The Brush and Palette / Steamtank conversion project....building Leonardo's tank
« on: February 11, 2008, 05:28:02 PM »
So, last week I was tinkering with the idea of imitating one of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions, the 360 degrees tank. I already have both the old and the new steam tank from GW but I wanted something more creative and less steampunk. Some of you might not like the idea at all, but here I present to you what I have been up to these last days. Enjoy!
This is the concept sketch by Leonardo himself

Than a computer generated version of it

and finally.... the card and aluminium sheet version of I buildt myself
(the base)

It is still not ready yet because I have been somewhat occupied lately, but I hope to show you the end result soon enough. As usual comments and critique are welcome.

I have in mind to create a War altar of Ulric as a counterpart for my scratchbuildt Stirland Waraltar. Also in the pipeline is a unit of ogre Rhinox riders as mercenaries. These will hopefully be used in my Middenheim army. As a base I started off constructing them out of plastic children's toys. Please give me any hints upon how well or not are they coming out and also any ideas about things that I should include or else improve in order to make the best models possible
) I just recently bought some cheap replicas of famous renaissance statues at our local euro shop for just one euro each. Since I like to convert a lot I tought what the heck, I buy two of each and I convert the second one so I see what I can come up with
The following is the result of such a conversion, made up by greenstuff, a chopped up model and some bits and bobs together with much glue, paint and time invested in
I hope you like the end result. Critiques are warmly welcomed
sadly until now I have yet to find a technique that enables me to do this.
