The Electors' Forum / A few questions (pictures included)

okay in my last game several events happened that me and my mate where unsure how to resolve(models used as proxy to illustrate the point)

okay heres the first. The issue arrose when his wardancers charged my archers, now the rules say that the closest model move into contact with the closest model which we get and then all his guys who can reach base to base with HIS model line up with them. after which my archers move into contact this is where the problem happened. i moved my archers into this position



now i thought that was okay because they where all in contact and that was the shortest move into position(plus to my advantage it keeps more prancers out of combat)

where as my mate thought that this was the correct placement, reason being he thought his prancers would make sure he got as many people in as possible, however the rulebook doesnt say i (the charged) have to maximise his contact, only that i have to bring as many into contact with an enemy.




now we all know the prancers will kill them anyway but the problem arrose because of the next picture





as you can see the treekin charged the detachment cause they could see them however because of my archer they would clip on a straight charge so they would have to wheel. now from what i can understand you only get one wheel on the charge and this wheel would cause the charge to miss as you can see from the yellow line.

so my questions really are what would happen.

The Parade Ground / 2000pts tourny list, need help balancing it

hi all this is my latest 2000pts list and im looking for advice on what to change and to to generally improve/streamline it.

so here we go

*i chose an arch lector for the magic defence and leadership. im not sure if i have equipped him well so advice is needed here. he will stay with the infantry line probably leading 3rd battalion greatswords to make best use of his hatred.

* this i believe will give me a solid battle line, my questions are:
1 are the greatswords a good choice,
2 where should the arch lector go, the greatswords seem like the best option to make use of hatred, but being stubborn makes them a good choice for the flank when really i want the general in the centre to give leadership to the other two battalions. what do you think

so what do you think? should i drop the knights and shuffle some point to get a warrior priest in there? should i swap out the greatswords for normal swordsmen, it would save alot of points?


this list needs to be able to take on all comers, from dragons(i think ill struggle against these) to giants to hordes. i cant help but think that ive nbot got enough tricks and gadgets to supprise my opponent

a marco columbo model

one of those night gobbo models where they are throwing the other out of the unit

and one of the josef bugman models only available from bugmans bar

my question is are these worth anything and if they are what part of the world

Is it a good idea to put a amythest mage in a unit of five knights? is it potentially good (mobility and lore of death are useful together) or a daft idea?

if I do how should i equip him (lv2 mage)

I am also interested in your past experiances with such a charecter

okay basically rather than me posting a new thread every time i want you guys to critisise my mini's i thought i would make this blog typee think where you guys can advise/comment

firstly we have my first ever attempt at NMM on this greatsword, this is the test subject and is still wip, i was hoping to have you guys let me know what you think of it





does it need another highlight?

secondly we have a repost of my tracker, this time with a clearer picture



and here is the wip member of the trackers with a small green stuff tutorial

step1 find the likely subject :icon_twisted:


step2 start by applying the GS to the model roughly by hand on the front and back (whack a blob on it :icon_smile:)



step3 now i used clay shapers to ease it out and cover the model so that it seemed to be wearing a flak vest



step4 this is a comparison of what i was trying to make(not exactly just similar)


step5using a tapered point clay shaper a drew some lines in the jacket in a loop style to make it look like a "baggy top". so i drew the lines and pushed them down slightly to make it look as though it was weighted (gravity :icon_rolleyes:)


step6back shot, again just some lines as eventually it will be covered by a cloak


step7the near finished model, all that is to be added is the cloak but that can wait



Thats it for now, let me know what you think. i have some more pictures to post and someother things in the works

my main opponent has recentley started taking waywatchers in unit size of 7. They are the be all end all of beards, I mean, I know the weeds are very powerful but flaming hammer of sigmar they are nasty.

my problem is that he normally targets my knights with them. Now they are already immensely powerful for their cost with their high BS but when im in short range they killing blow me! this means my small units of knights get decimated and i really need them for their mobility and punch against weeds and after that they just harrass me.

i have tried using handgunners to shoot them but hitting on 7's(long range skirmish and their damnable rule) means that i need not bother. I have contemplating using pistoliers but came to the conclusion it would never work.
the only time i have managed to kill one is when my galloper gun had a shot on one

My question to you, my fellow Empire generals is, how do you/would you counter them, do you have a specific unit in mind? Im relatively sure i can force his deployment(He'll go to where my knights are) so that may help.

okay at the moment i am working on some man eaters converted from ogre bulls for my empire army and i have a few questions

are they worth there points? if i take a unit of three are they worth it in a otherwise balanced list

does anyone use a brace of handguns? im thinking that with there speed and the ability to use handguns like pistols (oh yes no long range  :biggriin:) im thinking they could make quite good mage hunters and having the extra attack is nice (5 str5 attacks  :biggriin:)

would i be better off taking ogre bulls?

so here it is i walk into GW and ask about DoW,
me: whats happening with DoW
bloke: they are still legal
me: oh because there is no mention of them in the NEB or the NOB
bloke goes and checks the NOB and then comes up with this explanation
bloke: its because the new books are designed so  that when you make or design a tourny list you can take whatever is in the book without having to check several different sources before finding out ifit is legal to take those choices or not. DoW have never been legal tourny options
i presume he means GT style

anyway that seemed to explain it for me but i would like to see an errata explaining DoW in detail

im not actually entering a tournament but id like to have a balanced list for when i go down to GW this saturday.

im thinking about repainting my old army to be hochland and i need all the fluff possible on them including favoured weapons most commen troops fluff on elite units like the jaegerkorps(specifically them)

so far all i have found is

i decided i wanted to try out Bronzino's galloper guns with my Army and rather than buying them i converted them

heres a Wip Bronzino (he'll probably get renamed to match my fluff)



question: how would i go about adding that mohawk style plume he has on the GW mini using GS? would i be best making a mini armature for it?

with the NEB release my local GW is doing an empire day with a conversion contest, speed painting contest and a free for all battle

now for the conversion contest i was working on a tracker (hes almost finished, just needs painting and then ill post some pics if anyones interested) but then i found out the model has to be made from the NE general box set, which is gutting seeing as i spent all of the last two nights on my tracker but anyway.

this is where i need help, in the free for all AfAIK (the GW dudes are sketchy at the best of times :dry:) everyone who shows up will use there model and fight in a big battle, now im guessing that means everyone vs everyone so i need some help choosing some good equipment so advice, opinions and help with regards to tactics are appreciated

p.s there is no total points limit

pistol: if im unlucky enough to get charged my BS 5 means i should hit on 4's wound on 4's and then it depends whatarmour they have got
runefang: hitting on fours means 1.5 hits that can only be saved if the dude has a ward save, meaning this leaves little room for combat error
barded steed: for the armour boost and mobility
full plate armour
shield


this is my first draft what do you think?

should i swap the rune fang for the mace of helsturm and a ward save the mace increasing chances of a one round kill?
