OK i revised a few things and here is the new list

Arch Lector
War Alter
Heavy Armour
Shield
Dragonhelm
Talsiman of Endurance

Battle Wizard Lord
Lvl 4
Scroll

Master Engineer

Captain
BSB
Full Plate
Enchanted Shield
Dawnstone
Ironcurse Icon
Warrior Bane

42 Halberdiers
FC

10 Handgunners

5 Empire Knights
Great Weapons
Musician

5 Inner Circle Knights
Musician

30 Greatswords
Musician
SB

3 Demigryph Knights
Musician

Great Cannon

Hellblaster Volley Gun

Steam Tank

Celestial Hurricanum

Changes

1. Added a few Halberdiers to make up for the shortfall in core after dropping one unit of Inner Circle Knights.

2. Gave the Arch Lector the Talisman of Endurance. I really wanted the Talisman of Preservation on him but i just couldn't find the points without hacking into the Greatswords. I had to drop the champion from the Greatswords and the SB/Flaming Banner from the Demigryph's to get this far.

3. With the last 5 points i gave the Battle Standard Bearer a 5 point magic sword to help deal with ethereal chaff.

Another change that might be worthwhile is changing the Hand-gunners to Archers. They can march/shoot and are more resistant to missile fire. I think they would maybe make a more reliable bunker for the wizard lord with their ability to move freely.

Any thoughts?

Sorry my bad did not read it properly thought there was a full command on both of the I suppose that's what you get for trying to read an army list when your half asleep after a long nights work lol
Haha no probs mate I know that story well!

I see where you are comming from with the two knight units now the only problem is that you can only take one unit of inner circle knights as it states on page 43 of the empire
Good point! I didn't even see that lol. I will change this.

Beware, War Altar ward doesn´t pass to the Lector, find some points to give him the Talisman of Preservation.
Aha! I wasn't sure on this one, thank you for pointing this out.

I will post a revised list when I get a chance.

Thank you for the reply steven.

The inner circle knights I kind of want to keep as cheap 5 man units. They are only included as redirectors and flank hitters and not intended to be a major threat. The other reason I want two units over one is for the extra early chaff drop so I can get favourable match ups for mt main combat units. Hope this makes sense.

I'm a little lost on where the 32 points comes from? By combining them I would only save 10 pts on musicians leaving me with 12 given my current remaining 2 points.

Hey folks I usually play high elves and I have decided to start an empire army as a side project.

I come humbly asking for your analysis and advice regarding my list. Any C&C is welcome and i will follow with the list and reasoning behind my choices below.

So without further ado, the list

Arch Lector
War Alter
Heavy Armour
Shield
Dragonhelm

Battle Wizard Lord (Shadow)
Lvl 4
Scroll

Master Engineer

Captain
BSB
Full Plate
Enchanted Shield
Dawnstone
Ironcurse Icon

40 Halberdiers
FC

10 Handgunners

5 Inner Circle Knights
Musician

5 Inner Circle Knights
Musician

30 Greatswords
FC

3 Demigryph Knights
SB
Musician
Banner of the Eternal Flame

Great Cannon

Hellblaster Volley Gun

Steam Tank

Celestial Hurricanum

2498 pts

OK from the top

Arch Lector - This guy i really like an he eliminates the need for multiple priests that i probably won't get power dice for anyway. The war alter is a nice bit of kit and its 4+ ward should keep it on the battlefield for some time.

Battle Wizard Lord - Tried to keep this guy cheap, more for magic defense than anything (God i miss the Annulian crystal ). I chose the lore of shadow as the hexes tend to draw dispel dice and it puts pressure on the opponents offensive phase by use of R.I.P spells. The war alter provides the much needed magic missile for my army that shadow lacks. Any thoughts on the lore choice?

Master Engineer - Keeps the Hellblaster reliable

Captain BSB - 2+ rerollable should keep him on his feet and he should keep the halbardiers around long enough to provide an anvil for the faster elements.

Halberdiers - Nice anvil for my hammers to strike off.

Handgunners - Cheap detachment bunker for my mage.

Inner Circle Knights - Excellent for dealing with chaff and flank charging engaged units. Also useful as re directors for enemy death-stars.

Greatswords - Another stubborn and spiky anvil. Originally picked the reiksguard but i feel that these guys have better synergy with the Altar and Hurricanum.

Demigryph Knights - For tar pitting and some heavy flank charges. Gave them the flaming banner to help deal with monsters and units such as trolls.

Artillery - Brings some much need firepower and monster slaying ability. Would've liked 2 cannons but couldn't find the points. The Steam tank will hopefully fill this void somewhat.

Steam Tank - Love this  :biggriin:

Celestial Hurricanum - Fantastic unit. I'd take this for the +1PD and +1 to hit alone.

I've had one game with this list so far (on Universal Battle) and I won against a fairly solid death slann list. The Demigryphs tar pitted his slanns unit long enough for the greatswords to break through and hit them with a flank charge sealing his fate. The steam tank destroyed his steg turn 1 and provided a heavy flank threat whilst the inner circle knights dealt with his chaff on the other flank well.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, all thoughts and comments are very welcome.
