It look good IMO. ,just be careful of units that have greater movement than your cav. units ad you should do fine.

Don't expect to much point on army composition...

3
I take it you had the Priest in with the Knights in a formation of 4x2, correct?  Why no Great Weapon on him as well?  Did you want the highest possible Armour Save?
Yes that's right, though I use 6 wide with 2 spare on the back(sometimes 7 wide) ,I had enough point to add the GW I just forgot to include it as I usually do but I use the shield most of the time anyway for better save and let the knights do the killing.

How did the Helblaster work for you?

Well ,I didn't use the 6th ed. hellblaster often (a bit too powerful and eh...too explosive) now it's quite fare for the price IMO ,the most important part is that it had psycological effect on my opponent ,even if he told me ''wow you took a hellblaster ,now it's crap'' he DID everything he could to neutralize it...

I must say I like it as it explode only on a 1 now (and 6 but...)although I've been cursed by the dice god with my shooting on those games ,I've failed to kill the gyro at short range with 16 hits only did 2 wounds :icon_mad: then it exploded doing 20 shots in a unit of Ironbreakers killing 5 models. At 110pts I don't expect too much so...

Against the BoC I've failed to dispell a spell of move and got charged by warhounds in the first turn  :eusa_wall: (as I had moved 4'' foward as I got the first turn, facing 13 pw dice make you want to take the first turn when you can  :icon_rolleyes: )  but 1 crew resisted and got saved by my 10 flaggelants unit ,then the shaggoth point out and I thought ''shaggoth ,large target ,3+ to hit ,it's gonna be his doom'' then reality came back when he told me ''Terror test'' which I failed

I'm suppose to play again tomorrow ,without my beloved war altar but a stank :icon_cool:

My opponent really hated playing against the War Altar(which never died)...it's under costed and way to powerful and I think I'll have to play it on occasion only  :icon_frown: against him anyway.

He think that the stank is nearly useless now and I think I'll replace my WA for it to show him he's wrong as I personnally think it is very strong even now.I'll put my AL on horse with dawn armor in the GS unit and manage the point to get to 2250 by removing 1 nilla knight+ 1 outrider unit.

I feel that 20 Xbows would fare better than outriders too...2 det. of 10 or something like that

HLR are something I should resist to take too

« on: May 02, 2007, 10:32:38 AM »
IMO Dragons should not be seen under 3-4K.

Yes Karl Franz does belong to Death Claws but I think riding a horse is fine too.

Personnally this dragon thing from the zoo is out of place in an Empire army.

« on: April 27, 2007, 06:40:42 PM »
Hmmm , I just saw that from another post and thought it was a great idee ,use throwing axes for your pistoliers...+1S AP

the DE repeater Xbows suit the outriders just fine IMO. They are experimental weapons so there is few of them ence why normal Xbows are still on the line(with different ruleset).

Although I'm too lazy to do such a repport the biggest combat I was involved in was in a battle of 3 armies of 5000pts against the same ,so 15000pts against 15000pts :icon_eek: .Let say I nearly fell asleep as it was a very long game on the floor...

I was playing chaos and randomly found myself allied with HE and Bret. to face VC,Lizard and Skaven!!

It was not fluffy but it was epic

The last thing you should do when rolling to wound is saying "Anything but a 1"

You're quite right ,the only time I yield this I rolled 1 :icon_confused: then my giant fell on my opponent scorpion(TK) didn't touch him but killed a chariot beind. Next turn I get up ,he did nothing I won by 1(flank/outnumber/construct) ,next he kill my giant who fell on him scoring 3W(out of D3W) ,very funny combat where that scorpion more than paid itself back considering I charged.

So now instead of telling my opponent ''you save on 2+'' I yield on 1 you die and it work.

May the force be with you(if you think it help)

OH Ya the Steam Tank Now Really sucks that Its basically GIVING your Oppenent 300pts

Well at least now I can take one (the 6th ed. was to cheesy so I left it home) and used carefully it's still very strong.

I too think that NEB is better and I'm overall very please with it .What was crap keep being crap and for the rest it's been improved.

The hellblaster was a game breaker IMO now it's fair ,for those who liked it now you got a rocket :icon_rolleyes: so you must buy it to keep your game breaker style unit(good for you). The griffon standard is still there and less likely to be expected every game, that's good. The engineer ,well I would not want to see more Empire gunlines so I think they did ''well'' by keeping it that way(I may be the only one :icon_biggrin:)

I don't see that much GW mistakes in this ,people will buy state troop box anyway even if they don't build halberdiers who cares ,the only mistake in this is that if they'd make them so much better most of you would have wanted to replace your swordsmen for them$$$.

Personnally I would use my halberdier/shield instead of swordsmen if only they where painted  :icon_rolleyes:

Who can blame a company to want to make max profits nowaday. I personnally think that we have a very good product that keep us interested in ,not perfect as it must be so we can talk about it :icon_wink:

I only play Empire (right now) but I would like to say something in the defense of Khornate Chaos (and Bretonnia, I guess). Sometimes its fun to only have to worry about running at the enemy and killing them!

What they lack in tactics (and subtlety) it makes up for in brute force and simplicity

Isn't it scary when a good player gets ahold of chaos?

Anyways, my cent (not a full 2 cents)

I've rarelly lost with my Chaos army(humbly). And my army is fair ,no one ever told me it was cheese.

Yes there is THAT feeling of power through you when you crush everything in your path, more so when i razed a Bret. army in 3 turn at my local club tourny!

Yes I felt proud when I've beaten THE best player I know in my region for the first time using my chaos army (this guy loose like 1 or 2 time per year :icon_eek:)

But as a primary army I think it's a bad choice, better left for special occasions when my hearth unger for blood...

But Empire tend to give me that much more satisfaction, with good results as I rarelly loose with it either.

IMO The trick is always to try to end the game with as minimal casualties as possible, the term ''expendable'' for a unit should never come as a 1rst thought.)
Sorry man, Im a natural born slave driver! I try and end the game with a minor-victory and everything dead

You bastard!! I'll raise the bounty to 100 000 crowns for your head.

Well I just think that sacrificing a unit should only be for desperate situation, just my way :engel:

Also remember that frenzied troops MUST pursuit/overun ,use it to your advantage ,if you manage to charge keep this in mind.

Charging them in the flank will probably lead them out of their line so you can shoot them more.

The Electors' Forum / Re: Why no pikemen for empire?
« on: April 26, 2007, 04:05:25 PM »
Do I ever!

But let me ask you this, as this is a cunclusion I came to myself.

If we had regular Pikeman, they'd have detachment rules, and we'd be able to put characters (like Hatred causing Warrior Priests!) in with them.

Would Pikemen with full Imperial rules not be a bit broken and make us too powerful?

It WOULD be too powerful or ewh as powerful as they should be :icon_rolleyes:

We are not in real world here ,let what's the poor DoW to them I say.

The Electors' Forum / Re: Outriders do you use/need a musician
« on: April 26, 2007, 03:56:37 PM »
The champion with HLR is tempting but he makes an expensive unit more expensive and he must be teamed with other HLRs to be effective.  I am not sold on him either.  I definetly will go with a musician thanks guys.  How many of you use a champion with HLR?  Is it worth it?

I use 1 in each of my 2 units ,overall I'm please with them ,I see them like warmachines : Sometimes they suck but they always frighten my enemies.

As I rarelly use warmachines nowaday ,I find them worth it ,36'' range is very good and they can shoot at different target than the rest of their unit .They can shoot warmachine crews, mages(My magic got better) ,champions(Think challenge).

All and all every bits they do is a bonus IMO

Nice read, whats not to agree with? Whatev, if we dont like the game theres other options (War Machine?)

If I ever go this way this wound be Armies of Arcana cuz it's very similar to warhammer(even better some might say) and you can play with ANY minis you like ,give them the rules that suit you(with the formula given with the book) and play with the fluff that you like!!So keep the good old warhammer fluff and give proper stat to your models and voila!! You play a new age warhammer.

Il'll buy the AoA rule book someday and try to convert myself and others :engel: (it's cheap to buy too)

Much like a well known Prophet called Gargoyle.

Let say you're lucky that your girl even gave it a try.

That being said ,never let her surpass you or she'll be unfaithful with a better player than you... :icon_wink:

Better let her to the paint shop :icon_cool:

Kidding...Nice repport.

I still use one cause they can be use as bait and flee when situation need it.

Also ,in draw combats the +1 res. HAS served me well more than often.

It's not like it cost so much...

The Electors' Forum / Re: HGunners as det?
« on: April 25, 2007, 06:38:32 PM »
I'm not to fund on such a tactic ,I mean as a planned tactic. You will spend point like 40+pts/det. to rush in front of your enemy and think: if he charge I redirect/flee him if not I shoot him to hell.

If your opponent got bait well for you.

If not you'll have sacrifice them for nothing as your opponent (if clever enough) will just take the time to analyse the situation and counter you (with support units/shooting and such).

I think this should be left for desperate situation that require this.

IMO The trick is always to try to end the game with as minimal casualties as possible, the term ''expendable'' for a unit should never come as a 1rst thought.)

It depend on your opponents too...

The Electors' Forum / Re: Cannons... A Necessary Evil?
« on: April 25, 2007, 05:57:42 PM »
All in all, I think people crutch too much on cannons.  Yeah they are good and people fear them (especially chariots), but it is possible to win without them.  It just requires careful maneuvering and fleeing instead of saying a number and rolling an artillery dice twice.

Agreed. They are good but not a must. Now all those war machine hunters find themselves out of proper easy prey.

Nemesis Crown Board / Re: Knights of Sigmar - Expanding
« on: April 25, 2007, 05:35:34 PM »

Are we following the picture from the site, and saying the use Great Weapons?

I would use the ''heavy'' axe and shield with the same rules as the lance and shield. +2S on the charge (To heavy to have any bonus after this just like flails ,except that we use one handed heavy axes)

If you tell your opponent that the big axes are treated just like lance I don't see why they would mind. After all it's just a converted knightly order.
