That sounds like a good plan, I have always played armies with next to no missle troops so I wanted to try out how well the Huntsmen would work. The force has alot of shooting but do you think it has enough staying power?

Wicked, I really like that idea!! Ive got some of the classic Knights Panther models as well so that can work.

Fluff wise they could have been asked by the Teutogen Captain to help repel invaders and protect the shrine of Ulric.

Do you think I could get away with using no Knights? What could I replace them with that hits hard and is also going along with middenland theme?

How well do white wolf knights play compaired to normal lance weilding knights? I was thinking of a small unit of 5 as a flanking unit?
I know they lack the 1+ As and strike last, but its a shame that they dont have frezy or something as they come across to me like they should do!! Does anyone else think so?

Ive made a small starting list for the force let me know if you think this is a good start,

Ive worked out that I will only need three free company box sets to make the force, but where do you think I could go from there?

The Parade Ground / 500pts Middenheim list
« on: March 12, 2010, 09:31:48 AM »
Hi guys,

This is my first ever list, Im going for a militia style list:

Captain: full plate armour, great weapon/halberd

24 Swordsmen: Full command
10 Free company(detatchment)
5 Archers(detatchment)

10 Crossbowmen

10 Huntsmen

total: 501

Im mostly going to be playing dark elves, skaven, dwarfs, ogres and O&G. I just wondered how you guys think this list will perform? Thanks guys

Ive had a think and I think im going to go for a militia style middenland force led by a Teutogen Captain rallying a small village or town to repel invaders. Mostly made from the militia box sets, Im thinking:

1 Teutogen Captain(which I already have)
20 Swordsmen
10 Crossbowmen
10 Huntsmen
Possibly some free company as detatchments

Most of the force will contain the heads and hammers from the middenland sprue.

I want to start off small and slow build the force up. What do people think?

Its just a shame that they didnt keep the rule for cavelry hammers, as the +1 S and the strike last makes them a little weak I feel. If I was going to use them this way is there any advise you could give me on how to use them? I am new to playing the empire and any advise on how to really make a good theme for this force will be welcome.

Thanks

I agree longbows need to be brought back, the captains can have them so why can't hunters who are suppose to be the hunters/scouts for the army! Also 10 min is to many maybe 5-8 min would be a good idea!!

Im loving the great cannon, really nice scenic bass!!

Hi guys

Ive just come back after a short break and Ive found a massive new love for the hobby again!! So Im thinking of starting a new army of middenland, but I was curious do you reckon that I could possibly use the 'army of middenland' list from the storm of chaos book, but using the 7th edition empire book instead of the 6th? Which it was written for.

Its just because I really like the list and the combat heavy nature of the force, I was thinking of a mostly infantry based force backed up possibly by a mortar and plenty of huntsmen(as they can have any amount of huntsmen, which most of you probably know). Also do you think people will be ok with me using the cavelry hammer rule from the storm of chaos book?

Any advise you could give me on starting this force would be fantastic and your help and experience will be most welcome. Thanks guys

Is that T2 on the ludwig dopplekranz, i feel that would be alittle low but other than that he looks very cool!!

I feel that what Folken said is good it would be good for a few of us to play test them to see how they work out!

I think the bright wizard is awesome, I might have to make a model for him!!
