Stormbanner I expect to go. I'd get rid of it if I was doing the book. Skaven don't need it and it just about kills missile weapon units which already struggle in 8th edition.

Don't need it? It's very helpful, if they start they can just activate it later and use their own shooting in first turn. If they go second, then enemy artillery is neutralised. Even if it expires on next turn, then You're very close to get Your precious skaven targets into safe close combat.

Also, I believe that strength in numbers rule wasn't written with having in mind 8ed and steadfast, skaven were supposed to be cowards... I wonder what makes people think that they were almost 8ed book - only big must have models and release date, but in terms of rules?

Couldn't Your opponent attack the unit without directing hits to champion? Or it's that the way all those conga-line combos work?

Somebody hates Skaven. Although I'd be interested in seeing the limitations of WofC, and Empire if you have them.

They've taken all the threat out of the army with that comp.
Yeah, this comp makes them totally different, I talked about usuall skaven I face - abomb, Horde of plaguemonks with plague furnace and plague banner, screaming bell/lord on bonebreaker, doomrocket, stormbanner.

And thy don't have low leadership, they have leadership 7 lord in unbreakable unit taht gives him via strength in numers +3 Ld. Plus there are so many of them, that it's pretty hard to negate the rank bonus via flank/rear charge.

But I haven't faced them with 8ed Empire, so maybe things have changed for us... I hope that my moaning will end :)

Forgot to write most important:
congrats on the win with ratmen, Daymz!  :eusa_clap:

I wish they had in mind 8ed while writing Skaven AB... all those "unique"rules making screaming bell and plague furnace so much different than normal ridden models, all those magic items, not to mention abomination cost. Hope they will update the book before 9ed.

I'm not sure, but I think that You have also painted his codpiece metallic. I may be wrong, I don't know this model, maybe it's just part of the aromur

Black knight of Morr!
I really like the armour, that kind of shade would look really good on Reikgsguard KO. And the sword is even better.

I understand Your pain with Master Thesis very well - my aracane battle altars and greatsword are also more tempting than studying, but I need to focus!

I wonder if it would be possible to put amber wizard torso on maruader horse. Don't have the minis though, so I'm just speculating

Criticize? There is no much to criticize, very solid work. Maybe try to prepare models better before painting - there are some minor visible mould lies, like on the bucket and end of the stick. The face is great. Keep up posting!

I made my movement trays from steel sheet - found a workshop that offered some iron sheet cutting and they make it really cheap. Search in your neighbourhood.

Wow! Safari Lizards are great for basing some arcane vehicle! Hurricanium was on so high level of awesomeness that it would be hard to beat it... But I bet You can!

And go on with inspiration Darknight, I have too many non hobby activities right now to finish the Luminark, so it would be great to see the idea getting realised by someone!

Knight's of the Taal's Fury are descirbe in new (may) issue of white dwarf - there is a Uniforms of The Empire section about demigryph Knights. Their colours are black, red and yellow, with steel (but not too polished, like reiksguard) armour with golden details, yellow/black shields and banners with red griffon with flaming paws. They are pictured with cavalry halberds, their clothes are red with yellow details. It is written that they favour demigryphs above other mounts.

Knights of Morr are very Ostermarky too.

Very nice! White looks good on morrites. I wonder how would they look with pointy hoods  :engel:

Also, I really like the torch!

maybe some head cuts

Don't you dare!  ::heretic:: Make him captain or greatsword/swordsmen champion, that mini looks to good to change it. Also, those knights have more parts with different weapons? They look like they have same body, are they some part of multicomponent kit?

Also, was Bret's peggie always on 50mm base? I converted my captasus using pegasus knight and I'm pretty sure I haven't changed the base.

Bases: bits + green foliage - thats what makes them classy!

Banner is indeed superb, but what is ingenious in it's subtelty, are those demigryph bases! They are not boring to look at, but also they aren't overcomplicated - It must be hard to achieve on bigger areas! Bravo!

Genialne
I like mounted warrior priest - he looks very civilised surrounded by those unshaved Ulrican barbarians  :smile2:

Also, skinwolf could be great as unit filler, but even better as waraltar!

Wow, guys, that's pretty nice response to some dice and rough concept, thanks

First thing first, special credits goes to Finlay, who backed me up with some very useful info about dark eldar raider.

And about luminark itself...

I think steampunk isn't the way to go... Sorry Spjuth and theforgefather, but that's the metal college or engineers domain (but the more I stare at the pic the more it looks like some steamtank variant... Probably hint for steveb).

Ziggurat pyramid for lens cannon base - that's the way to go, but probably without those pleasure slaves Darknight mentioned (we're the good ones here, no slavery and pimping on board!)

BAWTRM, arselus, Carcharoth - I think that floating is the way to go, maybe I'll mount it on some Hysh-fog or just transparent rods - that'll be clarify in the future. And the ram is dark eldar raider part, there are two to choose from.

Anyone here, this idea is free to copy - it would be very rewarding to see that my idea inspired others. I was also thinking about using Zvezda triera hull:
http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/misc/sail/Triera-72-rm/Triera-01.jpg

And about fenbeasts and other stopped projects... I just want to start to much, without having time to finish it all (by the way, did You have such moment in Your hobby life, that ALL Your miniatures were painted?). But I guess I would paint fenbeasts sooner or later, they are perfect to test texture paints on them.

Thank again!
 :::cheers:::

Greetings brothers in arms!

With new book and new shiny stuff it's even harder to concentrate on finishing old projects. I started to build new wagons, but I really don't like that luminark and hurricanium are on the same chassis as waraltar. My first idea for converting arcane battle altar was to make luminark truly  an ark - and beacause it's college of light - all that snakes, pyramids etc - I wanted to make the ship in tombkinguesque fashion. Enugh words for now, here is a draft of what I came with:

I have vague idea that dark eldar rider has nice "tomb king - hellenic" hull, but I don't know how to finish it. I see now two possibilities, neither of which convince me:

a) make it taller - put it on some carriage, like warwagon, with High elf lions pulling it

b) make it more like ship - move the lens cannon to the front, put dark eldar sails in the middle and on the stern, and make it float on some ghastly fog, like vampire counts vehicles.

First idea would make it look a little silly, but second is much harder to achieve - I don't like fog sculpted by citadel artists and I doubt I'd do it better.

Help me, there must be better solution that I can't see !

The Electors' Forum / Re: Is it true we have smaller armies now?

Take your 7ed army list and price it with 8ed prices.  I wonder if there would be any spare points... but even if such comparisions are not perfect - fighting capabilities in 7 and 8 are different

From Youtube comments:

On his videos on airbrushes/compressor he says it's just the cheapest one on Ebay, the one in the blue foam box that is 16 bucks.

It's called Premium Dual Action Airbrush Kit Craft Nail Art New Blk to be exact under Ebay.

He made it look so easy... I know that guy, his reviews and tutorials are usually very helpful (even if he paints some empire unrelated stuff some techniques are worth copying), but without airbrush it's hard to achieve same effect.
