Too bad the rules only allow that.  I'll make my own up.  Don't know if the Storm of Magic rules would let me get away with it being a Wizard Lord on phoenix.  I haven't actually played Warhammer for 15 years or so, so rules were not a consideration at all.  So it's all about the modelling and painting for me.  (Mostly buying and partly putting together, and never getting to the painting)

I quite like that new High Elf pheonix, so I thought I'd pop up the local gW shop and get one.  It wasn't until walking back that I had an idea that I could put a Bright Wizard on it, and make it an Empire one, so when I got home I raided the bitz box.

Chopped up a Deathclaw Head, Barding from an already chopped up Demigriff.  Various bits to make a wizard, and Greenstuff to cover up the gaps and stuff

I didn't want to start a new thread: I stumbled across this unidentified mini via google - does anyone know what that is? Is it even from citadel? The helmet looks like a mix between the 1992 citadel knights panther and knights of the blassing sun helmets. At least it looks like it was from citadel. (Or does "TAG" mean it's from "The Assault Group"? Is that company even that old?)

Looks like Citadel. 1988-1990 sort of time. The beast thing on the helmet is Knights Panther without a doubt.  The wings are almost the same as the Kinights Panther Standard Bearer from around that time.  But not a specific mini that I recognise. Sculpt is very much 4th edition, but the detachable arm looks more like the 3rd edition Knights Panther.  And the TAG is a tag.  The 4th ed. knights all had those, presumably had tag on it to remind you to cut it off.

I suspect it's probably an unreleased prototype for the 4th ed Knights.  Which means Mr Chumley Warner will want to move heaven and earth to get his hands on it!

Of the top 8 in that picture, with the exception of the wizard, the legs and torsos are separate pieces, as is the right weapon arm.  So the mounted and foot versions are exactly the same torsos, but ususally with lance arms, and legs suitable for mounting on a plastic horse.

So if you can get hold of two versions of the mounted general, and some ordinary legs, you can then a foot version

£15-25 for the whole lot, I'd get them as fast as I could click the necessary links.

£15-25 each is still not a bad price for them.  But only if you want the whole set. They're a bit big big for trying to sneak in as normal Warhammer scale minis.

We're talking nearly 25 years ago.  Back then I would have bought most of my minis from mail order directly from citadel.  There was nearly always a new leaflet/flyer sent with every order, unless I did a few close together I rarely got the same ones. I suppose I could go through some of the old boxes in the spare room.  It's unlikely, but possilble that I still have some of those old flyers.  I know I don't have time to go digging.

Anyway, it's possible I saw it there and ordered it.  Or sent an order form off with a cheque.

Around that I was buying mostly minis I liked the look of, almost completely randomly, was a few years before I settled on Empire being my main Army, once I'd been playing WFRP and was the one I preferred in Mighty Empires and Man O' War.

It's a shame I swapped some stuff with a mate, who's since got rid of all his stuff.  Most of my really old stuff is therefore Empire or Khorne, and a few odd 40k bits and bobs

So what sort of money does this thing typically go for?
And what would it be without the crew?

What sort of distance from miniature to camera is good?
I often find if I move my miniature too far from the background I use it really loses focus, but that's not a problem, the close to the back ground suits me, but would still be good to get an idea of how close I should get with the macro function on

I have no problem with colour or levels, they seem right to me, and the lighting seems ok. 

It's just focus and clarity I struggle with.  I don't have a tripod, but I can probably set things up on a more stable surface, so the camera has less chance of getting shaky.

I think from the above, I should figure out how to use the timer option

I'm afraid I don't have any better focused pictures.  In fact my picture taking is pretty crap.  Sometimes I get lucky.  I reckon I am consistently
dropping around a point or more because of the photos.  I think my Countess is better painted than the other one.  She also looks very cross-eyed in the photo, which she doesn't in front of me.

I'm going to try and get the rest of the coach I was building for her done this month, maybe I will get lucky and a half decent photo will come out.


Oh and Graf Alberich Haupt-Anderssen, "The Hawk of Wurtbad" is Elector of Stirland.

I don't think I can get built in time let alone get it painted, an entry for March. Might be able to get it built.  I know what I've got in mind, as I have had it for a long-long time.

Might put it off and wait to find out what April's theme is
