Warhammer 40k Discussion / Re: Army builder?
« on: November 03, 2017, 12:44:15 PM »
Battlescribe user here my self (and also updater for the AoS section... if they get their head around a technical update I can't help fix..)

And GW has said on several occasions to come out with their own as a 40k counterpart for Warscroll Builder, but I don't know how long it will take them to launch it.

yeah still high here also. Though I'm longing for some AoS games soon too.. been too long since I could get a trip in to the GW store to play as my local club doesn't have many AoS players and the few that are also have their focus on 40k at the moment.

Also the Data Cards are very handy indeed!
The Open War cards are a must to spice up your casual gaming with some interesting gameplay diversions
The gauge is OP! And I don't mean Over Powered but Over Priced.. It's a handy tool but not worth that much

(You could always look at Soth with puppy eyes to make you one like he did for me. Still use those alot as it's just a bit handier in smaller spaces than the range rulers)

Had another friendly 1k battle versus a combined chaos spez marines chaos daemons (Slaanesh) list. Trying to get the full armylist so I can rebuild it myself to figure out more about listbuilding with Chaos in particular but also how to others view their detachment roles.

Here is what he had that I can remember

Daemon Prince (Slaanesh)
Herald of Slaanesh on steed

3x Daemonettes (10 each)
Chaos Furies (5?)
5 Warptalons

and another biggie with some heavy shooting, he had either a model I can't find on GW store or a FW one.

Anyway It was a fun maelstrom battle which I thought I would loose heavy especially with my poor placements and loosing first turn. Most my troop choices and warlord (the ethereal) got evaporated in 2 turns (even though I got First Blood by setting fire to the furies). But my Commander and my Crisis suits where the saviors of the day. The double flamers squad lit up a lot of the bigger units and even did some nice damage on the bigger stuff
Eventually winning me the maelstrom on points 13-11 but also in bottom of 5th I managed to kill enough Daemonettes from the last surviving unit so the rest fled on the morale check.
I only had my Commander left on 1 wound, the 3 crisis suits, 1 stealth suit and my markerlight drone unit (4 ML and 1 shield drone)

command dice
maelstrom dice
command guage

No, just an addition that can look great but can be done with normal substitutes.
Maelstrom cards are helpful if you and you opponent have a deck

where did you hear this?

Only thing that I can come up with is that now with the new Generals HandBook 2017 you can use 20% of your list value as allies, so then you might be able to use beastmen with Skaven (at the moment I don't know if beastmen are able to ally with Skaven or viceversa.. every faction has it's list of possible allies)

Hi Steg, those are very nice figures. Would you mind sharing how you painted the lights on the recon-drone. Cheers scrubber.

Very easy actually, start with Stormhost Silver to set a base and the use the new gemstone paints from GW, and you apply them first where you want it to be lightest and then push it towards the opposite end where you want it to be darkest. Keep the surface stable when drying so it won't move back. Currently you have those gemstone colors in red, blue and green.. (was hoping on a yellow variant, but not daring yet to try and mix them to get it..)

Beastmen seem to be a good army now in AoS with the GHB2017 abilities for them
Not sure about skaven yet.

Thanks guys! Hope fully I have alot of them finished for the next Eurobash. I'm still enjoying the painting of this scheme and the models so I'm still in a good flow for this and hope to keep it!

@Realjuan, They perform great in battle (even without commander spam) I really like how it synergizes. Nice shooting but eventhough they aren't a combat army you do really need to throw them in combat to tie up enemy shooting, after which you can fly out and shoot them again!

Barrage them -> fly in at high speed and tie them up -> fly out -> shoot them up again -> tie them up again with a new unit if need be. And still have the Manta strike option to get in their back field or support a flank that needs it.

Some nice progress there, but are you really going to keep adding to every single army you have? How many are there now? Five 40k armies?

yeah only requirement now is that you have to have 1 unit of guard of 20 or more bodies and 2 supporting of 10 or more of any kind of free guild unit.

not sure about the battalions

Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire looks set for October, and they've also revealed the Ironjawz warband.

And they've revealed Malign Portents.

"Dark powers stir in the Mortal Realms. Malign Portents is a major event for Warhammer Age of Sigmar players, and itís on the way in 2018. There will be big things coming both for the narrative of the setting and for matched play gamers."

I guess it's a summer campaign, along with probably a Death faction release

Most likely as this is promoted:

We also heard what the next three codexes will be following the release of Death Guard and Adeptus Mechanicus in September. Before the end of November, xenos fans will be pleased to see some of the galaxyís alien races get their codexes for the new edition with Codex: Craftworlds and Codex: Tyranids, while Codex: Astra Militarum lets fans of the Imperiumís vast human armies create thematic armies from their favourite Regiment.

per unit, you follow the fight sequence 1 to 6 (where 6 is the consolidate) per eligible unit. You end the Fight fase if you can't complete the number 1 step anymore.
