The Electors' Forum / Non-Competitive Problem
« on: January 28, 2013, 03:30:15 AM »
Ladies and Gentlemen of this good forum, I have encountered an issue that deals not with being unable to deal with a certain unit, build, or even army. My problem is something of the opposite. I have a very dear friend who plays orcs and goblins and tomb kings, most recently exclusively tomb kings, and I am finding that I am winning well over two thirds of our games with the remaining third being draws. I have tried running literally every unit in the empire army book, with dozens of different builds in attempts to help give my opponent closer games and maybe even some wins, but nothing seems to be helpful. I have offered tor try a new army or run even more toned down lists, but my friend is disenchanted with the ideas. I love playing warhammer, and he is my main opponent. I really am not interested in winning all the time, but just having a good fun games for both of us. My question before the pannel here today is what would be a good way to deal with the situation?

The Parade Ground / 3000 pt Flagellant Based Army
« on: October 26, 2012, 09:45:39 PM »
The religious of the empire are feeling in the mood for purging some heretics, so here is what I have got. It is a magic/flagellant/royal inquisition army of doom.

Lvl 4 Wizard (Shadow) (General)
Has staff of stability

BSB
Has FPA, ES, and Luckstone

Lvl 2 Wizard (Heveans or Light not sure which)
Has dispel scroll

2 Warrior Priests
Both on Barded Warhorses with Shield and Heavy armor

Two bricks of 9 Inner-circle Knights
Both have standard and muso

37 Free Company (For to hide the wizards and BSB)
Standard and Muso

10 Archers

2 Great Cannon

1 Celestial Hurricanum

oh and 80 Flagellants in two blocks of 40.

So, what does everybody think?

The Electors' Forum / A Strange Problem
« on: July 27, 2012, 07:56:22 PM »
I have a buddy who plays tomb kings, and like many tomb kings players he regularly takes two war sphinxes. Obviously the easy way to deal with the kitties is to take some cannon and a steam tank, but dealing with them really isn't my problem. My problem is, I want to take something in my army that has the ability to kill the war sphinxes, but I don't want to take anything that is so over powered that I eradicate his monsters every game without fail. I have tried one cannon and one luminark, but that isn't quite right. Anyone have any suggestions?

The Electors' Forum / Quick Question
« on: July 23, 2012, 04:58:08 PM »
There is a friend of mine at our local club that insists that you cannot have two augments on a single unit at the same time. I keep checking the BRB because I think he is wrong, but I can never find the correct passage to debunk his theory. Could any of you shed some light on this please?

The Battleground / Empire vs. Vampires

Not my battle report and all credit goes to OnceBitten360. He is one of my favorite youtube battle reporters, and he has recently taken up an empire army, so since this was posted on warseer I thought I would share. Enjoy

The Count's Tavern / Starting Tomb Kings
« on: May 20, 2012, 03:59:01 AM »
So I am seriously considering starting a tomb kings army because when I first got into Warhammer, Empire and the Egyptian like skellies caught my eye. Since I have amassed almost all the Empire models I could need and my desire to acquire the remaining bits and pieces is dwindling, I have decided to start up a Tomb Kings army. Before I do, I would like to pick your respective brains about a few things:

1. What models provide the best starting point?
2. What are some of their most effective and ineffective units?
3. Any other tidbits about tomb kings you feel I should know before I start.

The Electors' Forum / Leading From the Back
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:27:52 AM »
So chaps I have a quick question and I am sorry if it has been asked and answered, but I am building a list for tomorrow and your response will effect the finished product. Does a unit benefit from abilities that a character confers, i.e. hatred from WP and the re-roll from the BSB, if the character decides to "sit the combat out?"

Thanks for your time, and cheers~

The Electors' Forum / What lore for a lvl 2 in 3000?
« on: March 11, 2012, 04:11:33 AM »
Tomorrow I am going to run a 3000 point list with only a level 2 wizard, just for shits and giggles. I am running a waraltar and 2 extra warrior priests to mitigate damage in the magic phase. The guy I am playing against is an extremely experienced Orc and Goblin player, and I am sick of running a level 4 shadow against him all the time. Currently I am torn between life and light. What say you?

The Count's Tavern / Bretonnia
« on: March 05, 2012, 12:26:47 AM »
So I am honestly wondering, with our new release looming, what games workshop is going to do with Bretonnia. I am interested to hear what you gentlemen have to say on the topic. Do you think GW will drop Bretonnia and if not what would you do to fix the race?

The Brush and Palette / Mixing old with new models
« on: February 17, 2012, 04:38:10 PM »
So I have had 30 painted and based 6th and 3rd edition halberdiers for a while now, and I recently decided to bump their numbers up to 50. I picked up 20 more recent halberdiers (the shoeless monkey faced variety), and I tried mixing them with the old models. I have yet to paint the newer halberds, and I have to say that I am really unhappy with how the unit looks. Some guys are holding their halberds like spears, some are looking halfway normal, and some are standing there with a shield. The size difference is really making me unhappy too. The newest halberd models look like giants amidst the older brethren.

Before I sit down and paint all the newly acquired models in a color scheme that I am growing tiered of, I am curious if anyone has successfully mixed multiple editions of halberds in one unit and if so please post pictures.

Cheers~

The Brush and Palette / Finecast Question

So I got some new finecast models for christmas and I was wondering if I can prime them with spray paint like I do regular plastics.

The Electors' Forum / HBVG in 2400pts
« on: December 19, 2011, 08:32:58 PM »
So I love running a Volley Gun and a Rocket Battery in 3000 pts, but in 2400 I am not as sold on them. They both require an engineer to work to their full effectiveness, and I can see those points better spend in more reliable artillery.

So I guess my question for you gents is, do you think that a Volley gun is worth running in 2400 pts?

The Parade Ground / 3000 list vs. O&G's
« on: November 16, 2011, 03:48:34 AM »
so this weekend I'm going up against a pretty competitive orc and goblin player, and I was wondering what you all thought of my list. My main strategy is to shell the fight out of his fighty infantry and kill what ever is left with hordes of infantry and combo charges.

Great Weapon, Talisman of Preservation, VHS, AoMI.

Level 4 Wizard (shadow): 240 pts
Rod of Power

Captain: 133 pts

The Brush and Palette / Odd Thought

Ok, so I just had a very strange thought...

Has anyone modeled up a wizard to look like Tim the Enchanter? If anyone has please do share!

The Electors' Forum / Bretonnia be-gone?
« on: August 28, 2011, 10:19:25 PM »
Since Ogre Kingdoms are almost out, and the next army to get a new book is still up in the air, I got to thinking. Will gamesworkshop drop Bretonnia in 8th edition? It wouldn't be the first time, after all they did get dropped in 4th edition. What do you chaps think?

The Brush and Palette / Orcslayer's Master Engineer
« on: August 13, 2011, 03:43:08 AM »
Well Mr. Chumley Warner, you have gone and made me want to paint.  Unfortunately I am not terribly good at painting, but I figured what the heck maybe I'll learn something.

So without further ado here is Hienrick the Engineer

Any tips/advice are much appreciated. Thanks in advance and Cheers!

The Electors' Forum / Level 4 vs. 2 Level 2
« on: July 15, 2011, 01:01:06 AM »
Right, I am headed to a tourny soon and I am throwing together a 2000 pt list. I was thinking about going in a little magic heavy because I'd really like to do some damage with magic.  :biggriin:

So to my question, is one level 4 wizard better than 2 level 2's for casting?

The Electors' Forum / Generating Dispel Dice
« on: July 08, 2011, 02:04:44 AM »
Right, I just read the Empire faq and it seems to me that Arch Lectors generate 2 dispel dice instead of the usual wizard generating gig (only getting an extra dispel dice if you roll a 6). Is my thinking correct or am I a raving lunatic?  :biggriin:

The Electors' Forum / Stanks vs. Vampires
« on: November 03, 2009, 11:52:29 PM »
I am wondering why would you put a Stank in a army designed to kill VCs? My thinking is they will just get tied up in a unit of skeletons and get boged down.

The Brush and Palette / Unit Standards

OK I am working on finishing up painting a unit of greats swords. What unit  standards of yours do you like the best?  Pics are welcome.

The Electors' Forum / Mace of Helstrum
« on: September 12, 2009, 02:44:30 PM »
I always run a guy on a War Altar with the Mace of Helstrum and the Jade Amulet in 2250. Do you guys think this is prudent in a tournament where people run manly the Big 3?
