So, last week I was tinkering with the idea of imitating one of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions, the 360 degrees tank.  I already have both the old and the new steam tank from GW but I wanted something more creative and less steampunk.  Some of you might not like the idea at all, but here I present to you what I have been up to these last days.  Enjoy!

This is the concept sketch by Leonardo himself

Than a computer generated version of it

and finally.... the card and aluminium sheet version of I buildt myself

It is still not ready yet because I have been somewhat occupied lately, but I hope to show you the end result soon enough.  As usual comments and critique are welcome.

The Brush and Palette / help on armour
« on: January 17, 2008, 05:06:48 PM »
These last few days I viewed many conversions featuring bits of scratch buildt armour using green stuff.  Whilst I really like the idea I am finding it hard to do it myself.  Is it possible for anyone with any experience in sculpting armour to do a step by step picture guide so that I and others like me out there, manage to hopefully get a hang of it and produce our own bits  :icon_redface:? I hope I am not asking much, but thanks for any help on this in advance.

The Brush and Palette / New year, new conversion projects......
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:53:30 PM »
So another year has started and I have decided to start a new Warhammer project  :smile2: I have in mind to create a War altar of Ulric as a counterpart for my scratchbuildt Stirland Waraltar.  Also in the pipeline is a unit of ogre Rhinox riders as mercenaries.  These will hopefully be used in my Middenheim army.  As a base I started off constructing them out of plastic children's toys.  Please give me any hints upon how well or not are they coming out and also any ideas about things that I should include or else improve in order to make the best models possible  :::cheers:::

The Brush and Palette / My scratch buildt giant......pic heavy!
« on: December 13, 2007, 10:49:15 PM »
Since it's a long time I didn't post, I tought I would let you see what I was up to during my absence.  For those of you who did not follow my tread before (I avoided treadomancy this time  :-P) I just recently bought some cheap replicas of famous renaissance statues at our local euro shop for just one euro each. Since I like to convert a lot I tought what the heck, I buy two of each and I convert the second one so I see what I can come up with  8-) The following is the result of such a conversion, made up by greenstuff, a chopped up model and some bits and bobs together with much glue, paint and time invested in  I hope you like the end result. Critiques are warmly welcomed  :::cheers:::

The Brush and Palette / Converted Hercules
« on: October 01, 2007, 02:57:16 PM »
Hey guys it has been a while since I have seen any converted giants on this site so I decided to post my WIP giant for your critique before he is completed.  Due to some inspiration brought over to me by the works of Bane, imitating famous artists' works in his Empire conversions, I decided that since I liked the idea I should try it too.  For me though it was not imitation but rather an altering of sculptures made by famous artists.  The following giant is based on a Hercules statue made by Jacopo Bonacolsi. I found an imitation of the statue at a euro shop and though to myself, well heck why not convert it  :icon_cool: and see what the end result looks like. I hope you like the results although its still very WIP and I would like your comments about how it can be improved.

This is how the original statuette looked like before conversion:

And this is at its current stage although its not finished yet as I am still awaiting some parts to come from ebay  :-P

The Brush and Palette / Flame painting tips
« on: August 13, 2007, 01:46:34 PM »
Hi there guys I was wondering if you could help me with some tips for painting flames.I really am a bit at loss when it comes to painting fire and would appreciate any help you could give me about how I slowly build up the layers of paint to give me a convincing flame. Also if I am not asking much of you, I am interested in knowing of a good way to highlight a dark green uniform colour ( I mean the different stages and what colours to use).I want the uniform colour to retain its dark green scheme though. Thanks a lot for any help you might give.Cheers  :-)

The Brush and Palette / First attempts at using greenstuff
« on: July 16, 2007, 12:32:52 PM »
My first attempts at sculpting from greenstuff. These attempts are far from being great but I am trying to get a feel of how to work with greenstuff in order to better my sculpting ability one day hopefully. Please do give me your insights about how I can improve my meagre skills. One thing which im finding difficult to achieve is smooth surfaces that help to give the model a clean look  :-( sadly until now I have yet to find a technique that enables me to do this.

First off is a WIP Archlector on foot

The Brush and Palette / My recent green stuff works
« on: June 26, 2007, 03:01:54 PM »
Hey there kind sirs, these last few days I have decided to venture a bit more with green stuff other than just building up the odd parts of a model here and there. With this in mind I decided to start practising in order to improve my scarce sculpting techniques  :icon_redface: The following are work in progress models for my empire army. Please excuse the crappy pictures and hazy outlines, but I dont have a proper camera and so I had to take the pics with my mobile  :icon_cry: I still need to improve alot but these are my first tries. I hope you enjoy them

The Electors' Forum / The Hammer of Sigmar
« on: August 01, 2006, 11:40:17 AM »
Hi everyone! I recently put my mind thinking about a new miniature conversion project, which apart from various bits, will come to include the Hammer of Sigmar. Now as I looked for this specific item as it is represented upon various miniatures, it struck me that the Hammer held by the Emperor and the one held by either  Valten or Luthor Huss are different in shape and size. Before I start converting I wish to know which one version is the real Hammer of Sigmar and if its anyone of them, than what are the other versions, copies? If I recall correctly, the Emperor had given the hammer to Valten for the SOC, so why is it different from the one being carried by the Emperor on Griffon, if it is one and the same item ?

Thanks in advance for any you may provide me with  :-D

The Electors' Forum / What do I use against skaven?

I am currently doing the border princes campaign from the general's compendium with another six players. We are using armies consisting of 1500 points each and I am currently finding problems tackling a Skaven army of doom (shooting/magic)  :(  Can someone who has tackled them with Empire before, give me some suggestions about what army composition suits best against these devious vermin?

The Electors' Forum / Blood Keep info
« on: February 15, 2006, 06:37:31 PM »
Does anyone by any chance know any fluff about Blood Keep? Its a fortress situated in the mountains near Nuln. I am asking this because my army uses a green and grey color scheme and it is very much reminiscent of Stirland (green and yellow). I was thinking it could be Blood Keep garrison or some such, to justify the slight divergence in colour scheme, since the keep is very near Stirland.

The Electors' Forum / against Brettonnia
« on: January 09, 2006, 10:19:00 AM »
Hi there, I am currently having serious problems with my empire army which TVI style (lots of infantry) against my regular opponent which playa brettonnia.  He usually takes three knight units (knights of the realm, knights errant, grail knights) all of them full ranks & command (10 models each).  Together with this he also takes a unit of pegasus knights (full command), two units of archers and two trebuchets.  I have been playing empire for thirteen years now, but sadly enough cant seem to counteract this list with anything i tried or thought of :( since they have more charge range then me (he also uses a magical banner that gives him extra charge range) and when i try to stop his charge with infantry, he waits a bit till his trebuchets smash my ranks to pieces. What would you use against such an army? help is very much appreciated, thanks.

The Electors' Forum / The crown of Averland
« on: December 15, 2005, 11:13:44 AM »
Hi to all.  Its been a while since I am pondering on the idea of a new worldwide campaign much like the Ostermark campaign, which was organised on this very site.  I was thinking on the same line of three pretenders to the crown (although not the Imperial crown).  I remember to have read somewhere that with the death of Marius Leitdorf (which I believe you all know of), his three sons were left as contenders to the Crown of Averland.  I do know that logically the crown would go to the eldest son of the family, but many a time history has proven this not to be the case.  Games workshop has still not developed anything about this to my knowledge, so correct me if I am wrong.  Since there are three brothers it could easily be explained through a family dispute following Marius' demise (perhaps Marius nominated his middle or youngest son to the throne before his death/ it is widely known that he was mad after all), or else it could be that the Imperial court being very cross with Marius (he was prohibited from attending the Imperial court) try to oust his family from the Averland throne in favor of a more Imperial 'friendly' family or many other excuses beside.  All these 'accidents' are known to have happened through history and shouldn't be much of a problem to understand and interpret (the spanish war of succession comes to mind 1701-1714).  I would like to know if someone knows the actual names of his three sons or wife though.  Your thoughts about this being possible or feasible at all would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Can anyone please tell me how to paint the grey which remains on the chin after one has shaved a beard? I saw it on Imperial Forge's avatar, but I cant understand how he did it. I want to create a rugged look on my swordsmen by painting some models like they did not shave in a week or so.

The Electors' Forum / Empire versus Lizardmen/Skaven
« on: October 19, 2005, 09:47:34 AM »
Hi there fellow Empire comrades. I have been playing empire for 13 years now and all through these years i lost and won various battles. I never encountered an army wich was totally unbeatable but this last year i am experiencing difficulties with two major armies. One is the skaven and the other being the lizardmen southlands army. Can anyone give me some hints about how, if it is at all possible, win against a southlands army (all skink skirmishers + 5 mages level 2) or an all clan Skrye army with an empire force? I tried a couple of times but it seems rather hard. It becomes nearly impossible to beat in a tournament because you cannot just tailor an army to suit only 1 enemy!! Please i really need some help on this as i am seriously considering the idea of refusing to play tournaments or even friendlies against these particular armies, until the are more balanced, because i really am loosing all the fun in the game against them.   :(
