Changes Inbound, Look for an EDIT to this post

___
Edit I: Ok, I'm definitly going to change the Spears.
- 1 Detachment of Handgunners
+1 Detachment of Halberds (i dont have any more Free Co) at 9 models strong.
+ a few handgunners to the existing detachment.

As for the wizard and other hero choices...not quite sure what I'll be doing with them yet.
I've thought about changeing to an Arc Lector, but not 100% in that yet

Hello gentlemen,

Well. Law School is finally over (for now) and that means I have free time ahead of me, and worse a steady income...You know what that means right? THATS RIGHT! I'm finishing my Empire Army (about a year in the making) wooo1!!!

I've played 500 and 750 points with the empire fairly regularly and been VERY happy with the army. But I want to expand to the "regular" scale of 2000 points.

With that in mind, I present my first attempts at a 2000 pt Empire List. I've got a good portion of this stuff, but by no means all of it and there is pleny of wiggle room, so feel free to comment at will!

The Taalgardt Legion

General of the Empire [181]
FPA, Barded Warhorse, Lance, Shield, Pistol, Rod of Command
(In Spearmen)

Battle Wizard [135]
Lvl 2, Lore of ?, The Silver Horn
(With Helblaster, or in Whitehawk Swords)

Warrior Priest of Sigmar [110]
Hvy Armor, Shield, Barded Warhorse
(With Knightly Orders)

Captisus 150
FPA, Enchanted Shield Pegasus, Lance, Pistol, The Doomfire Ring
____

The Blackhawk Halfpike [45 Men, 347 pts] *State Troops*
29 Spearmen - Full Command, Shields, The Warbanner
8 Handgunners
8 Handgunners

The Whitehawk Fencers [39 Men, 260 pts] *Reman Legion Type Unit*
25 Swordsmen, Full Command
5 Archers
9 Free Company

The Greyhawk Duellists Identical to the above.

Knightly Orders 5 Men, 123 Pts
5 Knights, 1 Musician

2 Cannons at 200 pts

Carabineeri d' Ducali 5 Men. 114 pts
Musician, Outrider with Repeater

Engineering Intern's Contraption
Helblaster Volley Gun  :biggriin:

___________

Should come out to 2000 points unless my math is wrong.

Basic plan is TVI with my own twist.

       Archer                                                                 Archer
     Swords                       Spear                                 Swords
FC                      Musket              Musket  Helblaster                  FC

With the Cavalry deployed largely where required as counter and the Cannons in the back somewhere safe (woods?) that kinda thing.

_______

Anyway, HAVE AT!!!! tear this to pieces. I like the list a lot, but I'm sure it could be better so, please tear it up!!

Joe

P.S. I'm done with law school YEA!!!!!

The Electors' Forum / Re: How do Horses kill? (fluff)
« on: April 17, 2007, 05:56:52 PM »
As I understand it the primary weapon of Cavalry is the confusion it creates in a unit when the cavalry charges in there. I don't think Lances are all that effective in the long term, but for that initial charge, yea they suck.

Steven Pressfield wrote a book about Alexander the Great (Virtues of War) and his description of a cavalry charge is perfect. The unit charges some Hoplites, penetrates the formation and basically the horses, not used to being in tight spaces flip the eff out and start kicking wildly and stuff and then the Infantry pours into the gaps exploiting the temporary confusion.

Shock cavalry, as I get it, didn't really "kill" a whole lot of stuff outright, it more removed it from the combat equation by knocking people out, injuring them to the point of not being able to fight anymore and just sort of knocking the wind out of them...oh and scaring the everloving crap out of them.

Maybe I'm missing something, but thats what it looks like cavalry does to me.

The Electors' Forum / Ideal Spearmen configuration?
« on: April 17, 2007, 03:18:42 PM »
I'm adding a third block of infantry to my army (which, as of yet consists of two 25man blocks of swordsmen.

This new block (The Blackhawk Half-Pikers) is going to form the center of my larger-pointed battle line. This post is directed at trying to guage the ideal set up for the spearmen.

What I've been leaning toward is this.

(*Please comment on this!*)
29men strong, full command (duh)
with shields
commanded by a Warrior Priest w/ AoMI (maybe) and a greathammer
6-wide, 5-deep.

Here's my thoughts (*comment on this too please*)
6wide equals 6 attacks base on the charge. Add in one more for the Sgt. the warrior priest removes one base attack, but adds 2 more at Str 6. Further the entire unit re-rolls its misses.

Charging - 6 WS3, S3 re-rolled attacks AND 2 WS4 S6 re-rolled attacks.
DEFENDING - 12 WS3 S3 -re-rolled Attacks AND 2 WS4 S6 re-rolled attacks.

Also the whole unit will have 5+ armor saves (worth the point IMHO)
Combine this with an FC or Halberd detachment and we've got a pretty sexy static CR.
________________________________________

All of that said, I'm not very good at crunching the numbers on this kinda stuff. I feel this unit will perform admirably as an anchor for my two swordsmen units (and thier detachments) and my pistoliers and knights. (I play TVI basically). But maybe I'm missing something. Maybe thier increased cost makes them prohibitivly expensive. This is where this post comes in.

How do you kit out YOUR spearmen? What does math say is the best way to do spearmen?

I like the kit I've got, but if its horribly inneffective and wrong I'd like to know.

Thanks!

As my empire army reaches for the almighty 1000 points, and I'm finishing up my 2nd block infantry unit, I'm beginning to think of my third (i feel that 1 block infantry for every 500 pts with the rest in support is a good measure) and I find myself liking the idea of Pikemen.
Code: [Select]

         SSSSS          PPPPP           SSSSS
HHH   SSSSS  XXX   PPPPP  XXX   SSSSS   HHH
HHH   SSSSS          PPPPP           SSSSS   HHH
HHH   SSSSS          PPPPP           SSSSS   HHH

Where H-Halberds, S-Swords, X- Crossbowmen, P-Pikes.

The big question I have with Pikemen, seeing as they aren't in the Empire Rule book, I don't know about thier rules, or if the Dogs of War is only place I can get them.

As I understand it Pikemen cost 10 points per, and can wear Heavy Armor for a point. They are a Rare choice, and have the options for a Command Section, but can't have detachements (damn).

MY QUESTION

What I'm curious about is, peoples ecperience with them. How many do you take? Heavy armor? Full Command? Can I put a hero in this unit. I don't know anything about these models, but it seems like an incredible unit. My intention is to take 30, and deploy them 6-wide, 5-deep to get the maximum number of attacks on most stands, but I'm unsure (also put BSB in this unit as it'll be the middle one.) But, advice, suggestions etc are much appreciated.

Thank you very much,

J Prior

Hey everybody!

I'm a poor law student, and I have to focus my buying. As a result, I'm trying to fine tune my lists from 500 pt Border Patrol up to the 2000 point holy grail (it'll be a while til I get there). I realize that some combos which are fantastic at 500 don't work so much at 750 and so on. Thats what this thread is for. So, without further ado, lets just dive in shall we?

[500 point Empire List - Compatible with regular or Border Patrol rules]
The Talgart Border Patrol
CO Maj. Anders Halstead
lvl1 Bright Wizard
Wizard's Staff, Doomfire Ring

Whitehawk Regiment
[1st, 2nd Bttn]Swordsmen x 20 - Full Command
[3rd Bttn] + 10 Halberdiers

Crossbowmen x10 + mus

Carabineers d'Terrino (Pistolers)x5
+outrider w/ repeaters
+musician

499_______________________________________________
I've played this list, and been VERY happy with its performance. But you guys are much better at the number crunching and whatnot. Advice is appreciated, of course.

[750pts - Talgart Rearguard Force]
Exactly as above

Wizard gains 1 level but loses the Doomfire Ring

+ Captain Einhardt Volkmann
Pegasus, full plate, shield, lance, pistol, Doomfire Ring

Whitehawk Regiment loses 1 Halberdier

+Guns of Navronne Rgt. (1 great cannon)

749pts
_____________________________________________________
I've played this list too, but with a Warrior Priest in the command slot. I've been happy with its performance, but I feel it could use a lttle work

[1000pt Talgart Light Brigade]
Exactly as above

Whitehawk Rgt grows to 24 models strong.

+ The Greyhawk Regiment
Swordsmen x25 - Full Command
+10 Halberds

998
______________________________________________________
I have NOT played this list, and I'm debating replacing the wizard with a Warrior Priest or a Command Captain, but I've been very happy with the wizard at lower point levels. It seems to me, that at higher points, on his own he won't get a lot off, spell wise, and that army ld7, which hasn't mattered yet, could become a problem.

[1250 - The Talgart Brigade]
Same as above

Wizard loses the Wizard's Staff

+ Captain Alann Ranier
BSB, Warbanner, Barded Horse, Full Plate

Both Whitehawk and Greyhawk become identical
24 Swordsmen w/ Full Command
+10 Halberds

+ Knights of Taal, 3rd Lance
5 Knights +mus, std.

1248
____________________________________
I have NOT played this variation of the list...hell I don't have half the models, and this is the most "theoryhammer" of the 4 I've offered. I also think it needs the most work. By this point level I really want to have a LD8 General but I still want a BSB and a Captisus and a Mage.

I would really appreciate help with this stuff, also, if the format I've used is confusing I can edit and repost full-lists for each point variation.

Thanks in advance!

Joseph, I misread the post.  You wont be doing corporate law, I will call the witch hunters off.  If they have already arived and burnt you too a crisp...Sorry.  Still it is better to burn an innocent few then let the guilty get away.  Would you believe that some of the law students in Altdorf actually proposed that the law should be based on the principle of "innocent til proven guilty"  What audacity!  We burnt them, of course.  :closed-eyes:

no worries buddy, they hadn't found me yet, i just stayed in the Law Library, no one can navigate that labrynth of (mostly) unread books.

We had a few of those types here too. They've largely been run off though.  :icon_biggrin:

As to Night Goblins

I went half-sies on a pair of "Battle of Skull Pass" boxes and recieved some others as a gift. As such I've got 100 Gobbo Spears, 40 Gobbo Archers, and 30 Spider Riders (i've since sold 20 of them). Also, I have 6 Fanatics.

I've not used Goblins in signigicant numbers in my lists, but thier numbers do seem interesting. I'm planning on clipping the bottom of the spears off to make them "sword n board" gobbos (no nets) and using them in blocks of 30-40 ( :icon_eek:) in a kind of Checker-Board fashion (inter-spersing gobbos w/ bows into the main units to fill them out.) This is of course just theory-hammer, I've not actually used them. Though my friend Aaron is an accomplished Night Goblin player (all NGs and NG-crewed Warmachines [conversions] its a georgeous army.) And he says I can create a very competative list with a combined approach, using Goblins and Orcs as a team. I'm inclined to agree, but the implimentation has yet to work itself out for me yet.

____________________

As to the 500 pt list I posted earlier. I modified it as follows
Argil (as above)
Orc Foot (as above)
Gobbo Cav (as above)
Boar Chariot
1x Stone Troll.

Yes, the troll is small, but at that point level, hes a fire magnet and hes hard as nails. In my games thus far, he gets shot at most, with the rest of my army hitting the enemy head on, un-weakened (including the chariot!!!)

This list is 2-0-0, obviously, not a comprehensive test, but I like the way the army plays. Suggestions? I'm willing to listen to ANY advice, as the Empire Army I've built using this forum is hard as nails and very successful, but FUN to play. (People hate my Captisus and kill him as soon as possible, freeing my cannon(s) to shoot!!).

Hello all!

I play Empire and Orcs (bought the 6th ed box, couldnt pick and played both  :icon_biggrin:). I've gotten AMAZING amounts of help on my Empire list, and I'm pleased to annouce a 2-0-1 (W/L/T) record with them (i'm busy with Law School and can't play much. but I'm very happy with the game and my win/loss record with Empire).

On the other hand, I'm 2-4-2 with my Orcs, basically I consider a Draw a win (because Draws are usually the best games) so I'm at roughly 50/50.

Before I post lists and stuff, I wanted to ask if it was OK for me to look for Orc help on this forum too? I can't find an Orc Forum of any where near equal quality or awesomness compared to Warhammer-Empire.

Alrighty. Thanks very much,

Phos

The Parade Ground / Re: [750 pts] NEB Empire list - My first attempts
« on: December 25, 2006, 08:13:42 AM »
My advice would be, drop the wizard, buy a GC and move the Doom Fire Ring to the captasus and give him a pistol instead of the dragon bow. Gets you to exactly 750 points, if you drop the musician on the handgunners.

hmm...i kinda like the way this one works...

thanks for all the help guys!

The Parade Ground / [750 pts] NEB Empire list - My first attempts
« on: December 19, 2006, 02:33:08 AM »
Ok, this is my first attempt at a list with the new book. I only have enough for small games, so I want to put together a 750pt list. This is my first attempt at such.

Bonheim's Brigade (Brigata Talgarter no. 12)

General - Col. Adrian von Admar - Warrior Priest (130 points)
- Heavy Armor, Shield, Great Weapon, Hand Weapon, The Doomfire Ring
Colonel Admar is the Brigade Chaplain, recruited in the hamlet of Andower, the dour Chaplain quickly earned a reputation for stern fairness among the soldiers. "The Old Man" possesses a healthy glower, but treats his men as he would like to be treated - tough but fair. He is well liked by his soldiers, not least because he leads by doing, and while the money comes from Bonheim, the loyalty flows to Colonel Admar.

Heinrich Lietdorf von Bonheim - Lvl 1 Fire Wizard (75 points)
-Wizard's Staff
H.L. Bonheim is a registered and liscensed Fire Wizard who lives and works as a merchant in Talagaad. During one of his many trips to Altdorf and the Bright Order's College, he learned that rather than contracting to join a company, many wizards were starting thier own. Realizing the monetary...er patriotic opportunity, H.L. Bonheim submitted a request to form a Brigade of soldiers flying Talebecland's colors. It was granted and he recieved a writ of command to a unit to be sourced out of one of Talagaad's suburban settelments - Talgard. Within weeks Bonheim's first regiment, the Whitehawks began to form around a core of expatriated Tilean's he met in a tavern one night. Bonheim is a solid commander and far from a coward, though he makes for a poor fighter, his men respect him because he tries.

Count Deitrich von Adenaur (139 points)
-Pegasus, Full Plate, Shield, Lance, Sword, Dragon Bow
A minor noble, criss-crossing the Empire looking to make a name for himself, Adanaur's life was saved by Bonheim when a firey conuration frightened off a small group of gnolls about to kill Adanaur in his sleep. Ever since Adenaur, and his Brettonian Pegasus Aventuir have been following the 12th Brigade in thier adventures. Adenaur is one hell of a shot, wielding an elven bow of magnificent power and range.

________

The White Hawk's Regiment (Regimento Silber Falke) (205 points)
20 Swordsmen + Full Command + Detachment of 10 Halberds w/ shields
Bonheim's first regiment, the Whitehawks consist of 3 Battalions, the first and second are a Medium Swordsmen unit, which fight together while the 3rd Battalion is a Halberdier's unit which fights on the flank and supports the main force. The regiment is composed of men from all over Talebecland as well as Brettonian, Kislevite,Tilean, Estalian and Arabian expatriats who have taken a liking to the unit or the men. Bonheim treats all men fairly regardless of national origin and has ways of forging Imperial Citizenship documents for those he likes.

Benito Carlini's Crossbowmen (85 points)
10 X-bows + Musician
A recent hire, these tilean Crossbowmen know thier trade and ply it well. (Read: I havn't written anything for them yet)

Pistoliers x 5 (114)
+ Musician and Outrider w/ repeater pistol and pistol. (also havn't written anything)

Should come out to 748 or so. I like the list and the way it feels, very aggressive with a lot of punch. The upgrade to 1000 points is simply another unit of swordsmen w/ halberd detachement, and bringing them both up to 25 swords.

The Electors' Forum / Re: What lords and heroes do you take and why ?
« on: December 19, 2006, 01:40:32 AM »
Hello,
I am new to the Empire, sort of. I played back in sixth ed, quit, and then restarted an Empire army a month ago. I've only got enough for a 750 point list (i've got a little more, but thats all that's painted.)

Anyway, I'm still fiddling with my list, but it looks a little like this.

General = Fr. Hyram Admar, Warrior Priest of Sigmar w/ HA, Shield, HW and GW (so I can choose), and the Doomfire Ring.
Captisus w/ FPA, Shield, Lance, Dragon Bow
Lvl1 Battle Wizard w/ Wizard's Staff (lore of Fire)

This selection gives me some good solid leadership, some hard hitters and a powerful magic phase that allows me to be effective in all four phases of the game. At higher levels I imagine I'd ad an Arch Lector and/or a BSB.

(plus 20-24 swordsmen, a detachment of 10 Halberds, a regiment of 10 X-Bowmen + musician and 5 Pistoliers w/ Outrider and musician).

I'm still fiddling with the list, but its a very mobile aggressive list that can, at that points level, dominate the magic phase if the enemy isn't full prepared for it (i have a hard time against dwarves), and even if he does have a lot of anti-magic, its fairly mobile (the captisus and pistoliers often work together while the infantry fight as a Battalion) and packs a lot of punch.

The Electors' Forum / Rules Question - Flanking and the enemy's shield
« on: December 11, 2006, 03:15:33 AM »
Ok, I have two rules questions. If this the wrong forum, please feel free to move this post.

1 - I keep seeing reference to a rule where a flanked unit does not recieve its HW+ Shield bonus (just the regular shield bonus). I cannot for the life of me find this damn rule, and since I fight dwarves all the damn time it'd be highly useful to actually have it. Where is it?

2- I was in a combat yesterday, and I want to know if what my opponent did was legal. Here's the situation.

My unit of orcs was engaged in battle, they had been charged from the front and from the flank (it didn't go very well). The entire frontage was blocked, as well as the entire side. My opponent charged some gnoblars into the combat, claiming that, because his corner goblar could touch my corner orc, the charge was viable. He got one gnoblar in contact, only via the corner rule, and it (of course) killed an orc (2 6's and my 1 on the armor...crap). I call bull sh*t, i call massive un-controllable amounts of bull sh*t. But, I can't find anything, (or couldn't in the heat of the moment) find anything that says as such.

This dodgy charge pretty much turned the whole game from a stalemate to a rout, and I was very upset. It was a friendly game, but outright rulle fu**ery like that can ruin anyone's day. Please tell me there is something that says this whole thing was a lark.

The Parade Ground / Re: My very first Empire Army - 500 pts.
« on: December 09, 2006, 11:11:57 AM »
That helps a lot actually, I don't have the NEB. I'm working at getting it ASAP, looks like I should be able to get a copy sometime around the 14th-17th, so I'll be able to construct something there.

Upgrading the Wizard to lvl 2 really does make a lot of sense, you're right, and dropping the Doomfire ring allows me to achieve roughly the same effect, using all 4 on one big spell if im so inclined, or splitting it two and two (or hell, 3 and 1 for fireball).

The second regiment will probably also be swords. I know what the fluff says, but if GW wants me to take Halberds they will need to give me a better reason than because a book says so. At 6pts a model the swords blow the 5pt Halberds way out of the water. Halberds are only useful to me as a detachment.

I will debate using FC's for a detachment. You are right, the extra attack is hella nice, I just don't have the models for them, whereas I do for the Halberds ;).

I'll post a new list when I get the NEB, thanks

The Parade Ground / My very first Empire Army - 500 pts.
« on: December 06, 2006, 02:52:21 PM »
Hello! I am slowly building up an Empire force, and this is my first attempts at a list, after reading some people's ideas about the army.

This list is designed to function in either a regular 500 pt game, or a Border patrol. I dont have enough money to do one for each.

Carroburg Border Patrol

Maj. Bonhiem’s Brigade.
The Brigade is a fairly new formation in Carroburg’s arsenal, raised primary for patrol and minor skirmishes, Bonheim has, however, often joined his force to larger Middenlander or Corroburger formations.

Major Anders Johann Bonheim – Level 1 Bright (Fire) Wizard
   -Doomfire Ring
   -Wizard’s Staff

A.J. Bonheim is a fairly wealthy merchant living in one of Carroburg’s many ancillary communities. He is a liscensed and practicing Fire Wizard and has leant his services to the Empire on many occasions. For him, the Brigade is largely a business venture, though loyalty to Carroburg and Middenland is fairly strong, and though a merchant, Bonheim is far from a coward.

Regimiento Weißer Falke
(The Silverhawk Regiment)
   24 Swordsmen w/ Full Command
   + 10 Halberdier
   + 10 Halberdier

The Silver Hawk’s Regiment is a new formation, having cut its teeth at the Skirmish at Skull Rock. They have been designated “Schwarz-Regimiento Carroburger No. 27” by the Carroburg administration. Though more efficient, the numbering system is a lot less romantic, and the number is only used in an official capacity.

Regimiento Fusilier Carroburger no. 2 (3rd Battalion)
(III/2nd Carroburg Fusiliers)
   10 Handgunners w/ Musician

The 2nd Carroburg Fusiliers are a collection of independent Handgunner units (terming themselves Battalions) allied under one regimental banner. Unit strength from one battalion to the next varies greatly.

PHANTOM EDIT: How would you take this list to the next level, i/e 750 points?

I had been debating upgrading the wizard to lvl 2. Adding a captisus with fullplate, shield, and a lance, and tossing in a unit of Pistoliers.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys.

Before this recent post I had made my troops from Talagart, a medium sized city in Talabheim, but using Carroburg works even better (Cause I can use an already established city!).

That said, I probably won't be using the Greatswords Regiment in my army from a city renown for its greatswords...heh.

One more question - Is Carroburg, being in Middenland, a primarily Ulric worshiping city? Or a Sigmarite? Anyway, I'll be posting my 500 point initial list on the Parade Ground soon. And, as soon as I get a camera I'll post pics.

Thanks again!
Joe

Yes, on the map Carroburg had been one of my top choices. The link above doesn't have a page about the city-state of Carroburg. Is it part of a region then? Where do I find information about them.

What comes in the Bttn box?

The post-CoS 6th ed box is pretty friggin sweet. I'm trying to justify snatching one of those up! But the new "detachment set" (20 State and 10 Range) is a solid deal. With a little screwin around you can make a block of 30 Swords from one box (with like, a few random spears or halberds thrown in), which is nice. I think I'll wait to have my empire army grow until those come out.

Ok, so.

I'm building an Empire Army, and doing so very slowly seeing as the new book is coming out and I don't want to buy anything obsolete. (plus i kinda like the old Soldier's Models better).

I need to find a territory to have my troops come from, this is what I have.
The Paint Scheme is a dark red (Scab Red highlighted with Blood Red) with off white (Bleached Bone) detailing and a dwarf bronze-chainmail mix for all the metal. They are painted as being Central European (i/e paler than, say, an Italian) with a handful of Italians mixed in and often a few converted models that I paint as Moors. They look fantastic, but I can't find anything in the book (the 6th ed one) to support the color scheme. Talabheim comes close, but the colors are brighter variants, and they use far too much white. My troops are about 85% red with only white detailing.

Several of my swordsmen have been converted to wield Dark Elf sabers (from the Warriors Box) or to carry Dark Elf kite-shields (same box). This argues for a province bordering the sea somewhere.

Second. I'd like to use some other ranges models to represent mercenary varients on regular state troops. My friend has some Brettonian Men At Arms with nifty looking halberds I was planning on using as a detachement (which argues for a provence bordering Brettonia).

Lastly, would it be ok if I used Dwarf Quarrellers as (mercenary?) (empire loyal?) empire Crossbowmen? I suppose this argues for some Empire province near the mountains.

Thank you for reading this far, I must say, now that I'm a little older, and I'm playing this game for the story and not to WIN WIN WIN i'm enjoyng it quite abit more.

___________________________

Another quick question/opinion for discussion: Does it seem irrational to think that all Empire State troops should be WS 4? Untrained militia should not be as skilled in melee as full-time professional soldiers.
I'd like the option for Heavy Armor, but I understand why its not there. Swordsmen with Hvy Armor joined by a priest would be insanely good...(wow that'd be AWESOME), probably too good.
But it doesn't seem to break the feel of the list to make its full-time professional soldiers skilled in combat. Init 3 makes sense, even for swords IMHO, but WS4 doesn't seem a huge stretch given thier training.

Oh well.

Also, hi everybody, this is my first post. W-E.com is AWESOME, i've learned so much about an army I always thought was gimped. Now, i'm more excited about playing Empire than ever.

Please don't turn this into a GW bashing thread, we all know quality has decreased and the reasons why...

Forgive me, I'm new to this forum. I don't know a whole lot about the internal politics in the Warhammer office. Whats going on over in the UK? Anarchy? (sorry :icon_wink:)

Welcome to the Empire - Help, Guides, and Rules / Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello everyone, this is my first post on Warhammer-Empire, but far from my first time here!!

I have been playing Warhammer since my sophomore year of highschool, which was...my god...7 years ago.
-I played 40k for 2 years before discovering Fantasy.
-My first army was Empire, of which I acquired some 3000 points of plastics and a few metals.
-I quit Warhammer 2 years ago due to a couple issues a) no one in my area played, after several years of fruitless searching.
-I got back into it at the beginning of this semester because a) I moved, and b) it gave me a creative outlet and c) because i found a great group to play with.

Also, I am not new to the Empire. I collected Empire when I played the first time. I have since began to recollect empire. My collection is slowly growing.

Before I got back into the Empire I began an Orcs list. It has some goblin light cavalry, but consists mostly of Orcs. I love it. I decided to come back to the Empire as a secondary force, mostly because writing compelling fluff for orcs is very difficult, i've tried...its just tough.

How and where do you play?
-I play at Wexford Hill Hobbies in Dayton, Ohio. Its got a games-day on Saturday devoted to Games-Workshop stuff. I currently have a grudge with the local Dwarf Player :icon_twisted: as well as the extremely likable Skaven player.

Do you have other interests/hobbies?
I also play Flames of War (Germans and Americans)
-Great WWII Company Level game.
and Warmaster Ancients (late Romans)
-Fantastic "epic" scale warfare from the Classical Era.
as well as Sport of Kings (Spain)
-18th Century Warfare, Army level.

I also play Bass Guitar, study history and politics in my free time, and of course spend way too much time in the Law Library.
....and anything else you might like to share.......
I am a law student at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, USA. I'm in my first year, and I'm very tired  :eusa_wall: . I have a lot less free (i/e drinking) time than I used to, and have retreated into Warhammer and books for entertainment, except for the weekends or my girlfriend. Videogames have all but fallen to the wayside ( :|).

My philosophy with the Empire Army is going to be less one of "YEA! Lets kick some ass!" :biggriin: and more one of buying far fewer models, but lovingly painting each one, and developing a story and narrative for the force as a whole. I'm going to name and historize each regiment in my army, and try to give the force some personality. No more grey-horde. This is, necessarily going to take a lot of time because i'm doing this in between Law Homework, but I think when I finish each unit it'll be worth a lot more to me, than my big blocks of grey troops.

Well thats all, its great to be here, i've learned alot already about making the most of my models, and hopefully I'll keep learning even more!
