] or my guard. I think my executioner, medusa and collossus might all pop up against them. I may even need to go and buy some Deathstrikes. Marines are looking bad, due to being out shot and out fought in hand to hand, but I do own three landraiders when they eventually get assembled.
Purgation squads seem to be his favourite unit due to the insane amount of firepower on them. How many other units have 16 shots at s7 rending each? Im fairly certain none. If you have some tips on how I can kill them, be my guest lol.

Those purgation squads are expensive and extremely vulnerable. Pyscannons only have 24" range, so what's he going to do about battlecannon shots raining down on him? You can get four psycannons in a 10-man purifier squad at half the cost per cannon, and you'd also have a unit that is extremely good at fighting.
I think the heavy incinerator is the only gun worth taking on a dreadknight. Also, the knight ought to have a personal teleporter too, so that it has some actual mobility.
Is he intending to deepstrike all the strike squads and terminators? Of course, if he deepstrikes the grandmaster he can't make much use of psychic communion.
Obviously all those psycannons are nasty. But that army is not taking advantage of the other strengths of the grey knights book. I don't think I'd be too worried about facing it. It need transports!

I agree with Rufus.
Not that good a list.
That isnt THAT many psycannons. The best way to get firepower with GK is Corteaz with henchmen in assault cannon razorbacks and purifiers in razorbacks.
Purifiers are, in my mind, the best choice if you want psycannons. They have 2 attacks and can get 4 psycannons when in a group of 10.
He also has too many servoskulls. He only needs 3, not 6.
The list is fine.

We dont use special characters, thus no access to Coatez. :icon_biggrin:
Id expect his purgation units to deploy in cover, usually ruins as we have loads of them available and him to deep strike his terms, paladins and dreadknight. By deploying on multiple levels it limits heavily how effective blast marker guns are against units, as he will only have 1 or two models on each level. This effectively leaves my guard a bit limited on death dealing from tanks, unless I buy a Deathstrike. Due to the rules concerning barrage, only top floor levels are hit, so models on levels below the top one are totally immune to being hit by artillery.
If I am misreading those rules, please do let me know!
Our other GK player basically spams terminators. It has had very few successes, because he has a tiny amount of models, but has a lot more maneuverability as he uses storm ravens and land raiders.

You are right about the barrage rules, but i think that you can choose to fire direct as well.
Buildings are really good at protecting infantry, but remember that it costs 3" to up a level, so it will slow him down a lot. Just shoot him with plenty of autocannon shots instead :P Remember that the strikesquads can also deepstrike.
Anyway. If he deepstrikes, he might shoot something, but then he will be bunched up nicely for the pie plates. If he runs, when then it will be nice because he won't shoot ;)
Terminator spam is good against some armies that doesnt have access to Ap2, but most do.

Unfortunately the Colossus siege mortar, with the best marine killing gun you can get at long range has no option to fire direct. Im fairly certain the Manticore can't either, but he gets full saves vs its poor AP value anyway.
I agree autocannons are a good weapon to use vs grey knights, I just don't have very many models! Maybe I need to buy some.
