Title: 2.5K All comers Cav list
Post by: kobahl on April 09, 2013, 11:52:12 AM
Hello all. First time posting a Empire list and I hope to bring this one to a tourney. I really like the idea of a fast moving all Cav list. I went with just a L3 wizard as I figure between him and prayers I will have enough spells for whatever dice I get. And Heavens has all the spells I will need to do the trick. Area denial with the comet, Sig and #1 spells for buffing/debuffing and a couple MM's. So I should get what I need.

I have 3 re-directors with the small knights units. Mobile fire support from the tanks. Each big cav unit has a priest for buffing and flaming attacks if needed. Luther will be my General. Him and the BsB will go with the Reiik knights. Other WP will go in the ICK. Wizard can fly around to lend magic support where needed. So if anybody has any suggestions/tweaks that would be great.

Luther Huss

Battle Lord Wiz L4: Talisman Preservation, dispel scroll, Pegasus  Heavens Lore

WP: HA, E. shield, barded warhorse

Captain BsB:  Full plate, shield, lance, barded warhorse, Banner of steel

3 x 5 knights: Musician

14 IC knights: FC

3 DGK: Standard, musician, banner of swiftness

12 RGK; FC, standard of discipline

2  Tanks

Like it. Huss is a great general.

I'd put extra points into making your Lvl3 a Lvl4. Not for the offense, but for the defense.

Otherwise, I think you just need to get it on the table and play a bit.

Don't be afraid to flee a lot! Be patient, and wait for multi-charges.

Well I had enough points to boost him to L4. Give my lone knight unit a musician like the other 2 knight units. And give my DGK the banner of swiftness. Now I will have a better spell selection for my wizard and the extra +1 for casting/dispelling. And I have always liked really fast Cav. DGK with a M of 9 will be sweet. Now just need to get it to the table and practice with it. I'll put up some Bat reports of the games and let people know how it's working out.

Excellent! Battle reports are a great way of giving back to the community, and building our skills.

I like this list.  It looks solid.  I would love to know if the retreating to achieve multi-charges is successful, though that may depend more on your opponents than your list.

I use it all the time with small units of vanilla knights. I also flee with Demigryphs. It's taken a long time to get used to thinking about "flee lanes" as well as fire lanes and charge lanes, but there are a lot of opponents out there who will set themselves up because they can't imagine 3 Demigryphs fleeing a charge.

I've come to think that fleeing is the most underrated ability a general has.
