if a detachment unit is killed and the parent unti is still alive do they give the enemy victory points? but since they techniclly belong to the parent unit as... well... a detachment but they still part of the parent unit i would beleive not. this answer will determine weather I had a draw or a loss.

The Battleground / empire vs empire 1700 points

I know its been a while but i thought i would try something diffrent. anyways i had a game with my empire vs another empire player and normally i would have been owned but due to some luck on my half and some unluck on his half the game was alot more fair :P anyways without further adue i present another written batrep...yes i know my armies not painted so stop bringing it up.

LISTS 1700 POINTS:

the battle feild:
this is not deployment but just the feild with our units clumb up on it :P



the thing ontop of the hill is an abbysal pit or something like that which drops mt LD by 1

and due to another player taking most of the river the giant paeice in the middle is "shallow" so we can walk through it without any negetive effects and so is the little area with brown on each side of the river.

MIXED PROVINCES TURN 1

pistoliers move across the river and it turns out to be a river of lava and all but 1 dies who then flees. everything else moves up. mortar shoots hand gunners and kills 4. cannon shoots helstorm and overshoots. magic i belevie called stone skin makes the knights T6 or 5 i dont remember.





CHEVEK TURN 1

outriders unload into the spearmen killing 5 and making the unit flee just 1" away from the table edge. mortar shoots at flaggelents and kills 7. handgunners and xbows shoot flaggellents and kills 8 more leaving 5 left. helstorm shoots inner circle knights but scatters directly ontop of the swordsmen detachment killing all but 2 who then almost flee of the table.




MIXED PROVINCES TURN 2

everything moves up. helblaster kills 5 of my flaggelents. cannon shoots at helstorm but undershoots. mortar and magic kill 10 halberdiers. also we remove the big river peice since the units kept falling over. spearmen rally, swordsmen and pistolier do not.





CHEVEK TURN 2

his knights on my left flank headin towards my warmachines can be a real threat so i reposition my handgunners to face them. halberdiers manuver for the impending charge as well as th outriders since they cant hit anything. Xbow shots kll 3 more flaggelents. helblaster spirals out of control and lands 1" infront of the spearmen killing no one.





MIXED PROVINCES TURN 3

mortar kills 3 outriders. cannon kills 2 halberdiers making them take a panic test and failing with a 12 but luckly due to my BSB i got to re-roll and save my 400ish point unit from instant destruction :D . helblaster misfires. inner circle knights charge Xbows killing most of them and overrunning into the handgunners flank. normal knights charge my engineer overrunning into the helstorm.





CHEVEK TURN 3

flaggelents march towards the helblaster as well as the lone wizard giving enough room for my halberdiers to make an insanely lucky charge into the inner circle knights flank. due to the S4 armour peircing attacks of my haqlberdiers and banner of razors as well as my sword of power and extra captine in the handgunner unit i managed to kill 5 knights and send the entire unit running but I faild to overrun :(



INTERMISSION

MIXED PROVINCES TURN 4

inner circle knights rally and wizard casts dwellers below which kill 4 more halberdiers due to some insanely lucky rolling :D.

only failed 4 tests.

anyways his hel blasater killed another 7 flaggelents and one of my outriders catchs a cannon ball. knights kill the mortar


CHEVEK TURN 4

Flaggelents try to charge the helblaster and fail. wizard moves up. hangunners shoot and kill 2 knights causing the to flee. halberdiers charge into an epic combat lsing 5 halberdiers and kiling one knight and wounding the wizard, i said combat the general and the captine had a duel in which no one harmed the other. outriders move up




MIXED PROVINCES TURN 5

helblaster oblitorates my wizard. knights run off the board. combat continues with no casualties.




CHEVEK TURN 5

flaggelents helblasater and fail again. combat continues no more casualties.




GAME ENDS
resaults... tie game.

well thats the end of that its been a few days between the game and writing this so i might have left out a few details but i got most of it across. it was my firstt time fighting another empire army and i wasnt really sure what to do against it but due to some luck i managed to tie this game up.

anyways thanks for reading and happy wargaming

next week i take my guard out for a spin :)

so one of my friends abbandoned his skaven army to start tomb kings since he loved the new book so much and has been testing them out in a few games. in his third game against me and my empire he had a unit of 10 tomb guard with a high lich preist(this was a 1200 point game) the tomb guard unit had some stupide magi banner allowing his the resserect D6+2 guys back and the lich preists spells also helped but any ways i maneged to oblitorate most of his army with pure gun spam and cannons one shoting his constructs but the only thing i couldnt kill was the lone 10 man tomb guard unit. they eventually got into combat with a 20 man unit of halberdiers with a general and after 3 rounds of combat they were coming back faster then i could kill them!
i eventually got a 20 man unit of swordsmen and a 5 man free company detachment in their flank and 2 combats later(we were playing last man standing) I still couldnt kill them, the only thing which managed to destroy them was a stray helstorm shot landed directly on the tomb guard destroying enough for me to use the rest of my men to destroy the remaining tomb guard and preist.

this was insanely stupid and im wondering how to counteract a unit like this? he is already planning on getting a big 40 man block of tomb guard and i am baffled on how to destroy such a silly unit with empire

1. For one 6 spear Chukas at 1000 points means your opponent is an ASSHOLE. Consider playing someone else.

he talks about doing to same to me :P he is still my friend so i will still play him but he dosent like playing me since i like to bring 10 outrider, 2o handgunners, 10 crossbowmen, and 2 helstorms to 1250 point games  :icon_cool:

2. Put a captain on a Pegasus give him the charmed shield

i will be sure to try that.

A baseball bat is not a bad idea or you could just pick them up and throw them out the window

so I played a game against O&G the other day and the player had 6 spear chuckas in a 1000 point game. they would have done more damage if he didnt roll so many 1's  :icon_razz: any ways im not really sure the best way to deal with warmachines other then cannons and outriders but when your going up against so many warmachines (and there will be more) what do I use

According to Harry on Warseer, this will be a sort of Fantasy Apocalypse expansion. The sneak peak miniatures shown are a Manticore and Black Dragon/maybe a generic dragon.

Some pics of what the dragon may look like full on for reference



Also note that there will be new scenery kits and new wizard miniatures.

I think Harry or GodlessM confirmed hat it's a manticore. However, there could still be a chimera released.

I'm almost sure, they will go after the 2 variations option. From one box you will be able to make either one or the other.

i want a mountain chimera that would be cool since empire already have a dragon(wonderful model for a karl franz from the actual pictures on warseer) it would be nice to see other models since ostermark armys should rejoice since they can have a manticore

I can't imagine seeing a new Empire book for 2 years as OK, WE, VC, and Bretonnia all need new books in light of 8th edition. Empire is doing fine in comparison.

I just love how every one hates the demi griffin, its not bad model wise just rule wise but its all personal opinion.

Of course the way GW is going we'll probably end up with a clockwork dragon or similar  :icon_rolleyes:

that would be cool and stupid at the same time!

so I am noticing that when armies get updates they are getting big things with a howda on the back (arachnorok, new TK war sphinx, not new but stegadon, and IMO the skaven screaming bell) and I love units with howda's. so I was wondering/hopeing that when the new empire come out(if they do) if they would have a howda unit example like the return of the war wagon, or steam tank battle platform or what ever, one i want to see is a demi griffin with a platform on the back.

anyways just sort of an idea i wanted to share
