Welcome to the Empire - Help, Guides, and Rules / Re: GDPR compliant?
« on: June 14, 2018, 03:46:55 PM »
So WE legal counsel here: Our current terms of use are actually mostly compliant with the regulations. We are clear and upfront with what we do with people's information and we have a process for removing personally identifiable information in our possession. That doesn't remove an individual's responsibility if they make their own information public by posting it on public discussion boards. But as far as the information that other people post on this site, we actually don't own any of that. That's on whomever posts that information.

Expand. Expand. Expand. Don't actually worry about improvements as much (You should) but emphasize expansion.

That's got to be a pretty exciting change! How long were you at the old place?

10.5 years! My entire experience post-law school.  O0 They aren't very happy about it but they kinda forced the issue after they found out that I was thinking about going solo. I could have used a few more months to plan things out, but all in all I'm good!  :::cheers:::

"This video is not available in Germany."

Go figure.

The one that I've posted? Proxy the hell out of it then. It's worth it. ;)

Wow! A Hassellhoff video not available in Germany?!? The irony...

Also, for the love of MUD: it's ALTAR not ALTER!!!   ::heretic:: ::heretic:: ::heretic::

Are you trying to alter its spelling?

BTW, it's 'God', not 'Mud'. Then again, maybe you worship the earth goddess, and when she's wet, she must be muddy?

Warlord stole my thunder, but only because I'm a lazy bum who can't keep up with all his commitments. It now looks like GW is refocusing its IP policy to those things that actually have an impact on its bottom line. While that still means no wholesale copying of pages of the book, it does give us some leeway with posting things like points values. That said, don't go crazy! Use some common sense and respect the company that brought the game to us. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask the mods or PM me directly. While I'm not on here all the time, I will respond to an email or PM pretty quickly.  :::cheers:::

A CORK  ( that's in Ireland for all you geographically challenged americans  :engel: ) radio station was running a competition - words that weren't in the dictionary yet that could still be used in a sentence that would make logical sense.
The prize was a trip to Bali.

DJ:        "96FM here, what's your name?"
Caller:   "Hi, me name's Dave."
DJ:         "Dave, what's your word?"
Caller:    "Goan ... spelt G-O-A-N, pronounced 'go-an'."
DJ:       "... You are correct, Dave, 'goan' is not in the dictionary. Now, for a trip to Bali: What sentence can you use that word in that would make sense?"
Caller:     "Goan f**k yourself!"

The DJ cut the caller short and took other calls, all unsuccessful until:

DJ:           "96FM, what's your name?"
Caller:      "Hi, me name's Jeff."
DJ:       "Jeff, what's your word?"
Caller:     "Smee ... spelt S-M-E-E, pronounced 'smee'."
DJ:            "You are correct, Jeff, 'smee' is not in the dictionary. Now, for a trip to Bali: What sentence can you use that word in that would make sense?"
Caller:       "Smee again! Goan f**k yourself!"

 :engel:

That's fantastic, totally stealing that! :eusa_clap:

Theo

So, umm, I'm Goan - from Goa. It's the name of State in India that was controlled by the Portuguese until 1961ish when India invaded it and annexed it into statehood.   :engel:

So I played a new game this past week that I thought was pretty good. It is Lords of Waterdeep.

Its a great game - among my favorites.

Never played this. I want to try it out!

It's a really well balanced game. I think Delthos' experience with the larger number of players may have more to do with not having played it thorough a few times. First player really has numerous advantages that are offset by the lower starting gold. The problem with more players is that available options are quickly taken away which makes it much more of a challenge to keep up. Two player games are much more laid back, but the intensity of the 4+player games are fun too.

It's a bit of resurgence if you consider that you can get "geeky" games at Borders and Barnes and Noble now -  I've seen Settlers, Carcasonne, and many games by Days of Wonder and other smaller publishers.
