If you do run it, put the Ranger Standard on it.  Avoid DT!

« on: February 02, 2012, 10:47:52 PM »
I have had some success using both against ogres.  Normally I try to kill single monster or warmachines, the try to pick of characters next.  The mortars are good, but cannons have been a better game changer for me in more games. Also I normal kill an ogre and wound the second one with my cannon shots in to their RnF.

Another note is that two of the linemen will be converted to catcher.  Sorry for being so difficult...

If you would be kind enough to one werewolf off of my pledge, it was already painted and I did not realize it.  I will still post a picture of it however I will not take credit for some else's work.

Thank you

I know I failed last month, and this really isn't empire related, but I pledge to finish painting my Norse Blood Bowl Team for the league starting in march.

It consists of a Yeti, 2 Werewolves, 1 thrower, 2 blitzers, and 9 Linemen.  That way I have an opening for any Star Players I might be able to hire

You can only have 3 great cannons at 2500 so I would drop one for a mortar.

I believe that they gave him LD 9 to show that he inspires the soldiers to greater feats of bravery.  Men may fight harder if their "god" is watching...

I liked the battle report.  It seemed like magic carried you through the day.

BTW Rat ogres are frenzy, so they should not have tested for panic, but we live and learn...

All in all, it was a good battle report

What siege rules did you use?

For your upgrades, I would suggest the Rod of Power and a dispel scroll on the wizards.  An Engineer could be helpful.  Other than that you might want to beef up some of your units with the fillers.  It seems like it could be a great list.

I liked the battle report.  It seems like it was great fun battle.

The Electors' Forum / Re: item selection limits for allied battle
« on: January 25, 2012, 03:00:46 PM »
I quick flipped through the BRB and found no limiting rule in the Alliance or the magic item area.  The Unique rule on pg 500, does say "you can only have onr of each in YOUR army unless otherwise stated in your army unless otherwise stated in thr magic item's rules.". It goes on to say that common means common to all armies, which make me think you can have duplicate if the magic item is in army A and army B, but army B can't have two of the same item.

Hope this helps

The Battleground / Von Husenett's Crusade
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:59:04 PM »
This is not a traditional Battle report.  I took a funny all knight to a tournament, just for fun and I ended up doing quite well.  I took 3rd out of 9 so I decided to make a fun narrative about it.

My list was as follows:

Arch-Lector Von Husenett's
W/ Sword of Anti-Heroes, Enchanted Shield, Holy Relic, Potion of Speed, Barded Warhorse, Heavy Arm.

Arch-Lector Von Fuss
W/ Sword of Power, Armor of Meteoric, The White Cloak and Warhorse

Battle Standard Bearer Von Husenett
W/ Rampager's Standard, Full Plate, and Barded Warhorse

Warrior Priest Keddof
W/ Sword of Might, Talisman of Endurance, Ironcurse Icon, Heavy Armor, and Barded Warhorse

25 Knights
W/ Full Command and Steel Standard

23 Inner Circle Knights
W/ Ranger's Standard

12 Inner Circle Knights
W/ Great Weapons, Full Command, and War Banner

Von Husenett's Crusade Started by heading South towards Khemri.  However as the Von Husenett's Crusade past through Stirland, evidence of foul beastmen raids was apparent to the Crusade.  As Haupt-Anderssen gathered a host to destroy the Beastmen, Von Husenett's Knights rode forth to check the beast.  In a clearing in woods stood two hills.  Upon theses slopes blood of the monsters will be spilled.

"If this horde reaches Stirland's Gathering Army they will be slaughter.  Send the fastest rider we have to warn the gathering host."

The Crusaders rode forth.  As foul sorcery was casted upon the knights, Sigmar's divine protection kept the knights.  Charging horses delivered steel plated knights into combat.  With a clash of steel an flesh.  Beastmen were slaughtered by the dozen, however the horde was endless.  The knights were slowly be pushed back.  The horde was slowly wearing the knights down.
****
The game ended in a draw.  I was winning every combat until turn 5, but the crown of command+Standard of Discipline kept him from running away, he broke one unit and killed one hero.
*****
As all hope seemed lost the beast had pushed the knights back.  A horn sounded. The State Troopers form Stirland had arrived.  Von Husenett's Gambit had payed off.
-----
On the southern edge of the Realm of the Border Prince an undead host emerged to oppose Von Husenett's forces.  However the knights were ready. The Ancient magic could not hurt the knights as they charged.  Bones gave why to blessed steel.  As Von Husenett's holy hammer crushed the skull of the Undead Sorcerer, the skeletons began to collapse.
*****
In this game I loss the great knight unit, however they had already distracted him as my general eliminated the hierophent.  The game ended on turn 5 because of time, he only had 5 models left but they started off as hordes, and not I was unable to finish off the last tomb guard and 2 archers (from a unit of 50).
*****
The crusade had finally reached Khemri.  Von Husenett found the foul skeleton that had haunted his dream.  With a great charge the knights broke the skeletons, only two nights fell from dark sorcery from a casket.  As soon as Von Husenett hammer hit, the skeletons fell to dust.  The crusade would soon be complete.
*****
By turn two, every knight was in combat, by turn three  I had killed all his heroes.  Turn 4 he had a unit of the snake cav and the casket left.  In the end I was not able to catch the cav.  I took 3rd and was only 500 BP away from first.

So a thin grey line on the shafts and wash for the horses?

I would highlight the same way as I am my Nuln army - codex grey.  Try to be very thin.  If you want a stable line, take a brush that is near the end of its days and use the side of the bristles as opposed to the point.  It should spread in an even line.  I'm not sure if that makes sense - try it first  :smile2:

Unfortunately all of my brushes are new.

I decided to use paint all the spear/halberd shafts black, as well as several horses.
So my question is what is the best way to highlight black?

What is the goal for your wizard?  Do you want to use him just for extra range attacks?  I started off with the lore of fire but experience has shown me the lore of life and shadow tend to be better for empire.  The lore of life buffs our troops while shadow weakens the foes.

If you keep the first list, have you considered a unit of pistoliers?  They add a bit of mobility that is very useful for harassment/war machine hunting/flank protection.

Those are some good looking crossbowmen.  The basing is very nice as well.

I believe that army concept is very viable.  I am sure that you could find an army dedicated to sigmar somewhere in Middenland.

I always try to find the points for two units of 5 with musicians and outriders with repeater pistols.  They earn their points back 95% of the time.
